The Bachelor 9: Episode 6 Episode 906
Air Date: 11/13/2006
Lorenzo has his first of three overnight dates with Jennifer. They meet in Gothenburg, Sweden, where neither has ever been before. They go to an amusement park, where they ride the rollercoaster and then they go to an ice bar, where everything is made out of ice, from the furniture to the glasses! Lorenzo says that New York in the winter is colder, and asks Jennifer if she'd ever consider moving to New York. Jennifer says she definitely would since she can teach anywhere. To the camera, she admits she hadn't thought that far ahead and that she would miss her family, but it's a risk she's willing to take for Lorenzo.
She says she's taking this all very seriously, so she's not going to say yes to the Fantasy Suite if she doesn't feel that connection.
Over dinner on the waterfront, he asks her if she's ever been in love, and she answers "twice." Once when she was 16 and a very serious relationship in college. She says that even thought the last breakup was painful, it's good to go through that because now she feels like she's ready to get married and have kids.
Lorenzo, who was concerned about whether she'd open to him, is impressed by her candor.
In turn, she asks him what he thinks makes a relationship work and he says he thinks you need to keep that same level of excitement as when you first meet someone.
He hands her an envelope: it's a note with a key to the Fantasy Suite, if they decide to forego their individual hotel rooms. She tells Lorenzo she would love to spend the night as a couple.
They arrive at the suite, which is decked out with candles and champagne. They hit the outdoor hot tub and Lorenzo tells her how much he's enjoyed their day together. The moon is full and Jennifer makes a wish on it by emptying a glass of champagne over her shoulder.
To the camera, Lorenzo says he's developing stronger feelings for Jen than he ever expected, but he does still have two more overnight dates to go through.
His next date is with Lisa in Budapest. He tells the camera that the hometown visit made him nervous, because of all the wedding magazines she had and her friend showing up with a wedding dress for her to try on. It was also the first time he heard about her timetable for getting married, so he's not sure if she's here for the right reasons.
They go to a wine tasting and take in some local music. He's still not sure if he wants to give her the key to the Fantasy Suite. They take a river cruise, where they drink more wine. He says her parents mentioned she's a big fan of The Bachelor and she says, "It's good TV." He asks her which one she liked the best and she finds fault with all of them, although she says they were all interesting to watch. He asks if she applied for the show before she knew it was going to be him, and she says she did. He wonders why she would do that if she hasn't liked any of the guys so far, and she admits it's kind of weird.
She later says she feels put on the spot and that the conversation didn't go well. Over dinner, she says she's been in love twice. One guy she met in college and moved to Portland with him, but "they lost the passion" and then she met someone else. "While you were still together?" Lorenzo asks, and she says yes. That relationship was very intense, she says. Lorenzo is not happy to hear that they finally broke up for the last time just three weeks before she applied for The Bachelor.
She says she signed up on a whim and didn't think she'd be here, and is really pleased with the way things have happened.
He asks her if she'd be willing to move to New York -- after all, she owns her own home in Portland. She says it's a possibility, but it would take some time.
He brings out the envelope and she tells him she doesn't need to read it because she knows what it says. Even though it's been a challenging day, she says yes, she wants to go to the suite with him.
To the camera, she says she's going to try to work things to her advantage, because it's her last chance to save this date.
They go to the Fantasy Suite and over champagne she admits that dinner was tough on her and that she almost cried. She says she was thinking that he's not that into her and that she's not going to get a rose. She adds that she's felt off all day and that she doesn't want to screw up this important date. She has feelings for him, but she's not sure how he feels about her. He says she wouldn't be here if he didn't care about her.
He tells the camera that she's been so confident before because everything always went according to her plan, so he was glad to know that she does care when things didn't go quite right.
They share dessert together in bed -- fully clothed. But at the end of the date, they kiss, and Lisa later says "there is romance."
Sadie travels to Sicily to meet Lorenzo and confesses to the camera that she's nervous about what she'll do when he pulls out the hotel room key. Privately, he says he's excited to see her again and he loves the way she makes him feel.
She says she knows he's been busy, and since she says she really wants to know, he tells her he was in Sweden and Budapest.
She knows the other two Bachelorettes aren't virgins, so she doesn't know what happened physically, but that she hates thinking about it. She tells him it's great to be alone with him at last and they don't have to think about anything else. He says it's "Sadie Day and Night," which delights her.
He's planned for them to go scuba diving and that he's already checked to make sure it's safe and shark-free. They take a lesson in the hotel pool and after a while the instructor leaves and they kiss underwater.
