Recap 8/9/05
The show started off with James and Sarah talking about their shock at being nominated for eviction. They thought they were absolutely safe this week. They went to the Gold Room to talk and James comforted Sarah. He wanted to go talk to the other houseguests about it but she didn't want him to. He went anyway so she went with him. Howie told them they were put up because of James making a promise to the Friendship that he would be willing to put Howie and Rachel up for eviction to guarantee his own safety. Later, Sarah went out in the yard and found a Mexican party set up outside. She told James about it and they snuck back outside without telling any of the other houseguests about it. There were chips, tacos, and margaritas which Sarah and James helped themselves to. Plus there were pinatas of people lined up outside the house. Jennifer came out, saw them, and read a note by the pinatas that the houseguests were to use craft supplies given to them to decorate a pinata in their likeness. Even though Sarah told her not to, Jen took a pinata inside with her to go tell the other houseguests about the Mexican fiesta. Sarah made her pinata with a sad face and tears, because she was sad when she made it. James made his pinata flipping the bird with a Golden veto around its neck and a halo over its head. Janelle said she made her pinata glamerous, beautiful and sexy like herself. Beau made his with a pull cord that said "Love it". April was fussing that she was not girly and wasn't good at crafts. Howie made his pinata with a shirt that said "Howiewood". He called it mini-Howie. The next thing showed was the veto competition. Howie chose Rachel as his partner, James chose Ivette, and Sarah chose Jennifer. The players were sequestered in different parts of the house and called outside one at a time for the competition. It was a game called A Lotta Pinata. They were given a bowl with ten candies and had to put them in the pinatas of the players competing for the veto. They had to put candy in at least two different pinatas and could put as many as they wanted in each one. After they were all done, each person would break open their own pinata and count the number of candies in them. The player the closest to 20 without going over would win the veto. Here's a breaakdown of how many candies each player distributed. Rachel: Ivette=2, Jen=2, Rachel=3, Howie=3 Sarah: Sarah=1, Howie=9 Howie: James=5, Sarah=5 Jennifer: Jennifer=3, James=4, Sarah=3 Ivette: James=9, Sarah=1 James: Howie=4, Rachel=4, Ivette=1, Jen=1 Total candies for each: Ivette=3 Jen=6 Rachel=7 Howie=16 Sarah=10 James=18 James won the veto After the veto comp, Howie, Rachel and the Friendship met in the HOH room. They couldn't figure out where they went wrong in letting James win the veto. Later on, Ivette and April are talking about who will go up if James uses the veto on himself or Sarah. April volunteers herself but then suggests that Ivette might be a better choice to go up. Ivette doesn't mind going up since the plan is to evict Sarah regardless of who goes up but she's mad at April for volunteering and then trying to back out of it. The houseguests are shown messages from the 3 houseguests in the America's Choice Poll (Michael, Eric and Kaysar), telling America why they should be voted back in. Then the houseguests are given t-shirts and tie dye to make their own campaign shirts for their favorite houseguest. Howie and Rachel made Kaysar shirts, Sarah and Janelle made Michael shirts, and Maggie, Ivette, and Beau made Eric shirts. James made a shirt for Sarah, and we weren't shown April and Jen's shirts. Later, April was talking to Howie, Janelle and some of the others about Ivette. April says Ivette has been close to James since the beginning of the show and has been talking to him. She doesn't trust Ivette and she's been getting on her nerves. Janelle also says she doesn't trust Ivette. Howie says Sarah is no threat to them and they know where she stands in the game. She'll always back James. He's more concerned about loose cannons, people they can't trust. At the veto ceremony, James takes himself off the block and Howie puts Ivette up in his place.

They all second guessed James right to the POV! Their best line of defense should have been to not put any candy in James' pinata. That way he would be taken out of the competition lock, stock and barrel. No candy = not enough to win, not enough to go over. Stoopid, stoopid, people!!

That was a great POV challenge. Without being able to talk to each other, no one knew what strategy to go for: 1) load up Sarah & James to go over 20, or 2) leave the candy out of his so someone else would win. It was great seeing them all come out and try to figure out the best strategy. James is a lucky dog...I've said for a couple of weeks that he is a huge threat for POV. What is this, his 4th win in a row? Danger, Will Robinson; danger!!!
