Recap, Week 5 (8/10) IRAQI PEACH PLUCKED
Evicted 5-1, Erika New HoH
The Legion of Doom has spelled the end of Kaysar, one of the most influential players in S-6. The Iraqi Prince is evicted in a 5-1 vote. Erika proves too quick on the buzzer for James as she wins the HoH in a tense competition that has the viewers on the edge of their seats.
KAYSAR KISSES UP
Kaysar takes some time out with gal-pal Erika, hoping to win her vote, “I’ve been good to you,” he says quietly, but “I’m not going to beg you for a vote.” After Kaysar’s deft attempts to cajole her into promising support, Erika is less than reassuring in her answers, sidestepping the issue with, “I honestly don’t know if my vote makes a difference.” Kaysar reminds her of his past support in the game, but she remains noncommittal. In the Diary Room, Erika admits her vote is a case of “head verses heart.”
James feels confidence in his chances of staying in the house this week. His main targets remain his former allies S-6, but for now he is lying low and still playing the “loyal” S-6 member.
Still on the hunt for votes, Kaysar meets with George in the storage room. As Kaysar starts his spiel about playing the game with dignity and honesty, George stops him, admitting that he does like Kaysar because he is one of the honest people in the house, and one of the few people who treated him well in the beginning of the game. “You’re one really good guy. (We’ll) see what we can do,” George counsels him, before sharing a hug. On a roll, Kaysar then tracks down Boogie to propose a deal of S-6 and Chilltown against the rest of the house. Boogie listens intently, admitting later in the Diary room, “Will and I are just sitting back accepting offers right now.”
Host Julie Chen checks in with the HouseGuests. Asking if they were shocked with the amount of prizes grabbed by the players in this week’s PoV Competition, most are not surprised by the greed displayed. Julie asks if George will be able to keep going when he returns to his Slop diet next week. George is all smiles as he laughs, “Sure!” Good luck, Chicken man.
MAMMA’S BOYS
Will and Boogie are mischievous individuals, yet they are a formidable alliance in the BIG BROTHER: ALL-STARS house. We get a backstage peek at Will’s real personality through his Mom. Will’s proud mamma reminisces that while her son was always a little shy at school, he always had girlfriends. Of Will’s sarcastic relationship with Janelle, his Mom sniffs that her boy is only talking to Janelle out of strategy. It’s Howie who worries her, and she “wishes (Howie) would keep his hands off (Will).”
Boogie’s mom beams with pride over her son’s BIG BROTHER achievements. Every child fears the next public admission from their own mom, let alone having Mom do it on national television. Boogie’s mom smiles, “Mike was a chubby little boy,” but she tells us he lost all the weight after joining the speed skating team as a teenager. Boogie has since blossomed into the lovable flirt that he is today. Mamma-Boogie suspects that “Mike and Erika do have a secret alliance” that will come out as a surprise later in the season. Of Boogie and Will’s master-manipulation game-play, Mamma-Boogie laughs, “I think they just enjoy being evil.” Will’s mom thinks that her boy “will go all the way. That’s my boy!”
HOH HEARTACHE
Julie has a one-on-one chat with Danielle about her time as HoH. Danielle admits that she needed to take the power in the house this week to start making her move in the game. She reveals that she was angry with James for taking the phone call from home when she sacrificed it in order to try and win the PoV. Danielle apologizes to her family for making what she feels was the wrong decision about the call.
James and Kaysar are asked for final words, with James thanking everyone first. James speaks confidently, whereas Kaysar speaks as a man defeated. As the men become quiet, Julie reminds us of James’ win last week of the power to nullify an eviction vote. James is then asked to go to the Diary Room to reveal whose vote he will cancel out. James immediately names Janelle. He smiles and returns to the living room.
