I was just wondering the same thing Rufus. Again, no offense intended, but I dont see the logic in picking and choosing which rules you follow and then expecting that you will get the golden ticket on judgement day. Who decides which rules are more important? If she is going to sin and have premarital sex anyway, then why not use a condom? I can admit I sin all the time, every day I guess (because I am using birth control). That's why I dont really identify with the Catholic faith. I'm not sure what other denominations say, but I believe having FAITH is what is rewarded, as well as being a good person, regarless of your beliefs

Thank you Lil Miss for your answer. FYI: I was born and raised Catholic, don't practise it anymore.. but when the time comes for me to take the road back to Jesus, I'm sure he won't turn me away.

Condoms, birth control AND PREMARITAL SEX are against the catholic religion. Maybe the girl you're talking about skipped sunday school on the third day. Sorry if I'm offending, but that's where the hypocrisy comes into play. She's obeying her religion and not using condoms or birth control, but she's having sex outside of marriage, where's the logic here???? There is no logic in that, only self-centeredness. Sin is sin is sin, no matter what century you are in or how badly you want to commit a sin. The church can no more say "sex before marriage is okey dokey now!" than it can tell the sun to rise or fall. Man cannot change God's standards to suit man's desires. Well, we can say that such and such a sin is okay, but that won't change God's mind about it.

I think she should have broken two of the rules then! :wink: :wink: I totally understand what you're saying SSS. The times have changed and other things have to as well. With all religions, there are going to be people that ARE that religion simply by birth and baptism, and then people that PRACTICE that religion, and those that are DEVOUT in their religion.

I can see where it comes from. I dont necessarily think it means women shouldnt preach, as God instructs ALL to spread his word, and there wouldnt be women in the mission feild. But as with anything its open for interpretation. Brad pretty much covered my feelings on marriage for priests, and I already understood the preventing life stuff concerning birthcontrol, so my questions have been answered..Im good :wink: Except....I really dont get why its okay to treat the Pope as such an important figure. To me it flies in the face of one of the 10 commandments...the one that says "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". All this hoopla and the way some people have been acting appears to be worshipping to me and it just dont seem right.

Thats what I was saying earlier. I am too young to remember everything the previous pope did, and I am not Catholic, so maybe I do not fully understand. But it sure seems to me that Popes are put on pretty high pedistools. Are they not then bringing God down to human terms in a way?? :?

I think priests should be allowed to marry. I don't understand why not. And someone tell me .... what's the big deal about condoms?? . Condoms make it harder to create children of course!! I'm sorry it is so fos. They have priests molesting chidlren, and thats accepted....but no condoms, no birth control. And no getting married. hmmm!

I expected, and for stupid reasoning to. It was a political move for you ...the thread wasn't political, but of course you would see it that way....wouldn't you.