Next up is a couples massage, outdoors under an awning. She says she's loving all these things that are firsts for her, but that she gets nervous because she likes him and she's feeling a lot of different emotions. The masseuses leave and they give each other massages.
At dinner, he says he's not sure about her feelings for him. She responds that she likes him a lot, ever since the plane ride, when she had to trust him. She tells him he's more mature and sophisticated than any of the other guys she's dated.
He's surprised by how much she opens up to him, and realizes he hasn't really told her much about himself yet. She asks him what he's looking for, and he says he wants someone who is happy with their life and happy to get up every morning. And he's looking for someone who will help him live life to the fullest.
Privately, she says that everything he's telling her is just what she's always wanted to hear and that she's a little scared at how quickly things are moving.
Knowing what's coming next, she asks for a few minutes alone. She wants him to know that she is conservative and that if she accepts the Fantasy Suite card, that will be a really big deal for her. She tells him that she's lost sleep over her decision.
Before she can finish her thoughts, he stops her and says he admires her for who she is and that he's not going to pressure her to take it, or do anything that's not comfortable for her if she does. He does say that he'd love to be able to talk to her off-camera, but that he'll respect whatever decision she makes.
She decides to take the risk so she can spend more time with him. They enter the suite and she oohs and aahs over the rose petals scattered everywhere. There's also a trail of candles laid out on the balcony. They curl up under a blanket on a couch outside and he tells her he's only enjoying being here because of her.
Back in Rome, Lorenzo has to decide whom to let go. Before Lorenzo presents the two roses for the evening, host Chris tells the women that they each have an opportunity to say something to Lorenzo.
Jen says that she had the best time of her life in Sweden and that even though they were freezing at times, he made her warm and that she's glad to be here.
Sadie says that she's loved every minute she's spent with him and that it doesn't even matter what they're doing, as long as she's with him.
Lisa takes a deep breath and tells Lorenzo that she knows that Budapest was challenging but that everyone has bad days and that it means a lot to her that they were able to get through it and have fun together.
Lorenzo thanks them for the compliments and says this is going to very hard so he wants to get it over with as soon as he can.
He gives the first rose to Sadie. The second one goes to Jen.
Chris tells Lisa to say her goodbyes and she hugs the other two women and wishes them luck.
Lorenzo takes her aside and explains how he made his decision. Even though he was drawn to her from the start, he was concerned that her marriage timetable meant that if he ever had asked her to marry him, she would say yes because of that and not because she loved him.
In the limo, she admits that she expected to get a rose tonight. She realizes he thought she wanted to get married for the wrong reasons but she says her timeline is not more important than finding someone she loves.
She adds that she doesn't think that the two remaining women were the best matches for Lorenzo, out of all the women he could have chosen. She starts to say how he made a mistake and then she bursts into tears and can't keep talking.
Back at his villa, Lorenzo thanks Jen and Sadie and they drink a toast of champagne.

The Bachelor: Rome, Episode 6 – To Fantasy Suite or Not To Fantasy Suite?
by Ashley Lundy -- 11/14/2006
We didn’t have an episode of The Bachelor: Rome last week, but it’s back this week and full of juicy drama. Who opens up after a day at an amusement park? Who gets grilled with Lorenzo’s questions all day? Who learns to scuba dive? And, most importantly, who will be our final two ladies. Find out here!
After the Country Music Awards last week, we’re back for the sixth enthralling episode of The Bachelor: Rome. Tonight, my TiVo tells me the episode will show Lorenzo taking the three lovely ladies on exotic dates in Sweden, Budapest, and Sicily. We start the show with a quick recap of all the episodes up until tonight, but you’ve been keeping up, so we’ll skip that.
Hold on, before I go on, I must mention something. I got a TON of reader feedback about Agnese’s elimination two weeks ago. Everyone hates that she is gone. She was very beloved. I even had one reader mention how cool it would be if Lorenzo stunned everyone, turned down both of the available ladies, and flew to Italy to pick Agnese. Amazingly romantic, I must say, but probably against the rules somehow. I heard you all and I sympathize. I liked Agnese too. I agree they had some serious chemistry and if could have worked through the language problem, they would have been a great couple.
We start the show with Lorenzo packing his bags and talking about how excited he is for the exotic overnight dates with the women. He says the goal of the show is not to be left with three women, but to be left with one.
First we get a day with Jen at an amusement park in Sweden. Lorenzo loved the way she interacted with her family, her passion for her job, she loves kids, but mostly how he feels when he’s with her. His only concern is that Jen has a hard time opening up. He thinks an amusement park will make her emotions come out and open her up.