DAY OF THE JACKAL
Julie invites the first HouseGuest to cast his live vote: Marcellas walks into the Diary Room and votes out Kaysar. Howie is next, voting out James. Erika follows him, voting out Kaysar. The next vote is cast by Janelle to evict James. Will then casts his vote against Kaysar. George follows with an eviction vote against Kaysar, and the final vote is cast by Mike, who also votes to evict Kaysar. Kaysar is sent home in a 5-1 vote.
Julie welcomes Kaysar outside the house, wishing him a happy birthday. Kaysar admits it is hard to be on the block with his “friend and ally” James. Julie reveals the truth of James’ defection to Chilltown and the Legion of Doom alliance with Danielle. She even goes as far as to quote James’ bitchy comments of the past weeks, leaving Kaysar shaking his head with disappointment. Utterly unimpressed with his former ally, Kaysar has little to say other than, “I’m not cut out for this game.” He looks grave as he sighs, “In the end, it was just one stab in the back after another.”
BOO WHO?
The HouseGuests are enjoying a quiet moment in the kitchen when Erika screams, swearing that she has just seen Allison’s reflection in the mirror. Her housemates, however, aren’t convinced that it is a genuine sighting. The ghost sightings continue as Janelle also finds herself staring at a ghostly face, sending her screaming from her bedroom. Then big-man Boogie spots a spirit in the bathroom mirror, pushing Erika and Janey out of the way as he runs for his life. “I saw it in the reflection in the mirror,” he says as he hides behind Janey.
It turns out things have been disappearing from the House over the past few days. When the housemates come together for the BIG BROTHER séance, they chant, “Spirits of the BIG BROTHER House, reveal yourself in the looking glass” The first ghost to appear is Bunky, then Alison with a biting message for Erika and Janey. Next Josh and then Holly appear with items that vanished earlier in the week. Holly chirps, “Paging doctor delicious!” Cappy appears to remind them that it’s “lights out, bitches.” The last ghost to appear is a chicken wearing George’s Mardi-Gras necklaces. The HouseGuests clap and enjoy the show.
SPEED QUEEN
The HoH Competition, The Ghosts of Seasons Past, is announced. Once again, this week will be filled with a week’s worth of competitions filled with “blasts from the past.” Julie explains that through a series of True/False questions, the HouseGuests will be tested on their knowledge of past HouseGuests. Having been recently visited by the ghosts of some former HouseGuests, and having held the séance the night before, everyone should be pretty up-to-date on their BIG BROTHER predecessors. A HouseGuest who gets the answer wrong or is slowest to answer is eliminated. The last person standing is the new HoH.
The first eliminated is the slowest to answer, George. The second to be eliminated for the same reason is Marcellas, and then Janelle. Howie is the next eliminated, then Will and Mike. James and Erika are left to play against each other. Erika is the fastest to answer and is awarded the HoH.
COUP D’ETAT
Julie then announces a new twist that puts the game on a whole new level: the Coup d’Etat. Whoever wins this power will have the ability to overthrow the HoH and replace their nominations on the spot at any of the next three evictions. The Coup d’Etat has an added twist, though, as only the winning HouseGuest will know what they have won, and the power will remain secret until it is used.
New HoH Erika is not allied with the Legion of Doom, so what will she do? The S-6 alliance has been decimated, with Janelle and Howie now vulnerable. Will they be targeted, or will Chilltown be in Erika’s sights? Don’t miss the next episode of BIG BROTHER: ALL STARS, Sunday, August 13, 8pm ET/PT, only on CBS.
Due to technical malfunctions of the buzz-in device, Big Brother will be redoing the Head of Household Competition. It will be broadcast during Sunday night's show.http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother7/show/wk05/thu01.shtml

Big Brother: All-Stars, August 10 - Your Past Comes Back to Haunt You
by Sandy Lamparello -- 08/11/2006
It’s eviction night in the Big Brother: All-Stars house! Season six is about to take their first loss. Will it be Kaysar or James (right)? Who learns a hard lesson? And what’s up with all the supernatural activity in the house? Click here for all the details!
