Priorities
I was wondering about the different way people prioritize things they have to do. Whether it's running errands around town, tackling tasks at home, or even eating a meal we each have own own plan of attack. How do you decide what to do first? Do you choose to do the thing you like least first to get it over with or are you more likely to start with your favorite task and work your way down the list? Do you choose tasks that you can get over quickly first or start with the longer projects? Do you make up a task jar and pick tasks at random? At mealtimes, do you start with your favorite food or start with your least favorite and work up to you most favorite? For tasks, I usually write out everything I have to do and make a note if they have to be done by a particular time or in a particular order (after all, you can't put the clothes in the dryer until you've washed them first!). I try to group similar tasks, like if I'm out running errands, I'll want to hit all the places that are close together at the same time instead of backtracking. Prioritizing tasks depends on my mood. If it's a challenge just to get myself started, I'll start with the short, simple stuff so when it comes time to tackle a long or difficult task I can console myself that at least I'll be done when it's over. If I'm feeling gung-ho that day, I'll take on the hardest or lengthiest project first to get it out of my way and then take care of the shorter, less difficult tasks at my leisure. For meals, I like to start with sides first (french fries, salad, fruit, etc) and work up to the entree. I like to eat my least favorite things first or items that won't taste good once they get cold. I can eat a hamburger or fried chicken when it's lukewarm but once my fries get cold I'm not going to want to eat them.

I am a list-maker. I always have lists. Generally, I have more items on my To Do list than time to do them, so I do the most urgent things first. Other than urgent items that have a deadline, I do what strikes my mood. This is why I generally have a dozen (or more) books that I'm in the middle of and dozens of on-going craft projects. They all get done eventually, but I'm not a person who starts one thing, finishes it, and moves on to the next thing. Hubby is and my randomness and multiple half-done projects drive him crazy. I don't really have a particular way to eat food. Probably hot stuff first, but I like a bite of everything. Hubby is the one who eats one things all gone before moving on to the next item on his plate. Do you see a personality pattern here??

Do you see a personality pattern here?? Yep. He's orderly and controlled. You're spontaneous and free-spirited. They say opposites attract and that seems to be the case with you and your hubby. That probably gets exasperating for each of you at times but it also keeps things interesting.

I seem to be an odd mix of both Brinna and her dh  I make lists if I want to actually accomplish anything. However, I can't ever start a project unless my last project is done. I also eat my meals one thing at a time, always with a glass of milk that is not touched until I've finish eating. And there are many many foods, though not all, that can't so much as be on the same plate as each other, never mind actually touching-ewww. Irks me when I see people mash a ton of food onto one plate, I don't know how anyone can stand that!

Irks me when I see people mash a ton of food onto one plate, I don't know how anyone can stand that! My mom used to do that and it grossed me out. She was one of those that would go to a buffet and put fruit on top of rice and gravy on top of that. She'd always say it all ends up in the same place so what's the difference? Well, the difference is your stomach doesn't have tastebuds but your tongue does! Some foods just don't taste good together.