Jen says Lorenzo looks handsome and she missed him more than she realized. She feels like she’s falling for him now and she wants him to get to know her. There are two other girls involved and she has to put it all out there and tell him that she wants to be with him. We see Lorenzo win her a large stuffed animal. Then they play bumper cars.
Ooooohhh. An ice bar. Totally awesome. The coolest place ever. If you have never seen one, then let me just say that it is exactly what it sounds like, a bar made entirely of ice. The tables are ice, the stools are ice, the glasses are ice, the shot glasses are ice, the, oh, you get the picture. Both Lorenzo and Jen are wearing heavy coats and gloves. They have a shot called the Gothenburg and toast to a fun day.
Lorenzo tells Jen that the cold bar doesn’t compare to the cold of New York in the winter. She says she’s from Michigan, she doesn’t mind the cold. He asks her if she has considered moving to New York. Yes, she has and she would do it. She can teach anywhere. Would her family mind? As long as they can visit her anytime they want, it would be fine. They toast to a really fun day and have a kiss.
Lorenzo says he had a day he will never forget with Jen. The fact that she would move to New York means a lot to him. She didn’t just open up, she said things he didn’t expect from her.
As they leave the amusement park, Jen says she is going to name her stuffed animal Fred. Lorenzo says he likes Simon. She decides on Simon Fred. Personally, I thought he looked like a Harvey, but Simon Fred it is.
The couple go to dinner for the evening portion of their date. Lorenzo says tonight is going to be a little more serious. Time is running out and he has a lot of questions for Jen and hopefully, she has some for him.
Lorenzo’s first question is if Jen has ever been in love. Yes, twice. The first time she was very young, but it was very real for only being 16 years old. Then she had a serious relationship in college and she was very in love. The break-up was hard for her, but she is glad she got through it to become stronger. Now she feels like she can get married. Now she feels like she can have kids. She teases that she is being too honest because of the wine.
Jen asks Lorenzo what makes a relationship work with him. He says having a good time, having a lot in common, understanding, keeping it fun, and listening. He thinks, in relationships these days, people get distant and take each other for granted. He talks about the excitement of holding someone’s hand for the first time and I suddenly find Lorenzo very adorable. Why didn’t I notice this before?
It is at this point in the evening that my boyfriend, Chuck, calls me from the local burger joint to tell me that he just witnessed the place get robbed at gunpoint! He was able to run outside during the commotion and call the cops all secret style in the parking lot. I kid you not. Anyway, I have to go rescue him because the police thought he might be too shaken up to drive. So I hit pause on The Bachelor and fly to the rescue.
My man is a-okay though. He’s a tough dude. Unfortunately, the girl behind the counter was inconsolable. And I know what you are all thinking? Yes, we went ahead and ordered some burgers. We were hungry! Besides, the manager gave us the food for free. Seriously, let’s all give it up for Chuck. Wherever a burger is in danger, he’ll be there. I joke, but it’s just a nervous habit. I’m grateful to the good Lord everyone is safe.
Whew. Where was I? Oh, yes, back to Lorenzo and Jen. Jennifer feels like that dinner was pivotal in their relationship. It was nice to talk about serious things and really open up to each other.
Lorenzo gives Jen something that he says is from Chris. It’s a little note explaining that if Lorenzo and Jen decide to forego their individual rooms, they can share the famous fantasy suite. There’s a single key. Oh, that just feels like it could get naughty.
Jen wants to spend the night as a couple and says she would love to. Lorenzo just smiles all goofy.
The suite is FAN-CY. There are candles, strawberries, champagne, moon view, and of course, the hot tub. In the hot tub, Lorenzo tells Jen that he had a great day and night with her. And it keeps getting better. They kiss.
Lorenzo tells us that he has stronger feelings for her and there is not one thing he doesn’t like about her. She blew him away, but he’s got two more overnight dates to go.
Next up is Lisa’s date in Budapest. Lorenzo says today’s date is very important because he still doesn’t know what he needs to know about Lisa. It bothered him that she had wedding magazines in her place, her friend brought the wedding dress over, and there’s that pesky love timeline thing. He doesn’t know if she wants to be on a television show, if she just wants to get married, or if it’s really for Lorenzo.
They meet in a park and Lisa looks fantastic in a red and orange dress. She is excited because her home date went really well. Her parents approved and her dog approved so she can fall in love now. Ookay.
They go to a lime festival. Okay, no it’s a wine festival, but I could have sworn he said lime. They walk around the festival getting, well, let’s face it, plastered.