Buona sera Big Brother fans! Yes, I’m back again. Usual Thursday recapper Mike DeGeorge hopes to be back soon though! Four “All-Stars” have already been evicted, and 10 houseguests remain in the house. HOH Danielle nominated James and Janelle for eviction. Janelle scored the most points in the cemetery veto competition. She caused the house to lose their beds and hot water, put some of the houseguests on slop for the week, and gave up her right to play in the next veto competition. Danielle ended up in solitary confinement for 24 hours. Marcellas won a slop free pass for the rest of the summer, Mike won a plasma television and a trip for two to Aruba, and Will won $5000. James won a phone call from girlfriend (and Big Brother 6 houseguest) Sarah and a margarita party for the whole house (slop eaters and Danielle excluded). Janelle removed herself from the block and Danielle nominated Kaysar in her place.
Voiceover guy recaps everything we’ve seen up to now. Cue the theme music! Julie joins us, wearing all black with what looks like the fringe of a lampshade at the top. She recaps the recap. You’ve already seen it, read about it, and discussed it. So, I’ll spare you any further recap. It’s day 39 and someone from season six is going home. The live vote and eviction is coming up. And for the first time in Big Brother history, a houseguest will have the chance to win an unprecedented power that could change the way the game is played. It’s the Coup d’Etat, and Julie will tell us more about it a little later.
But first, James and Kaysar are members of the same alliance who are both fighting to stay in the game. What will the friends do to save themselves. Cue black and white clip of Janelle removing herself from the block and Danielle nominating Kaysar in her place. It’s about numbers. In color, Janelle hugs Kaysar. He is not surprised that Danielle put him on the block. He’s not too happy about it and he’s going to do everything in his power to try to stay in the game but his time is running out. James says it was agreed upon that he would go up as a pawn, as we see Howie pat him on the shoulder. Unfortunately, James says, Janelle was able to win the veto. If they can’t get rid of Janelle this week then the best secondary target is Kaysar. You didn’t really expect him to say he was the best second choice, did you?
Outside, Kaysar and Erika talk. He tells her he’s been good to her and she says she knows he has. Kaysar says whenever he gives her his word on something he always tries his best to make it happen. Erika says, “I know.” About 6 times. Kaysar says he campaigned for her when she was on the block. Erika keeps repeating, “I know.” Kasyar is not going to beg for a vote, but… Erika honestly doesn’t know if her vote makes a difference. Not with James holding the nullification card it doesn’t. Kaysar says it could, and asks her what about later on down the line when she needs someone she can trust. Erika replies that her name as a floater was put up there a lot. Kaysar reminds her that every single time he sat there and put his a$$ on the line for her. But he’s not going to beg for a vote. He continues that now he knows it really doesn’t matter what sort of respect you afford people. Diary room Erika says she enjoys hanging out with Kaysar and she probably likes him the best out of everyone in the house. So it definitely is a head versus heart kind of thing, but she knows that Danielle wants Kaysar gone, though she doesn’t know if that’s best for her. Kaysar tells her it’s up to her but he thinks she already made up her mind. She tells him she honestly hasn’t. She asks him for some time. He shrugs, says that’s fine and he appreciates it, and heads inside. Erika hates this game. “DECEIT” lingers on the screen.
In the bug room, Janelle and James talk. She says either way, one of them is leaving the game. Diary room James says when it comes to the votes this week; he’s taking everything into consideration. He can nullify someone’s vote because he won that card in the spider web HOH competition. He has Will and Mike, and he has to get Marcellas, Erika, or George to vote for him. He thinks things might actually be working out for him. Janelle is pissed. If she wins HOH she is going to put Danielle up and asks James to vote her out. James says if he is there she has his vote. Diary room James says if he can make S6 believe that he thinks he is going home, “the best actor award for BB7 goes to myself.” He tells Janelle there are so many different scenarios and dynamics.
