The Bachelor 9: Episode 2 Episode 902
Air Date: 10/09/2006
The twelve remaining women are split into two sets who will go on group dates with Lorenzo. The lucky recipient of the first individual date is tree-hugging Lisa.
Italian Agnese considers all the American girls "crazy." Erica complains about sharing a room with three other girls and tells host Chris that the only way it will work is if she pays one of them to be her maid. She's very jealous that Lisa is getting the first individual date, since she also got the first rose and the earrings.
On the first group date at the Colosseum, Agnese gets some alone time with Lorenzo and teaches him Italian for "kiss." Then he and the rest of the girls -- Erica, Sadie, Ellen, and Jami -- ride Vespas around the city. Erica says her license is expired so she can't drive her own, which the other women consider to be a ploy so she can ride on the back of Lorenzo's scooter. During the ride, she tells Lorenzo about the first boy she slept with, at age 16.
Afterwards, Lorenzo surprises the women by presenting them with a rack of beautiful dresses. They can each choose their own dress for the party, which they get to keep and they have fun helping each other pick out the prettiest dresses and getting dolled up for Lorenzo.
Over cocktails, Jami talks tattoos with Lorenzo. He's already noticed the one on her leg, which is of stars and a butterfly. Her thoughts on Erica, who's making the biggest play for Lorenzo: "The most spoiled brat I've ever met."
Erica pulls Lorenzo aside and says she doesn't think Jami is a good match for him since she didn't go to college, but Lorenzo says that doesn't matter to him, he's just looking for a girl with "a good heart." She cries to the camera that Lorenzo "made her feel like a bad person" for judging others and is worried that some other girl who doesn't deserve it will get a rose now instead of her.
Lorenzo compliments Sadie on her beauty and they each talk about what they're looking to get out of this. He says later it's the best conversation he's had so far. In front of all the girls, he presents Sadie with the rose and she gives him a kiss on the cheek. Sadie says privately, "This is the fairy tale I dreamed about!"
A tearful Erica thinks that Lorenzo only picked Sadie because she was "safe and not confrontational."
Back at the house, Lisa gets a basket delivered, with a note from Lorenzo. They're going on a picnic! To the camera, she talks about how she has her whole life mapped out: She wants to be engaged in a year, married in two years, and have kids in five years.
Before Lisa goes on her solo date, the other girls ask her how she's going to feel if Lorenzo doesn't give her the rose this time. She replies that's not going to happen, which strikes the others as overconfident.
Lisa and Lorenzo are taken by limo to the beautiful grounds of the Villa Borghese, one of the most famous parks in Rome, with over 7,000 square meters of gardens, trees, and fountains. Lorenzo rows her across the lake to the spot where they sip white wine. "Dating a prince is the best thing ever," Lisa enthuses. She's thrilled that so far, she's on the right path to make her romantic timeline come true. He says he took her to the park because of all the trees, and jokes that she can even make out with one and he won't tell anyone.
He reveals he's had a few serious relationships, but that he's not looking to get married just to be married. When he says he doesn't understand people who say things like "I want to be married in three years," she realizes that telling him about her five-year plan now will jeopardize getting another rose, so she just smiles and nods.
Over a romantic dinner, Lorenzo tells Lisa one of his hobbies is flying planes and she's welcome to come along, if she's not scared. She says she isn't. He's relieved that she seems interested in him for himself, not for his title or his family, so he presents her with a rose, saying he wants to get to know her better.
A triumphant Lisa now considers herself everyone else's biggest competition.
Back at the villa, the girls discuss when they lost their virginity, and Sadie reveals she's saving herself for marriage. When the other girls consider that strange, she starts to worry they're going to tell Lorenzo.
The next day, the girls are literally jumping and down with excitement when Lorenzo arrives by helicopter the next day to fly Kim, Jeanette, Sarah, Desiree, Jennifer, and Gina to a villa on the Mediterranean.
Things get even better after some cocktails. The girls are in bikinis and Lorenzo takes off his shirt off for some touch football on the beach: Blondes versus Brunettes. Lorenzo says he's in heaven getting tackled by bikini-clad beauties.
Jennifer, who considers herself a "total package" since she's athletic, asks Lorenzo what kinds of sports he played in high school. A former cheerleader, she demonstrates one of her old cheers for him.
