Tonight's Elimination - spoiler possibly

The part I hate about this show is people voting for reasons other than the singing ability (or lack thereof) of the people they like. Voting because "X is cute!" or "I feel sorry for Y" or "I'm gonna vote for Z just because Simon said Z was terrible" is just wrong. The voting should have more to do with singing/performance. Exactly, thats what happens when you let preteens decide the fate of a persons career. I still think voting should be limited to one vote per phone number. One person should not be allowed to cast 500 votes for one person, and when you vote for X and then throw Y a pity vote...you are cancelling out your own votes. The good thing is that people in the music industry are watching and if someone does get voted out too early, it might not be a disaster because they could still get a contract if they really are good. You know whats funny...or possibly sad, is the fact that some of the ones who dont win, do better than the winners. Josh Gracin who people panned has had 3 top 10 country songs, his last went to #1. Cant say the same for Kelly, Ruben or Fantasia.

If the best singer of the show doesn't happen to win, they'll be better off than the winner. Almost every year the winner has been less successful than someone that was sent home behind them. The winner is also completely tied to idol contract, for a while. So who knows.
