The Audition Tapes
I was glad Bo's audition was finally shown last Wednesday. I wasn't all that impressed with it, though. He sounded a little off. I think he's improved quite a bit since then.

Honestly, Anthony has not improved one bit.. And Bo's was just bleh. The girls did good.

Re: Anthony
Yeah, the only thing about Anthony that changed was that he has stopped wearing glasses. He didn't get better voice-wise. In fact, he might have gotten worse.

Vonzell has really stepped up her game, and what I really admire about her is that she always takes risks. She never plays it safe like Bo and Carrie have been known to do. She has a great personality too. Bo and Vonzell would make a great final two. Carrie is the same whether you look at the screen or not, just a pretty voice.

Bo is the safest AI contestant ever. arugh.

So Belle, you think Bo has a lock on the win? I really don't have a clue who will win, but I have a bad feeling for Vonzell...

But he is very much like Josh Gracin...Wouldn't budge for a second away from his comfort zone. I just don't think that Bo is good enough considering that he has been a SAFE song selecter for the entire season.

I dont get whats so bad about being safe with your song choices. Its a competition and you want to do well so I would think picking songs you know you can do well with would be the way to go. As for seeing if you can sing other types of music...why? If you are a rock singer, you probably arent going to be cutting many country or broadway show tune CDs, or I dont see Carrie suddenly deciding to put out a jazz CD anywhere down the road. Stick with what you are good at.

La Belle- 05-16-2005

Bo has not taken a single risk this season. I don't like his style, and it defintely does not help that he has not gotten off of his comfort zone. Yes, his cd will be rock, but it'd be nice to know that the winner (if he happens to win) can do something else. He hasn't proven this yet.

As for overall performance and range I think Vonzell has it easily, though Carrie is becoming a better performer. Carrie has the voice, for certain, and she'll probably sell more CDs than any other Idol. Tomorrow night is big; any little mistake and they're out. I'd love to see Bo knock out an aggressive song that shows a little range. I'd like to see Carrie perform like she's actually enjoying singing. And I hope Vonzell can get over whatever was bringing her down last week and do her thing.

Re: Music Styles
Stick with what you are good at. Exactly! Carrie is at her best when singing country-western. She should always sing that style. Why make her sing a style she isn't comfortable with? I think we would get better contestants on the show if the styles were more wide-open. Even though I don't care for rap, I'd love to see a rapper on the show. That would be fun... as long as he was good.