Desiree tells Lorenzo she's ready to fall in love and that she's the type of girl to show up at his office for a quickie, but he seems a little put off by how the conversation ends up being all about sex. The others are jealous when the two go wading in the surf, saying there's "more happening out there" than ever happened with Lisa, whom they all dismiss as "boring."
Lorenzo tells Gina she's one of his favorites, but he gives the rose to Jennifer. Kim, meanwhile, drinks too much, throws up, and falls asleep. When Lorenzo wakes her up, she's talking gibberish -- and then mistakes him for the waiter!
Back at the villa for the cocktail party leading up to the rose ceremony, Lorenzo talks to a few girls one on one. He's still concerned about the language barrier with Agnese, but she says she'll study hard if they end up together and surprises him by being the first girl to give him a real kiss.
Kim says she doesn't see anything wrong with falling asleep on the group date, which isn't what Lorenzo wants to hear.
The other girls are appalled when Lisa grabs Lorenzo for a private chat, and then tells Ellen and Sadie to "quit talking crap about her" as she walks by. They're still in earshot when she tells Lorenzo. "Those two? Never ever."
Later, Ellen calls Lisa out on her catty remark and Lisa pretends to not remember saying it and starts crying over being confronted.
Jamie and Desiree decide to be bad and explore Lorenzo's bedroom. They're in his bed when he walks in and catches them! But they're not in trouble -- he considers it a dream come true, especially when they start having a pillow fight. When the other girls go looking for Lorenzo, they're very curious when they find all three on the bed.
While everyone else is dancing, Kim falls asleep in the bed -- again!
At the rose ceremony, Lorenzo gives roses to:
Jeanette
Desiree
Jami
Gina
Agnese
Erica
So that means Ellen, Kim, and Sarah are going home. Gina, who was in tears waiting to hear Lorenzo's decision, and Erica, who also looked very worried, are particularly thrilled to be staying.

The Bachelor: Rome, Episode 2 – Napping on the Beach
by Ashley Lundy -- 10/10/2006
We weathered the painstaking introductions and the first rose ceremony. Now it’s time for date boxes, group dates, an individual date, the Coliseum and helicopter rides. Who gets a rose? Who doesn’t? Who raids Lorenzo’s bedroom? Who falls asleep at the beach? And who is still really annoying Ashley? Find out here!
Welcome back for the second episode of The Bachelor: Rome! I admit that last week was ever so difficult for me. I mean, come on, that was a lot of women! I felt dizzy afterwards. I only had to endure two hours of the 25 beauties, can you imagine how overwhelmed Lorenzo must have felt after an all-nighter? Luckily, the producers had mercy on me (and Lorenzo too). The number of ladies has been cut down to a mere dozen, including one authentic Italian. This is much more manageable.
Chris announces that of the twelve that remain, only nine will go on. There will be two group dates and one individual date. On each date, there will be a single rose that Lorenzo can give to any woman, which makes her safe through the next rose ceremony. Since Lisa was given the very first rose, she has won the first individual date. As usual, date boxes will arrive to give details for each date. The first date box is opened for Erica, Jami, Ellen, Sadie, and Agnese. The date box is actually a miniature trunk. It’s adorable.
Agnese tells us that she has a difficult time communicating with the other girls because she doesn’t speak very good English. She says American girls are crazy as we get a clip of a couple of ladies jumping in the pool with their clothes on. If that makes a girl crazy, then I’m guilty.
Erica tells us she is not impressed by the castle. She complains to our host about having to share a room with three girls and she doesn’t see any maids. Chris confirms that there are definitely no maids. She says she will have to hire one of the other girls to be her maid and hopes Lorenzo is worth it. I still do not like Erica and I’m not afraid to say it. Even her voice is getting on my nerves.
Lorenzo is nervous about his first group date. He never dates more than one woman at a time – and that’s if he’s lucky. He takes the ladies to the Coliseum and they take pictures with gladiators or chariot riders of sorts.
Lorenzo tells us that he doesn’t really understand much of what Agnese says, but he could listen to her all day.
Lorenzo and the ladies go touring through the city on blue scooters. Erica says her driver’s license is expired, so she has to ride on the back of Lorenzo’s scooter. The other girls can sniff Erica’s bull and certainly aren’t buying it. Still, Erica rides with Lorenzo and blabbers on about how he has nice abs and gives details of her first sexual experience. Maybe I’m just wishing here, but Lorenzo seems uncomfortable. Please, let him be getting tired of her already.
