The london terrorist attacks I just felt that even though this is being discussed at RTVP that it should be discussed here.
It absolutely infuriates me that poeple cant even take the train home from work without being safe from crap like this. Like the people on 9/11, the people killed today had nothing to do with these international issues. They were just living their lives like anyone else, and they were killed because of some battle over oil, or anger over capitalism or whatever. In my eyes, that makes the terrorists, Osama, etc. the biggest cowards ever. To kill inncent civilians to try to get a point across is just bullshit.

I agree. What a sad day

same here, when I was just reading about it I didn't feel so bad, but when I saw the videos and the news coverage I realized how bad it really was.

I know there are some people who mistakenly believe that all liberals somehow hate our country and condone terrorism. No, I don't condone it and I'm saddened to learn of the bombings.
*Sigh* I know I don't have easy answers but I also know I'm not going to let fear get the better of me. I also won't leap to racism since I know not all Arab or Muslim people are terrorists. Just like not all Irish people are members of the IRA.
I hope London comes through this okay, the city and the UK are definitely in my thoughts.

ITA, DJ. I didn't hear about the attacks until yesterday afternoon. We have CNN on in our lobby and I finally came out and saw the report. :( I even shed some tears. It saddens me a lot.

I honestly don't know how any government can protect people from something like this. Planes can be protected because getting on a plane is very controlled. But public transportation? Subways, busses, trains? It's just so easy to sneak a bomb on and leave it.

I am so saddened by these attacks on the innocent people of England. They were in no way, shape, or form related to the issues that these terrorists have. And what still infuriates me is the coverage on these Hollywood news segments. They are all concerned about the stars that were there. Get your heads out of the gutter and finally come to the terms with the actual innocent people who weren't just there, but lost their lives. I am a fan of Lisa Kudrow but she was crying because David Shwimmer was in UK at the time. They don't even live there, and it makes me so mad that these "stars" can't see past their snobby noses.

Re: London Bombings I knew it was going to happen, but I doubted it would happen this soon: I've already heard talk from people around here that this is all George W. Bush's fault because he let the London bombings happen. Why, you ask? Because he's looking to wage war against Iran and needed a reason.
Um... ok.

I agree, Tara, and have always thought that anyone who is willing to die themselves could cause great damage in a free society. There just isn't much any government can do to prevent it and still have a free society. Nobody is going to wait 2 hours in line to get on a train to commute to work, and another 2 on the way home.
And when we were preparing for Hurricane Dennis, I thought how easy it would be for terrorists to cause havok in that kind of situation, 'cuz everyone is looking at preparing for the storm more than thinking about preventing terrorism. Can you imagine the chaos of terrorist bombings going off in the middle of a hurricane recovery?

I was even more pissed off that Pussydent Bush scurried home from the G8 summit at the first opportunity he could. I mean, come on! The only thing that he got done was to force the other countries into submission by making themcave and agreeing not to pass restrictions on emissions, oil regulations, or, you know, things that would actually help. He wants to "look into new tachnologies" to go help. Which is more pliable, reducing the amount of damaging agents through alternative-fuels and cleaner oil, or a great big space age Band-Aid for the ozone layer?
Anyways, yes, I was shocked and saddened by the London stuff... Not far from King's Cross, that'd be like them bombing Grand Central Station here... :(

Umm...whichever one lets me keep driving my car and not taking the train or subway everywhere I go?

I work with a group of political fanatics, we kept checking cnn news on the computer all day. Just watching how these cowards, strike the most innocent on their way to work in the morning. I am scared that it is going to happen again here, with no notice. There are so many sleeper cells that are impossible to detect, however I feel we have done a good job in a situation that is so very hard to detect.

They're not doing a good job until the put an end to this and catch the Al Queda and it's leaders. It ain't gonna end. Bush should have known better than to think he could outsmart them. They're far bigger and far meaner.

A good job going to war with the wrong country for the wrong reasons? The London Terrorist attacks makes this perfectly clear. Terror will never be completely defeated, but we are so far from even coming close right now.
The only job that George Bush has done well, if you want to call this situation WELL is killing INNOCENT people.. JUST like, oh the terrorist themselves. Mission accomplished? oh, I think NOT.