George and Kaysar talk in the storage room. Kaysar tells George that his thing is, the real campaigning starts the first day, with how you treat people. George says one thing he likes about Kaysar is he speaks the truth. There were not a lot of people in the beginning of the game who were talking to George. He can’t tell Kaysar what he’s going to do, but he will remember what Kaysar’s done. Kaysar says he understands, and if he has wronged George then he should send him out of the house. George says Kaysar hasn’t done anything to him. They laugh and share a hug. George tells Kaysar he is “one really good guy.”
In the bug room, Mike asks Kaysar if he is fighting to stay. Kaysar suggests to Mike that they vote out James, and then the remaining three S6 players will team up with ChillTown and take out the floaters. Mike tells Kaysar he definitely trusts him more than James. Kaysar says there is loyalty between Mike and Will, and there is more loyalty between S6. That makes for better chemistry if they can pull everyone together. Mike says they would become the final five and then whatever happens happens. Kaysar says yes, he is putting that out there right now. Diary room Mike says for the first time, ChillTown is sitting in a win-win situation. They are sitting back and accepting offers for deals, to see who can do what for them.
Kaysar and Janelle, also in the bug room (the other rooms are seriously lacking in airtime tonight), discuss Kaysar’s conversations with George and Mike. Janelle says that’s awesome. Diary room Kaysar says he knows George said he’s leaning towards voting for him. I didn’t hear that, but okay. He’s always got Howie and Janelle. He needs two more votes, and that would be ChillTown. If he can get their votes he’ll be here to stay and start decimating Erika, Marcellas, and Danielle. Those are the clear targets. He tells Janelle they have brought it upon themselves. Janelle says this is really going to crush their dreams. They laugh.
It’s time to talk to the houseguests! It’s been quite a week, the veto competition made some of them very happy and made some of them extremely annoyed. WHAT is George wearing? (Pink jacket, light green shirt with ruffle, black something or other sticking out of his shirt, presumably supposed to look like chest hair, corn cob pipe in his mouth, and grey hat on his head. Oh, and sunglasses. I guess he’s going for the pimp look tonight.) Julie has a question for everyone who competed. One by one, yes or no. Were they shocked by the number of prizes that were taken by their housemates during the competition? James: No. Janelle: Yes. Marcellas: Yes. Danielle: Absolutely. Mike: Not a bit. Will: Didn’t shock him at all.
Julie asks Danielle (who looks very pretty) what was going through her mind when she was in solitary confinement and the margarita party was going on outside. Danielle was quite upset and she did what she had to do. She hopes they enjoyed it. Julie says George was off slop for a week courtesy of Marcellas, but tomorrow he is back on it. He says he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. Julie asks if he will be able to make it to the end of the game. George laughs and says, “Who knows?” He salutes her with his pipe, and says sure he can. Thanks houseguests!
They are the bad boys of the Big Brother house. Will and Mike are the dynamic duo who have manipulated and charmed their way out of trouble. Coming up, we’re meet the women who are responsible for ChillTown, Will and Mike’s mothers. Are these sons making their moms proud? Stay tuned…
From lying to taunting, to simply tormenting their housemates, nothing is beneath Will and Mike. Targets from the beginning, they are still here. But long before they lived in the Big Brother house, they lived with their moms, Judy and Bonnie. Was this self-proclaimed evil duo always this mischievous? Cue various clips of Will and Mike’s madness. Pole dancing (Will), whipped cream face (Mike), golfing (Will), and dancing and splashing in the backyard (Mike), among other things.
In Basalt, Colorado, Will’s Mom Judy says even as a little boy, Will was always thinking and plotting and planning. Time to look at various pictures of Will. Will as a grade-schooler. Will in various graduation gowns. Judy says in school Will was always a little shy, but he always had girlfriends. Cue shot of Big Brother 2 and Shannon, then Will talking to Janelle in the HOH bed. Judy says Will talking to Janelle is strategy, she can guarantee it. More Will flirting with Janelle. If anyone, Judy would like Will to try to stay away from Howie. Cue shot of Howie kissing Will, then massaging the back of his neck. Judy wishes Howie would keep his hands off of him. Will’s mom is awesome!