Lorenzo has a surprise for the ladies. He leads them to a dressing room with a rack of gowns. The ladies can choose any dress they want and, as an added bonus, they get to keep the dress. Jami says it was the sweetest date of her life. The women meet Lorenzo on the balcony for cocktails. They have a phenomenal view of the Coliseum. Ellen says it was a fairytale and she doesn’t want to wake up because it was a great dream. I forgot she was there.
Meanwhile, the ladies back at the castle are there when Lisa receives her gift box, which is a picnic basket. The note says she and Lorenzo will spend the day at his favorite park. Desiree thinks Lisa is acting arrogant. Desiree, baby, she can’t help it if Lorenzo picked her.
Back at the date, Erica grabs Lorenzo and steals him away. He asks her if there is anyone she doesn’t like. She tells Lorenzo that Jami isn’t right for him because she didn’t go to college. Lorenzo doesn’t care if his dream woman has a fancy education, he just cares if they have a good heart. Erica thinks that sort of thing does matter. They seem to be politely having a disagreement.
Later, Erica is crying to the camera about how Lorenzo doesn’t have the same views as she does. He doesn’t judge people and she does. She doesn’t want any other girl to get the rose because they don’t deserve it. I want to slap her.
Sadie and Lorenzo get a few minutes alone. Sadie asks Lorenzo if he’s looking to get married. He says he wouldn’t be doing this if he didn’t believe he could find somebody here. Lorenzo tells us that Sadie really opened up to him and it was the best conversation he’s had since he’s been there. Therefore, Sadie gets the special rose! She is safe through the next rose ceremony. Erica is crying about not getting the rose. Now she doesn’t want to sit through the rose ceremony because she will be too embarrassed. I’d be embarrassed if I were her too, but for totally different reasons.
It’s time for Lisa’s individual date. She tells us about her “love plan.” She wants to be engaged in a year, married in two, and have kids in five. Before her date, she chats with some of the other girls and they ask her how she will act if she doesn’t get the rose. She tells them that is not going to happen. She’s staying.
Lorenzo takes Lisa to Villa Borghese, the largest park in Rome. Oh, and it has his name on it. He says it’s very important to his family history. They sit, drink wine on a blanket, and watch the ducks swimming on a pond. It is pretty darn romantic. Lorenzo points out all the trees and tells Lisa she can make out with them and he won’t tell a soul. They talk some about their past relationships. Lisa decides to wait to tell Lorenzo about her “love plan” because it might freak him out and she wants that rose.
Back at the castle, the girls are eating apples dipped in chocolate fudge (Yum!) and talking about when they lost their virginity. Sadie admits that she is still a virgin and is waiting for marriage. She will only date a guy who respects her decision. The other girls seem more amazed than anything. Sadie seems to be blushing a little.
It’s night time now for Lorenzo and Lisa. They are having some grub. It looks like burgers. That’s not quite so romantic. He tells her he loves to fly and she says she would love to fly with him sometime.
The next date box arrives at the castle. It’s a basket full of red and orange beach towels. Jennifer, Sarah, Kim, Desiree, Jeannette, and Gina are going to the Mediterranean coast.
Now, Lorenzo and Lisa are looking at statues. Lorenzo says it was the perfect day, the perfect night, the perfect evening with the perfect person. He gives her the next special rose and she can’t snatch it out of his hands fast enough. She thinks she is the biggest competition to the other girls. I can’t really argue with that. She certainly has had the least to worry about so far.
We see Lorenzo getting in a helicopter and going to pick up the girls for the beach trip. The girls are freaking out about the helicopters. Erica is jealous. Lorenzo says he’s never seen women so happy to see him his whole life. I have always wanted to go on a helicopter ride, so I think that is wicked awesome.
They arrive at a villa right off the beach with an open bar. They have a few drinks and then play a little tackle football in their bikinis. Lorenzo takes his shirt off and Desiree thinks he looks great. Lorenzo says he enjoyed all the girls tackling him and each other. He has never enjoyed football so much. He is in hog heaven.
Jennifer bravely comes to talk to Lorenzo. He says she was the only one who tried to get to know him. She does a cheerleader jump for him and he loves it.
Lorenzo says he’s been thinking about that rose all day and he’s ready to give it away.
