Who Will Go in Episode 12?
Survivor: Fiji - Who Will Go in Episode 12? by Kari Kennedy -- 05/03/2007 This week Alex will either be the swing vote or dead duck, depending on how well he plays. Can he manage to infiltrate the group to pull back three of his original tribe mates? Or will the remaining six see through his wily ways and vote him out? What will this "cornered lion" do? And who is thinking ahead with the end so near? Wow, what a roller coaster ride this show has been the past few weeks, huh fans? The Four Horsemen alliance was hacked up and turned into pet food filler before they even realized it. Even Alex caught on to what was happening and threw a vote at Mookie last week, breaking a potential tie brought on by "The Syndicate," guaranteeing himself another week in Fiji. This week's previews don't give us much new insight into who may be going this week, other than maybe throwing some misdirection against an obvious boot. There is hint that Boo's constant chatter may be getting to some folks, but at this stage of the game, it's not a good reason to get rid of someone. There also has also been a quick preview shown this week with a voiceover saying, "The tribe may be turning on a fan favorite," meaning Yau-Man. Then we hear Earl speaking, "We/They wanna vote out Yau-Man tonight." The first word is a tough to pick out so this is likely another CBS misdirection. Earl continues to have an edit that shows him playing a shrewd poker game. He's manipulating without manipulating. He's leading without leading. He's making the others feel as if they're in control to some extent, when they're really a pawn in his game to win. Yau-Man is his number-one supporting actor, with the remaining four acting as game pieces getting him to the end. He's still, to me, the only one really playing the game well. Yau-Man is also playing the game well, but he's not playing the people like Earl is. Again, he's the main support to Earl's game as he continues to work with him; assisting Earl to get people aligned. He has turned into an unexpected powerhouse in challenges throughout the season, using his mind to outsmart the others, while they rely on their strength. There is a case to be made that he could potentially win the game as well, as I think the jury will see that he was a provider and main contributor to everything in the camp. He still holds the immunity idol; as long as he keeps it on him, he will make it to the final five easily. Cassandra has solidly wedged herself into the Earl-Yau alliance. She should be in a good position, as she seems to be well respected among other members of the tribe. We've read in several post-boot interviews that she is the subtle schemer, taking people under her wing and mother-henning them. This motherly support is most apparent in how she is keeping Dreamz within arm's reach, as much as that is possible with his flighty behavior. On the other hand, Cassandra might be considered a likely target for eviction this week, if Alex manages to plant a seed in the minds of Stacy, Boo, and Dreamz to swing the vote over. He could use Yau-Man's not-so hidden immunity idol as a tool to create a wedge between the six remaining, telling them that they have an opportunity to turn the game around right now with his help. Dreamz is pliable and could be swayed. Boo isn't the sharpest tack in the world, but I believe he's seen how far he could go with Alex in the past and wouldn't likely swing back. Stacy could also swing back to ensure herself a place in the final four, but after the snide comments she made last week, I doubt that would happen. Stacy and Boo are just not playing the game well enough to continue much longer. Boo thinks he's making decisions for the group, yet doesn't have an inkling that the triad at the top is just using him. He's clueless to the game as a whole and the strategy of the end game. Boo also is accused in the website clues this week of talking too much. Will it hurt him or is this some edited misdirection? Stacy, on the other hand, manages to do one thing well: belittle just about everyone who may end up on the jury. She would actually be a fabulous person to take to the final tribal council, because she wouldn't receive any votes from the jury. Her attitude and lack of game understanding will be her downfall. Don't you hate to see people like this make it this far into the game? This week it looks like Alex will continue to scramble to survive tribal council. Clues from previews and the CBS website point to Alex temporarily taking an under-the-radar approach to the game. He is shown playing possum while he eavesdrops on other tribe members' conversations. In previews, he also sits quietly among others as they bicker about each other. This could help him in gaining information as they seemingly forget that he's among them. One other clue points to a Survivor proposing a compelling argument to stay. Only a lawyer, like Alex, might be a likely contender for this clue as he's backed into a corner and fighting to stay. Personally, I think the editors are trying to put up a smokescreen in the previews, hinting at Boo or Yau-Man going, but it is just to try to make this week's eviction seem a little more surprising. If folks were thinking smart, which would be a stretch for all but two of them, they'd try to knock out Earl, Yau-Man, or Cassandra this week. Thankfully, they're not rocket surgeons. I don’t think there’s much doubt that Alex is the easy, obvious boot this week among the remaining tribe members. If his eviction does come to fruition, then next week will start to get interesting again as the cannibalism will certainly begin.