In Gilford, New Hampshire, Bonnie says she and Mike were a special family. It was just the two of them; Mike’s father was not in his life. Time for little boy Mike pictures! Bonnie had Mike when she was 19 so they pretty much grew up together. Mike was a chubby little boy. The pictures indicate that. Then when he got older he joined the speed-skating team (which he tells his housemates in the hot tub) and lost all his weight and became as we see him today. Cue shot of Mike in the bathtub with Janelle and Erika, as Bonnie says, “Mike the flirt.” He comes by that naturally, apparently. She knows Mike and Erika are friends, and she perceives that they have a secret alliance. She thinks it will come out as a surprise later. Mike rubs Erika’s head, then she peers at him over the shower door. Bonnie is awesome too!
Judy thinks Will and Mike are hysterical on the show. Bonnie says it’s a fun relationship but she thinks they have great strategy together. Cue shots of Will and Mike strategizing with the whole house. They enjoy being evil, Bonnie says. Judy predicts that her boy will go all the way, because he’s great. Bonnie is proud to be one of the ChillTown moms.
Tonight the houseguests are once again casting their vote to evict live. Of the 10 remaining houseguests, only seven are eligible to vote. James, Kaysar, and Danielle will not vote. But James has a critical decision to make. In last week’s HOH competition, he won the power to cancel one eviction vote. If James nullifies the wrong vote, he may end up evicting himself from the game. What will James choose to do? Stay tuned… Wait, are we to have no Diary Room Videos that Don’t Actually Say Anything Useful tonight? I don’t know if I can live without my DRVTDASAU!
It’s time to talk to Danielle! But first, can someone tell me why Julie is wearing a turquoise lei around her neck in the live feed commercial? Back to Danielle, who as I mentioned looks very pretty in a white dress with purple flowers. Nobody can hear her, so please bash the hell out of everyone else. In week one, she said she came on too strong and then she backed off. In last week’s HOH game, Erika looked like she could win it but Danielle asked Erika to give it to her, throwing her back in the spotlight. Why? Danielle felt like she had come into the game to play. If she’s going to go out, she’s going to go out swinging. So she knew she could make the decision. Julie says Danielle was very upset by the behavior of her alliance in the veto competition, she declared she was working with idiots. Danielle agrees. Julie asks if there is any ally left in the house who Danielle thinks she can trust, besides herself. Danielle says at this point it’s James. Julie says Danielle put the veto competition ahead of a phone call from home. How did it feel knowing that one of her allies, James, took the call? Danielle says she was hurt because she put herself out there and she was so upset and she apologizes to her family. Thank you, Danielle!
Aha, we do have DRVTDASAU after all! I’m happy now! First up is Marcellas, who could not be more thrilled that there are two people nominated from season six. That said, he trusts James more than he trusts the “other three” because he’s done the least to Marcellas. Will would love to shock the Legion of Doom and the rest of the house and kick James out. Also, James is completely untrustworthy. Will doesn’t trust him and he’s in an alliance with him. Howie says it may be safer for strategic game play to keep Kaysar and get rid of James right now. Erika is close to both James and Kaysar, but because they have such different personalities it’s hard to compare the two relationships. George doesn’t want to see Kaysar go. He wants to see him play the game more. Janelle says if Kaysar left the house it would be really uneasy for her, because he’s her support in the house and if he left their alliance might crumble. Mike says either way, he’s just happy that no one from ChillTown is going home. They’ve survived another week in the Big Brother house, and it’s win-win either way.