We see him ask Desiree if she has a serious side. She says she came to fall in love. She’s ready. She’s the type to show up at his work and have “fun” in his office. Lorenzo does not seem down with that. She goes on that she wants to be intimate at all hours of the day. At the end of their talk, she lets out an “it’s on, baby!” Lorenzo says he hasn’t been called baby since he was in diapers, but since it’s Desiree saying it with a big smile on her face, he loves it. Geez. I still don’t.
The other girls are smack-talking about Desiree and Lisa. Kim appears to be plastered. She even hiccups when she’s talking. Gina gives her the sourpuss face. We have our first sourpuss sighting, everyone! Kim starts cussing, grabbing her breasts, and kissing Jeannette. We get a private moment with her on the beach in which she says she is going to throw up. Then she falls over. Literally.
Lorenzo says that Jennifer was surprisingly cool and he wants to express his feelings for her. He enjoyed his time with her the most, so she gets the last special rose. Desiree is completely bummed out. She can’t believe Lorenzo didn’t feel the chemistry between them. The girls playfully talk to a passed out Kim.
Lorenzo comes up and brushes Kim’s face. She wakes up to everyone looking at her and laughing. She is so startled she begins to blurt out random phrases such as “I hate you loof” and “blasphemy.” It is funny as hell. She sits up and tries to get her wits about her. She realizes that Lorenzo is standing there and tells the other girls she thought he was the waiter. The girls say they were laughing with her, but Kim doesn’t think so. I don’t either.
With all the dates over, Lorenzo wants to have some one-on-one time with a few of the girls before the rose ceremony. He speaks with Agnese. He is still worried about the language barrier but he seems to like her quite a bit. She plants the first real kiss on him. He seems completely into it then realizes what’s happening and pulls away. He tells the camera that it was a wonderful surprise.
He speaks with Kim. She is not embarrassed about the group date. She took a nap on a long day and doesn’t think that’s a big deal. But Lorenzo says he was shocked by her falling asleep. They both think they haven’t had a real conversation so far. Yet, they don’t seem to make any strides to correct it. No chemistry here whatsoever.
Ouch! Desiree shows Lorenzo her bruises from football. She must bruise easily.
Lisa asks Lorenzo if he wants to go sit outside for a second. He agrees and as they walk past Ellen and Sadie, Lisa tells them to quit talking crap about her. Ellen and Sadie do not appreciate that statement. All the girls start hating on Lisa for a minute for getting so much time with Lorenzo.
Desiree and Jami are bored and decide to explore the castle. They find Lorenzo’s bedroom and start snooping around in his underwear drawer. Apparently, he is a boxer kind of guy. They are rolling around in his bed because Desiree wants to know that her body has been in his bed. That’s a little creepy. Lorenzo comes in and he’s not angry in the least bit. He says it is a dream come true! The girls have a pillow fight and Lorenzo is grinning ear-to-ear.
Ellen confronts Lisa about the crap talking statement. Lisa claims to not know what they are talking about, and then goes outside to cry a little. She wishes they hadn’t confronted her on a rose ceremony night.
Finally, the ladies go looking for Lorenzo. They find him in his bedroom with Desiree and Jami. Sarah says she checked all three of them for ruffled hair or clothing. All of the sudden, they crank up the tunes and see if Lorenzo can cut the rug. It’s hard to say, but he doesn’t look too bad in the dancing video montage. Kim, of course, takes a nap on Lorenzo’s bed. I think she wants to go home.
It’s time for Lorenzo to make his choices. Lisa, Sadie, and Jennifer have already received roses and are safe. There are six more roses to give away. Before he begins, Lorenzo tells the ladies he would date them all if he could. I’m not so sure they would be happy with that, buddy.
The first roses are given to Jeannette, Desiree, Jami, and Gina. I don’t remember hearing much from Jeannette or more than two words from Gina the whole episode. Agnese also gets a rose, and the final rose goes to Erica. I want to throw my size 8 Skecher at the TV. Erica? I would think sleepy Kim is a better choice than Erica. Then again, at least Erica acts like she wants to be there. Oh, Kim, why did you have to be so sleepy?
Sarah says Lorenzo is somebody she could see herself with and it hurts to put her heart out here. Kim is surprised that he picked Erica over her. Ellen is crying and says she’s not ready to go home.
Next week we get more spectacular dates in Rome. Oh, there is a two-million-dollar diamond necklace up for grabs. Erica has some sort of meltdown and there’s lots of romance and hugs. We close out the show with Jami trying to teach Agnese how to say “y’all,” “right on,” and “awesome.” I love my fellow Texans. Well, except Erica.
