Rock Star vs. American Idol After watching Rock Star: INXS, it's going to be hard to go back to watching American Idol when it returns in Jaunary. Rock Star is so much better in more ways, it's a real shame it hasn't caught on here and become the hit it deserves to be.
The song selection is better. The talent is by far better - not only can everyone sing well on Rock Star, they all have great stage presence and know how to work the crowd. Heck, they've proven they all can write their own songs and play instruments! There are no shy wallflowers on this show. The elimination show is leaps and bounds better than American Idol, I cannot stress how much better it is. The judges (INXS) probably aren't better than Simon, Paula, and Randy. They don't excatly give great criticism all the time. And they surely aren't as entertaining as Paula and Simon. Also, Ryan Seacrest is a better host than Brook Burke.

Pretty much agree with everything you said, Matt! I'll just add that the early shows of AI with all the bad singers is always funny to me. And I totally think the elimination process on Rock Star is better than AI. Plus, hey, it's rock and roll, man; gotta love it!

I beg to differ, Matt. I think the majority of the RockStar people cannot sing. BUT, they do have great stage presence and are better at performing.
I sing well and have a hard time listening to pitchy, off key notes. It irks me to constantly hear INXS praise the crappy singers. But, whatever........if I don't like the winner I won't buy the music.
This competition has turned out much better than I first anticipated.