Both James and Kaysar have fought hard to stay in the game, but tonight one will lose that fight. It’s time to talk to the nominees! In just a few moments their housemates will cast their vote to evict live, and this is their last chance to speak to them before they vote. But think carefully, because what they say could determine their fate in the game. James says he’d like to thank America for putting him back in “this wonderful experience” and thanks his housemates for making it an awesome time. He asks them to vote for what’s best for them in the house. It’s an individual game, not a team sport, and they should vote for what they think will help them get further in the game. Kaysar also thanks America for putting him back in the house, he’s had a lot of fun and he thanks his housemates also. He has played the game as best as he can, tried to be honest, straightforward, and transparent. He thinks he has earned the respect of some people in the house while others, not so much. So, vote what they feel is best. That’s all he has to say.
Julie says, as the houseguests know, during the last HOH competition James won the power to cancel one of their eviction votes this week. James heads to the diary room to tell us whose vote he will be nullifying. I’m betting on Janelle. If James cancels the wrong vote he could end up being evicted. Julie asks for his decision, and asks if he is going to cancel someone’s vote. James says, “Janelle, vote, gone.” Julie sends him back to the living room. The live votes are up next.
It’s time for the houseguests to vote! The nominees will not vote, and if the votes end in a tie Danielle will break it. Guess Julie just gave away that James used his nullification power. Marcellas has admitted to having a crush on Kaysar, but also recognizes him as a formidable competitor. Marcellas votes to evict Kaysar. Howie must choose between two members of his own alliance. Howie votes to evict James. He also wishes Kaysar happy birthday. Erika is very close to Kaysar but she pledged her allegiance to Danielle. Will she vote with her heart or her head? Erika votes to evict Kaysar. Janelle’s vote has been nullified. Janelle votes to evict James. Will and James are part of the Legion of Doom. Will votes to evict Kaysar, because Mike sent him a signal that he hopes he interpreted correctly. George got an impassioned plea from Kaysar in the hopes that he would vote for Kaysar to stay in the game. Will George take Kaysar up on his offer? George votes to evict Kaysar. Mike appears to be aligned with James but who does he see as the bigger threat? Mike votes to evict Kaysar, though he hates to do it on Kaysar’s birthday.
It’s official, Julie says, and first says James… then catches herself and says Kaysar has been evicted. What is it with Julie and the live shows this season? Because James canceled Janelle’s vote, Kaysar is evicted by a vote of 5-1, thus becoming the first person in the history of reality TV to be evicted from the same show three times. Kaysar and James hug, followed by Kaysar and Erika, and Kaysar and George, and Janelle screams, “What up, Kaaaaaaaaaaaysar?!” Howie wishes him happy birthday as he walks to the shed of judgment. Julie wishes him happy birthday and tells him this is not his gift. He says it’s a great gift. Inside the house, it’s very quiet. They must be hunting wabbits.
Julie asks if it was hard being on the chopping block next to James, his friend and season six ally. Kaysar says it was, especially after the falling out they had last year, he just wanted to fix things and make sure they were on the same team this time around. He didn’t want to campaign against James, he wanted to make sure things were really cool between them. That’s nice and all, but not really the point of Big Brother. It was really difficult. Julie reveals that James is in a secret alliance with Danielle, Will, and Mike, and that they call their alliance the Legion of Doom. Guess that pretty much kills the idea of Kaysar going back into the house at some point. Julie continues that the whole purpose was to get Janelle out of the house. Julie reads Kaysar some of James’s quotes about Janelle, such as his calling her a “stupid bi**h,” and saying, “This Anna Nicole Smith wannabe is probably the dumbest person to ever play the game.” What does Kaysar think of James now? Kaysar says it just goes to show that he’s not cut out for the game. Ya think? He’s tried to play with honesty, and it’s disappointing. He played for the team but the team didn’t play for him.
Time for the good bye videos. Erika cries as she says Kaysar was her best friend in the house. She honestly doesn’t think she would have wanted to be there if he wasn’t there. Janelle says he was completely 100% loyal to their alliance. Hopefully with the help of Howie and James she can take out the “float herd.” Mike says he shoulda got down with ChillTown earlier. Mike tried to tell him something that he’s about to see very shortly, that he couldn’t trust his boy James. Will hates to say it but somehow “I told you so” just doesn’t cut it. Will told him James was going to peel off and he did, with Will. For the time being, Will has James and well, he stabbed Kaysar in the back. (The sappy music is hardly appropriate for these videos.) James could no longer sit back and watch Janelle single-handedly destroy their group. Her selfishness and her stupidity were taking their team to the path of destruction. He gave them four weeks of chances and they stabbed him in the back every chance they got, so he had to take action into his own hands.