They go on a dinner cruise where Lorenzo mentions that Lisa’s parents said Lisa’s a big fan of The Bachelor. She loves it and says that it’s good TV. He asks her who her favorite bachelor was. She said Travis was hot, but a total tool. She decides on Andrew Firestone. He was the most entertaining, even if he was a little sleazy.
He reminds her that the show is about finding a husband and the two bachelors she picked are 0-2. (Then again, no matter which bachelors she picked, the result would be he same, since none of them married!) She stutters and says she likes all the guys, they were all interesting to watch. But not to marry? No. Did she apply before she knew who her bachelor was? Yes. Even after she saw a show with a guy she thought was a tool? Yes. Isn’t that weird? Kind of. Oh Lisa, not doing well here, girl.
Lisa tells us that she and Lorenzo had one of their more serious conversations on the boat. She doesn’t think it went well. She felt on the spot.
At dinner, Lorenzo asks her about who she has been in love with. She too, has been love twice. She dated a guy in college for 3 ½ years, but it lost the passion. She met someone else, while still with the other guy, and totally fell in love over a few weeks. They were on again, off again a lot with the last break-up in February. Lorenzo harps on the fact that she broke up for the last time with him, and then three weeks later applied for this show. She says she signed up on a whim and never thought she would be here. Oh, you mean, it wasn’t planned?
He notices that both of her boyfriends moved to Portland to be with her and he honestly wouldn’t move there. He wonders if she would move to New York. She says you have to feel out the situation, it’s a huge move. He says, but yeah, it’s a show, they will get engaged or they won’t. She lamely answers, “I don’t know. Cross that bridge when we get to it.”
Lisa tells us that dinner was intense. She thought they would have some fun, but instead is was just very intense. Again, she was on the spot.
Lorenzo tells Lisa that he isn’t trying to put her in a trap, just trying to understand her. He pulls out the letter from Chris. Lisa tells him that he doesn’t even have to open it. The answer is already yes, she wants to spend more time with him in the fantasy suite.
She wants this last chance to save the date. Lorenzo enjoyed seeing Lisa’s excitement in the suite and it made him excited. She tells him that dinner was tough. She felt like he was grilling her and she almost cried. She thought that maybe he wasn’t that into her. She hated feeling that way.
He says that just because he asks a lot of questions doesn’t mean he’s not into her. She wouldn’t be there if he didn’t have feelings for her.
Lorenzo says what he saw was that Lisa has been relaxed the entire competition because she’s always had a rose and she’s always been confident. Although today, when things didn’t go the way she planned, since she’s a planner, she was nervous. He was glad to see her emotions and see her admitting that things didn’t go according to her plan, but she really cares and is glad to be here.
Lisa says she feels a little insecure about getting a rose at the next ceremony. Even though they had an intense time in Budapest, at the end of the night, there was a little romance. We see them kissing and Lisa promising that things are going to get better. Va va voom.
Now we go to Mazara del Vallo in Sicily for Lorenzo’s date with Sadie. We see a sign for the Kampinski Hotel. Sadie is so excited to see Lorenzo. She is craving alone time with him but she is already dreading the fantasy suite card.
She pulls up and they hug. Lorenzo tells us that he was beyond excited to be alone with Sadie. He can see himself falling in love with her. He likes everything about her. And he likes the way she makes him feel. He’s always reusing his lines.
Sadie asks him about his other dates and where they were. He tells her of Sweden and Budapest. She immediately wonders what might have happened, physically, with the other girls. She hates thinking about it. She is smiling and blushing like a dork while she says talking about this is awkward. What a cutie pie.
Sadie is only going to think about Lorenzo. Lorenzo says it’s “Sadie day and night” and she loves the sound of that. He says he selfishly planned something he wants to do. Scuba diving. She says that sounds fun. He promises she won’t get bitten by a shark because their aren’t any in the pool.
We see Sadie learning to scuba dive in the pool. Lorenzo gives her pointers. They hold hands and do a little swimming in the pool. He pulls her close. The masks and breathing apparatus’s come off and some good kissing ensues.
Sadie tells us she never expected to feel this strongly for Lorenzo at this point. She trusts him and he is the kind of man you can trust.
They are getting outside massages and Lorenzo is savoring the moment. Sadie admits that there have been a lot of firsts for her lately. First scuba diving, first outside massage in Sicily, and first time to fly a plane. It’s good, but she gets little pieces of nervousness because she likes him. It’s good and scary. He says he was nervous, but he knew it was going to be like it was in San Diego. He is glad she is here.
