Hubby and I got to talking about the soon-to-be-published 6th Harry Potter book so I put me in the mood to re-read all 5 before I go get #6 at Midnight on the 16th of July (oldest daughter and I have pre-ordered copies reserved at Barnes & Noble). I have received a challenge. Hubby doesn't think I can get them all re-read by the 16th. Now, I've got to prove him wrong!

You can do it. I think you'll really like them Brinna. Have you seen any of the movies? The movies were pretty much word for word of the books.
I'm so jealous of you all who are buying the books. I'll be waiting for my hold to come in from the library

I've read all the books to myself twice and then read them all aloud to my daughters. It's time consuming to read them aloud, especially since I do voices and everything. This will be my third read to myself.
We've gone to all the films on opening weekend as a family and own them on DVD. My daughter's room is filled with Harry Potter stuff and she has her own copies in hardbound.
I'm 2/3 of the way through book one. I'll finish it by bedtime. As I'm re-reading the first book, I'm noticing all of the differences between the novel and the movie. Although I do enjoy the movies, the novels are so much better!!

  I remember you telling me about reading them to your girls and doing the voices.
Darn, Now you're making me want to read them all over again. But I'll fight the urge. I did that with the Gunslinger series by King.

Re: Books I Don't Read I just can't get into the whole Harry Potter thing. I don't know, I guess I'm weird or something. It just doesn't interest me in the least bit.
I've never read the Chronicles Of Narnia books either. Nor the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I think my geek card may be in jeopardy.

I agree. The way they threw her in at the end wasn't done well. Notice that it was a new lawyer to replace the old. I didn't think this was one of his better books in all honestly. I didn't care much for the story line myself.
Some other books I have lately are of course some historical romance. I'm a sucker for romance. Plus I like crime novels too. I also have read in the last couple weeks, Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs and Ritual Bath by Faye Kellerman.

I'm halfway through Brimstone by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child. They write as a duo and they've written books on thier own. I have yet to dislike one of their books. They are always entertaining and make me laugh at some points. The main character in this one is Agent Pendegrast.
The first one I read of theirs is Relic (a movie was made of this one).

I finished The Da Vinci Code in 3 days. I really enjoyed it. Im taking it back to the library today and will probably pick up another. Probably something on the lighter side, maybe a romance.

You should try one by Diana Gabaldon...I think the first book in the series was The Outlander. I'm not a huge fan of romance stories unless there is a good story there too and these were the best stories I've read. I'm waiting impatiently for the next in the series to come out in September.

I think I saw that movie. Was it the one about a monster in a museum that goes on a rampage, decapitating people?