Julie says in the end James was a pawn to get Janelle out, and instead Kaysar is there. Way to rub salt into that wound, Julie! She hopes his birthday gets better, and asks for his final thought. Kaysar says he’s not cut out for this game. Wow, it took three evictions for him to realize that! He’s going to go back to his loved ones and try to collect himself and really take in what happened. He was there for James, Janelle, and Howie and he reminded them that they needed to stick together. In the end it was just one stab in the back after another. There were just too many daggers and this time around he couldn’t avoid them.
In the HOH competition, their pasts are back to haunt them. Over the past 24 hours, the ghosts of seasons past have been haunting the Big Brother house. They hold the answers to this week’s HOH competition. Erika sees Alison’s reflection in the mirror. Will tells her she had a hallucination as everyone gathers around. Janelle sees Alison in the bug room mirror. In the bathroom, Mike, Janelle, and Erika see the ghost of Josh. Danielle screams for them all to go to bed. Everyone is thrilled to be in a haunted house. Alison’s ghost walks over to a striped shirt hanging on the wall and removes it. Eric’s ghost removes a giant black chess piece (the knight) from near the bottom of the spiral staircase. Holly’s ghost removes one of the devil ducks from the shelf. Josh’s ghost removes Marcellas’s robe from one of the cots. Bunky’s ghost removes one of the tarantulas. I wonder if it was the one they named after him. A chicken’s ghost removes George’s beaded necklace with the rubber chickens hanging from it.
Danielle welcomes the houseguests to the Big Brother: All-Stars séance, which Kaysar attended. Recently there have been some disturbing sightings and everything in the Big Brother house happens for a reason. Erika covers her face with a pillow. Danielle tells them to pay attention as they all chant, “Spirits of the Big Brother past, reveal yourselves in the looking glass!” Lights flicker as Bunky appears. He says, “So, you’ve named a hairy spider after me,” then shows them a hand with the spider in it. “Don’t worry, you’ll get it back,” he continues, “but you may not find it in the cage. I’m sure Dr. Will can treat spider bites!” Bunky laughs as everyone cheers.
Alison appears next. She says, “Don’t worry Erika and Janelle, I’m not real. Just like your… well, I think we all know.” She holds up the striped shirt as everyone laughs and cheers. Josh is up next and he says, “Dani, I love you! Marcellas, this robe smells like defeat.” Holly is up next and already her voice is grating on me. She says, “Paging Dr. Delicious, paging Dr. Delicious” as she blows a kiss and says, “I took the devil duck. Quack, quack. Because I want to take a bubble bath with it.” Eric is up next. He says, “Hey guys, remember the ghost of Cappy from last year? The black knight that I stole represents the beginning of the end for all of you. Let’s see this year whose fate is sealed. Lights out, bi**hes!” The chicken appears next with the necklace around its neck, and clucks at them. The Big Brother séance is concluded.
Tonight’s HOH competition will kick off a week’s worth of competitions that are filled with blasts from the past. Out in the yard the standard competition booths are set up, with TRUE and FALSE on a board. Danielle will not compete as outgoing HOH. Marcellas is wearing the frizzy black wig. Over the past 24 hours the All-Stars were visited by the ghosts of some former houseguests. They hold the answers to tonight’s HOH competition. Julie will ask a series of true or false questions about the séance they held last night. If they get the question wrong they are eliminated, but if everyone gets the question right, the person who answered the slowest is eliminated. The last person standing will be the new HOH.
Question 1: True or False—the devil duck was stolen by Alison. Everyone answers False. George was the slowest to answer so he is eliminated. The devil duck was stolen by Holly.