Lorenzo tells us that his only concern with Sadie is how they respond behind closed doors together. Can they have chemistry?
We see them give each other oil massages. Guess the professional masseuses weren’t getting the job done? Sadie knows she is falling for Lorenzo, but she is still very nervous about the fantasy card. She still isn’t sure if she should accept it.
As we get to the romantic evening dinner, Sadie is overly fretting about this fantasy card. She doesn’t know what to do about it. She’s a virgin. It’s a big deal. Lorenzo immediately mentions to her that tonight is going to get a little more serious. Conversation wise. She recognizes it’s getting to the end of the show.
Lorenzo asks if what they have is different from her other relationships. She says it is because he is mature and smart and he makes her feel really good about herself. In the plane was when she decided she likes him a lot. She is in all the way. He has carried himself with dignity and class and she really respects him.
Lorenzo admits that she really opened up to him, but perhaps he hasn’t opened up enough to her. We see Lorenzo ask her if she has any questions for him. She asks him what he wants. He wants the same things she does. Someone to respect him, have the same passions as him, who loves their job, and is excited to wake up every day. He wants to live every day to the fullest. Sadie realizes that everything he is saying is everything she wants. It’s scary.
This is when she excuses herself from the table to go ponder some more about the fantasy card. She is nervous and it’s a big deal to her. She needed a moment to breathe. She needs Lorenzo to understand she is classy and if she accepts the fantasy card, it’s a big deal. Her heart says she should take a risk and go with him, but she just doesn’t know.
Back at the table, in an awkward moment, she tells Lorenzo that she doesn’t know if he is planning on offering her the fantasy card, but it’s not something she is used to. At all. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to spend time with him. She’s lost sleep over it. Lorenzo looks really uncomfortable. He stops her and tells her that he gets it. He likes classy conservative women, that’s why he is attracted to her. He is going to offer her the fantasy suite card. There is no pressure to take it. He wants to get to know her off camera. She says she will take a risk and go with him.
Off to the fantasy suite! There are rose pedals on the bed. A gorgeous deck shows them curled up on a couch. She voices over that Lorenzo’s been nothing but respectful about her morals. He didn’t expect any more than to spend time with her, which is exactly how you would expect a prince to be. Lorenzo has potential written all over his face. He could be the one. She says move over Lisa, move over Jen. I’m thinking she’s getting a rose.
Deliberation time! Lorenzo looks at photos while he makes decisions. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. It’s not an easy thing to do.
Chris welcomes the ladies to the ceremony and reminds them that one lady is going home tonight. Here comes Lorenzo in a fabulous pin-striped suit. He tells the ladies that he had a great time with all of them. He is in a hurry to get it over it because it’s too hard on his side.
The first rose goes to Sadie. I practically leap with joy. I just love me some Sadie.
The next and final rose for the final two goes to Jennifer. Lisa loses out. The loveplan timeline is in the gutter. Well, at least with Lorenzo, it is.
Lisa hugs everyone, kisses Lorenzo and he walks her to the limo. Lorenzo says that Lisa is a great person, but there were problems. He doesn’t want to hurt her more later than he is hurting her now.
He tells her that he always knew she was special. She is a stunning, gorgeous girl. He tells her that he made this decision because of her biological calendar. He is concerned about the plan for her life, because if he asked her to marry him, would she say yes because of her plan or because she actually loves him?
She says she applied to the show for fun and to possibly find someone she would be with forever. He points out that her first reason is fun and that is a concern to him. It’s not about having a great time and traveling. Lisa is crying and rambling about how having fun is the best reason to do anything. Lorenzo walks her out to the limo. She gets a hug and a kiss.
Lisa tells us she really thought she would get a rose tonight. Even with the difference of opinions, they could have made a relationship work. Things were going really well. She knows he was worried about the timeline, but she would never marry someone she didn’t want to be with. She thinks he made the wrong decision. She literally sobs and it’s a little heartbreaking, because she did it to herself.
Lisa thought it was going to be her fairy tale. She says she will always feel like a princess even if she isn’t Lorenzo’s princess.
Next week, we get the Women Tell All episode, with some never-before-seen footage. Lisa is back to face the women who hate her. Erica holds nothing back. Did she ever?
Then, in two weeks, it’s Jen versus Sadie. It’s a family affair as the ladies families’ travel to Castle Borghese. Finally, Lorenzo picks his princess!
We close out the show watching Lorenzo and Lisa butcher the phrase “To your health” in Hungarian. I mean butcher, but hey, they drank all that wine, it’s forgivable.
