TAR8 Pool Rules
I tried to incorporate all the elements of The Amazing Race in some way. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Otherwise, jump in and enjoy yourself! TAR8 POOL RULES SQUADS Squads will consist of 4 TAR teams from the show – One “Squad Leader” who gets double points and three others who will get regular points. Squads can be changed at any time during the Pool by giving up 35 points per team changed, per leg completed—double for squad leaders. For example, if your squad leader is eliminated after leg 1 and you want to replace them, it will cost you 70 points to do so (35 x 1 leg completed x 2 for being a squad leader). If you want to do the same thing after leg 5, it will cost you 350 points (35 X 5 legs completed X 2 for being a squad leader). Just let me know by PM or e-mail anytime you want to make changes.YIELD
Each Pool player will receive 3 Yields to use on any other Pool player at any time during the Pool, subject to the following rules:
a. Each week anyone wishing to use a yield must e-mail me at justbrad@bellsouth.net or PM me the name of one Pool player they wish to yield. Include your Pool name and put YIELD in the subject line to help me distinguish it from other e-mail.
b. You may only make one Yield nomination per leg (so you can’t use all of your Yields at one time).
c. Yield nominations will be accepted until the start of the Race (7:00 PM Central time) each Tuesday, beginning with the first episode on September 27th.
d. The Pool player receiving the most Yield nominations by the deadline will be Yielded that week, resulting in a penalty of -60 points. In the event of a tie, each of the tied players will equally split the -60 points.
e. Yield nominations cast for any Pool player other than the Yielded Pool player will be considered unused and may be used later at your discretion. For example, if during week 1 Jayusmagnus received 6 of 10 Yield nominations, he would lose 60 points and those 6 that nominated him would have only 2 Yields left to use during the rest of the game. The 4 players that nominated someone else would still have 3 Yields to use during the rest of the game.
f. When posting the scores, I will also post the name of the Pool player yielded as well as the names of those who nominated the Yielded player only. Nominations for anyone else are considered “unused” and so will not be revealed.
ROADBLOCKS
Pool players may select any 2 individuals from their squad as their designated Roadblockers. Each time that a Roadblocker performs a Roadblock, they earn 10 points. If your Roadblockers finishes first, their points are doubled.
Roadblockers may be changed anytime during the Pool without penalty, as long as changes are e-mailed or PM’d to me by 7:00 PM Central time on Tuesday.
DETOUR – BOOT OR SHOOT?
In Boot, Pool players must submit a list of Amazing Race teams in the order that they believe the teams will be eliminated. Number 1 will be the first team eliminated, 2 the second, and so on. 20 Points will be awarded to Pool players for each team elimination they correctly predict. Most Pool players are familiar with a boot list, so this will not be a complicated task, and the odds are good that you can get at least a few points with this option.
In Shoot, Pool players select 2 legs that they believe will offer a Fast Forward opportunity. Pool players correctly predicting a leg in which racers are offered a Fast Forward will be awarded as many points as necessary to “shoot” them into first place! There should be at least 8 legs (some may span 2 episodes) since there are 10 teams, and possibly more if there are non-elimination legs. It’s up to you to decide how many legs there are, and if you predict a FF in leg 10 and there are only 9 legs, that’s just part of the risk with this Detour. The odds are against you in this Detour, but the payoff could be huge.
If no Fast Forwards are offered during the show (and how much of a bummer would that be???), I will draw a number out of a hat and use that.
In the event that multiple Pool players correctly predict a Fast Forward leg, only the player to turn their Detour choice in first will shoot to the top of the leaderboard. All others will be tied for second place.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU BEFORE THE FIRST EPISODE (September 27th)
1) A Squad – 1 Squad Leader and 3 other teams
2) Roadblockers – 2 individuals from any teams in your squad
3) Detour choice (Boot or Shoot) and its respective information (boot list or Fast Forward predictions)
4) The name of the Pool player you want to Yield during the first episode, if anyone.
Example:
1) Gaghan (leader), Schroeder, Aiello, Rogers
2) Roadblockers: Carissa, Brittney
3) Detour: Shoot - Legs 3 & 7
4) Yield - Pepette :twisted:
