Suggested reading for the housewives
I found this article and thought it was funny. Gabrielle's suggested reading especially had me LMAO! 'Desperate' for diversions BY SHERRYL CONNELLY With "Desperate Housewives" on a rude hiatus (a new episode won't air until next Sunday), we can only hope the five ladies of Wisteria Lane are putting their time to good use - not reading trashy novels, but picking up the books that could help them heal their wounds, change their troubled lives. For each, we recommend a title or two they might pull down from the self-help shelf. BREE VAN DE KAMP (Marcia Cross): Just in case she decides to join her husband on a new sexual adventure, Bree should be perusing "Sex Tips From a Dominatrix" by Patricia Payne and Maurice Vellekoop. It will teach her how to go there. SUSAN MAYER (Teri Hatcher): Susan, Mike Delfino may not be a murderer, but something's going on with him. Just in case, skim "The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha Stout. Also, check out "I'm Not Mad, I Just Hate You!: A New Understanding of Mother-Daughter Conflict" by Kyranna Sutton. Pay close mind to the section that warns single mothers against confiding too much in their teenage daughters. LYNETTE SCAVO (Felicity Huffman): Lynette, those kids are way out of control. It's time to hit the books, specifically, "1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12" by Thomas W. Phelan and "Settling Limits with Your Strong-Willed Child" by Robert J. Mackenzie. They can only help. GABRIELLE SOLIA (Eva Longoria): Gabrielle, no day job, even one where you get to wear a negligee, is going to dig you out of the financial hole you're in. Strongly recommended reading: "Prince Charming Isn't Coming: How Women Get Smart About Money," by Barbara Stanny. EDIE BRITT (Nicollette Sheridan): For you, Edie, there's a dear children's book with pictures that will teach you to make nice. Have someone read you "How to Be a Friend : A Guide to Making Friends and Keeping Them" by Laurie Krasny Brown, illustrated by Marc Brown.
