Okay, I should prolly expound on that 'whew!' just a tad! I have been putting off and putting off an important telephone call (work related) because I just did not want to face the problem, well, I finally made the call today! It wasn't any where near as dreadful as I thought it would be, and everything is fixed now! Gosh I feel so light!

pika- 01-09-2006

I'm glad you elaborated. I wouldn't have known what you meant by "Whew!" alone. Except I probably would have thought it meant you just got done being ravished by Hakeedohn. I like it when something you dreaded turns out not being so bad after all.

It's Girl Scout cookie time! I need to find someone whose kid is selling them to hook me up with some Do-Si-Dos and Thin Mints.

OliviasMommy- 01-13-2006

my daughter is selling them pika, but it might be a little far for me to bring her down to knock on your door and ask if you'd like to buy some do-si-do's or thin mints. I hate selling stuff. Especially cookies, cause I always sell so much at work that I have to borrow a truck to pick the cookies up, then to bring them out here. Ok, not really, but I do have to make several trips to my car. Then I have to collect money and I hate that too. I'm glad I'm not in sales, cause I'd suck at it.

pika- 01-13-2006

I was in Girl Scouts, OM, and I hated selling stuff, too. Several years ago, I saw in ad that the local newspaper was hiring so I went there to find out more. It ended up they were looking for people to solicit newspaper subscriptions. As soon as I heard that, I turned right around and left. I wasn't going to be one of those people calling people at dinnertime to get them to order our crappy newspaper.

Re: Free Camera!
The company I work for gave everyone a brand-new Nikon digital camera to keep for ourselves today. We were told to have fun with it at work and post the photos we took on the company intranet site. The company wants to redifine itself as a fun, creative company. Um, whatever. At least we all got a free camera! Yay!

The manager just emailed the dept,. in reference to the number of sick and floating holidays we have left and said I have 2 sick days and 2 floating holidays that have to be taken before March 2nd. Yippee!! I just emailed her that I want to take off every Friday for the rest of the month leaving one more day to be decided....!

pika- 02-03-2006

You get to use your sick leave for whatever you want? I can call in "sick" when I want to but I wouldn't be able to schedule sick leave in advance, except for a doctor appointment. I wish I could use my sick leave. I have over 100 hours of it. I think the most you can accumulate is 250 hours but I don't have nearly that much. We only get one personal holiday. Next year I'm using my personal holiday to take my birthday off. 2 floating holidays...that's great!!

Kitri- 02-03-2006

Ops, forgot to mention that March 2nd is my last day at Loews. AMC bought us out, no more Loews and after celecrating 100 years in the entertainment industry!! Founder Marcus Loews must be rolling over and over and over in his grave.... I actually thought I used all my sick/floating days but management must be allotting us more since there really isn't anything left to do! We did our very last check run yesterday. So, what the heck are we going to do for a month!! It doesn't take that long to clean out our desks.... But I can't complain, I'll be coming here most of the time! Gotta, go they let us leave at 3pm....

La Belle- 02-03-2006

At work we have a promotion that if you buy two boxes of colored contacts you get a free makeup set. Today, they gave each of us worker bees a set for free

Somebody at work was getting rid of a bunch of books. He asked me if I liked to read and said I was welcome to look through what he brought in and take whatever I wanted. I ended up with about 20 books.

Kitri- 02-10-2006

20 books? Wow! I could never find the time to read that many books! Whelp, I was just talking to a co-worker and she told me that we can take everything in our cubicles home...including the computer! I'm only going to take the keyboard and I might take the calculator, even though some of the numbers are wearing off. Mike, who works in the mailroom also told us that they will ship whatever we want...let's see I have this massive memo board, a small CD radio cassette-recorder, a Sony Dream Machine, personal heater and a few more things I was wondering how the heck I was going to get home!

pika- 02-10-2006

I used to be able to read 4 or 5 books in a weekend, depending on the length of the books and how much time I spent reading. Most of the time anymore, I only have time to read a chapter or two at once so it takes me longer to complete a book.

Spring Break is here! I don't have to go to class next week!!! It will be great to be able to be home with my kitties in the evening. They like to go outside to play when I get home from work but they can't go out when I have to go to class so they'll be happy that they'll get to go out more next week.