Question 2: True or False—Holly paged Dr. Delicious. Everyone answers True, and Marcellas is eliminated for being the slowest to answer.
Question 3: True or False—Bunky was sure that Will could treat snake bites. Everyone but Janelle answers False, so Janelle is eliminated. Bunky was sure that Will could treat spider bites.
Question 4: True or False—the black knight was stolen by Eric. Erika, Mike, James, and Will answer True, but Howie does not indicate an answer. Julie tells him they need an answer, and he also answers True but is eliminated for being the slowest. As he walks away he protests.
Question 5: True or False—Josh said he loved Danielle like he loved bagels. Erika, Mike, and James answer True. Will answers False and is eliminated.
Question 6: True or False—the necklace that the chicken stole belonged to Janelle. Everyone answers False but Mike is eliminated for ringing in last. The necklace belonged to George.
Question 7: True or False—in the séance, Bunky revealed himself before Holly. Both Erika and James answered True but Erika was faster so she is the new HOH!
A new HOH is in charge, but Erika and her housemates have no idea what is in store. Coming up, it’s the Coup d’Etat… the twist that could turn the Big Brother game upside down! Next Thursday, it’s prom night in the Big Brother house, and you’re invited! Go to cbs.com to cast your vote for Class Clown, Most Annoying, Best Looking, and all your favorite prom night titles! Also, get your cell phone ready for America’s Vote! Text the number of the houseguest you want to be crowned prom king or queen to 81818. Text 1 for Marcellas, 2 for Janelle, 3 for Will, 4 for James, 5 for Danielle, 6 for Howie, 7 for Mike, 8 for Erika, and 9 for George. But choose carefully, because the houseguest who wins this title will also be given an advantage in next week’s HOH competition! Your vote could change the outcome of the game. It’s 50 cents per vote, open to all major carriers, and standard text messaging rates apply. (The lawyer in me always has to include the fine print…)
It’s time to tell the houseguests about an extraordinary new power that one of them could win. It’s called the Coup d’Etat, and here’s how it works. In any of the next three eviction episodes, the winner of the Coup d’Etat will have the ability to overthrow the HOH and replace nominations on the spot right before the voting takes place. But the twist is that no one except the winner of the power will know what it is until the power is used. Who will win it? Be sure to tune in Sunday and Tuesday at 8:00 pm to watch the houseguests compete for this unique privilege. And one week from tonight (when yours truly will be sitting on the beach with an umbrella drink), tune in to see who won the Coup d’Etat and to find out if it will be used.
Let’s go tell the houseguests the news! Julie tells them beginning tonight there is a new power up for grabs that could completely change the course of the game. But only the person who wins it will know what it is. And it will remain a secret to everyone until it is used. She does not tell them it’s called the Coup d’Etat. Because then, they’d have a pretty damn good idea what the power is, wouldn’t they? Everyone looks appropriately confused. Here’s how they can win this power. Over the next few days they will be given clues to a well-known phrase that applies to the Big Brother game. Once they think they know what the phrase is, they will disclose their answer in the privacy of the diary room. The first person to answer correctly wins this new power and could make Big Brother history by shaking up the game like never before. But they will have only one chance to give their answer. The winner will find out who they are, and what the special power is, one week from tonight. Their first clue is waiting for them in the house.
Inside the house, a sheep with a pink bow tied around its neck eats off of a plate. Everyone enters and is understandably shocked. Mike says, “Hey we got a pet! We got a lamb or something!” The sheep baaaaaaas and runs away from everyone. Howie pets the sheep and it seems to like him. Am I really recapping this?
So, there is it. Season six finally took a hit, and with one of the “floaters” in control it should be interesting to see things play out. David Bloomberg will bring you further Coup d’Etat developments and nominations on Sunday, and I’ll be back with the Tuesday recap. Stay with us to see if the sheep gets a name, and how long it remains in the house. And don’t miss the live feed recaps!
