Guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction; The Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Brooke Burke ("Wild On") have been named co-hosts of the new CBS talent search "Rock Star: INXS," in which fifteen performers battle it out for a chance to join the band INXS. The one hour series premiere of "Rock Star: INXS" begins Monday, July 11 at 9:00 pm. Another hour-long episode follows Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00 pm, while a special half hour episode airs Wednesday, July 13 at 9:30 pm. Beginning the following week, "Rock Star: INXS" will be seen regularly on Mondays (9:30-10:00 PM), Tuesdays (10:00-11:00 PM) and Wednesdays (9:30-10:00 PM). "Rock Star: INXS," comes from "Survivor" executive producer Mark Burnett. This unique series combines the world of rock music with relationship-style unscripted drama, and a performance competition with weekly contestant eliminations. In the end, the last person standing will become the lead singer of rock band INXS. The Monday episodes will be taped including footage of the previous weekly activities of the remaining contestants. Tuesday will be a performance show, while Wednesday will be the results show, where one contestant will leave the group. The series is produced by Mark Burnett Productions. I was all excited about this show... until I heard Brook Burke was hosting. Ugh. I'd rather have Julie Chen as host. Heck, I think I'd rather have Brian Dunkleman as host.

OK, excited might not be the right word. Interested is a better choice, I suppose. Anyway, how can someone who enjoys American Idol not be looking forward to a rock version of the show? And Mark Burnett is involved, which gives the show some credibility. I just wish it had a better host. And a better title.

Brooke Burke is there to attract viewers who are interested in a little eye candy as well as reality show drama, I'm sure. I guess if it was some other band I might be more interested, but I listened to INXS when I was a young laddie and it just seems whacked out that they are choosing a new singer by a reality show competition. ::: sigh ::: But I'll probably watch anyway... :roll:

Yeah, it would be better if it was a show looking for a rock singer and not for a replacement singer for the band INXS. That just doesn't seem right. I'm sure the band can do that themselves without the help of a reality tv show. Does this mean they are looking for someone who sounds like the former lead singer? I hope not. I hope they are open to just about anything. Even a female vocalist. I'll watch the first week or so. If it sucks, though, I'm not watching it. Especially since it's a three-day-a-week show. :shock:

Interesting; so far it's keeping my interest. The second night was lots better than the first. And I totally agree with booting Will...he's a lamer!

This show rocks! I love it! :grin: And Brooke Burke isn't all that bad as host... she's actually pretty decent at it. What's up with all the hopping around like a jack-in-the-box? It's what rockers do. Not all rockers can sing on tune most of the time... but the real good ones sure know how to entertain a crowd.
