I like Dean Koontz, too! My favroite novel by him is "Phantoms." That damn movie didn't do the book justice!

Just finished Ties that Bind by Phillip Margolin and Cold Paradise by Stuart Woods. Started reading to my son Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Ober Skye.

I'm just finishing Stephen King's "Cell". In Cell King taps into readers fears of technological warfare and terrorism. Mobile phones deliver the apocalypse to millions of unsuspecting humans by wiping their brains of any humanity, leaving only aggressive and destructive impulses behind. Those without cell phones, like illustrator Clayton Riddell and his small band of "normies," must fight for survival, and their journey to find Clayton's estranged wife and young son rockets the book toward resolution. It's King going back to what he does best.....telling a story. I seem to be having a hard time really getting into a book lately. Even hubby has commented about my "lack" of reading. I'm finding that it's the same old same old. an interview http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743292332/ref=bxgy_cc_text_a/102-7634453-8400943?%5Fencoding=UTF8

I've just started reading the new Conan series by Dark Horse Comics, it's been awesome so far. I read the first 18 issues in one sitting and I'm going back for the rest this weekend (I think the current issue is #24 or 25). Since that series was so cool I decided to give Red Sonja a try as well, not as good as Conan but still an OK read. The Losers is another good series wich is unfortunately ending this month with issue 32. The only superhero book I'm reading is Jack Staff by Paul Grist (published by Image). It's the only superhero book being published right now that's actually fun to read (IMO of coarse).

Re: What I'm Reading
I'm currently not reading anything. None of the books I've put on hold at the library have come in yet. I'm at a loss as to what to do with my free time. I'm thinking of reading those novels by Sue Grafton. Has anyone else read any of them? And if so, are they good?

Brinna- 03-27-2006

I was at Barnes and Nobel two days ago and picked up a copy of a travel guide spoof called Molvania: A Land Untouched by Modern Dentistry. It's part of a series of fake travel guides supposedly by a company called "jetlag" but actually published by The Overlook Press. They are very funny...especially if you've read real travel guides.

When she hits "Z" I'm going to start them again.

Re: Books
The last three books I read were about giant prehistoric sharks: Meg, The Trench, and Meg: Primal Waters. Pretty cool, eh? I'm currently reading Beach Road by James Patterson and some other guy. Like most James Patterson books, this one is pretty darn good.

Jayusmagnus- 06-09-2006

I am currently reading 3 books. Illium by Dan Simmons , The Sword of Attila: A Novel of the Last Years of Rome by Michael Curtis Ford, and A History of Civilizations by Fernand Braudel. The last book I finished was The Thieves of Heaven by Richard Doetsch. It was an okay caper-thriller with a dash of spiritual/occult tension to give it a kind of unreal zest.

bookie- 06-09-2006

Oh I like Dan Simmons. Don't think I've read that one though. I just read recently that he retired completely. I just finished Patricia Cromwells' At Risk. If it's a lead in to new characters then it's ok, but if not, then it sucked. It was very ummm choppy. I'm almost done, Tami Hoag's Prior Bad Acts. Not bad at all. I love when I'm really not sure who is doing what and there aren't any players that the author hasn't told us about. Next up is Dean Koontz The Husband. I wached him on Bill Mahr yesterday at Amazon. He reminds me so much of Stephen King. I love both their books.

Rufus- 06-09-2006

I've started A Wedding in December by Anita Shreve but have been so tired at night that I just haven't felt like reading. This weekend hopefully!

Rufus- 06-11-2006

It's really good!!! I'm also reading John Stanton's Book on Running. Exciting, eh??? And I'm also halfway through a Barbara Delinsky book but can't remember which one.

slim smurfy- 06-11-2006

In the last couple weeks I've read Angels and Demons, The DaVinci Code, and Deception Point by Dan Brown. Deadly Silence by Jodie Larsen The Twelfth Card by Jeffery Deaver Blow Out by Catherine Coulter Leathal Lies by Laurie Breton Grave Secrets and Cross Bones by Kathy Reichs (the character Temperance Brennon is the inspiration for the show Bones)

bookie- 06-14-2006

The Husband was pretty darn good. A little shaky on the ending in my opinion, but still good. I love when there's an "OMG didn't see that coming" moment in a book. I just started Jeffery Deaver's Cold Moon.

Re: Beach House
I love when there's an "OMG didn't see that coming" moment in a book. I just finished reading Beach House, which has one of those moments. Even though the book jacket warned of a shocking ending, I honestly never saw the big twist coming. Kudos to the writers for pulling it off. I'm now reading another James Patterson novel, The 5th Horseman.
