Wednesday is the day new challenges start. If you go to Badge Central you can find out what the upcoming challenges will be. Sometimes they change their minds, though, so they'll say Tri-Peaks Solitaire will be one of the upcoming challenges but then end up having a challenge for Spades instead so be aware that the information is subject to change!

La Belle- 04-25-2005

On what day do Weekly challenges end and new ones begin? the begin on wednesday, I believe.

La Belle- 04-25-2005

it better be tripeaks this week!

pika- 04-25-2005

Yeah, I hope I didn't jinx it by saying they could replace Tri Peaks with Spades. The funny thing is I didn't even know Tri Peaks was one of the upcoming challenges when I wrote that!

La Belle- 04-25-2005

I just moved up ranks in tripeaks, w00t!

Princess Poopypants- 04-25-2005

I got the Jungle Gin Paranha Badge and the Word Whomp Word Farm Badge (My Personal Challenge for the week). I have 71 of 200 foundations cleared for the Itsy Bitsy Spider Rainy Day Spider Solitiare badge. I've got some work to do tonight and tomorrow night. I don't know if I will be able to complete it in time.

Princess Poopypants- 04-26-2005

I played Rainy Day Spider Solitaire last night for an hour and cleared 70 foundations. I only have 59 to go. I should be able to do that in about an hour tonight. Once you get used to the game, it gets much easier to go real quick. I have a "numbers" mind with all the accounting that I do, so I think that helps. I got to where I can do a game in about 5-7 minutes. I am a little concerned though because it says that I am at 93% towards a new rank. What does that mean? Will it get harder after I finish my next game? Also, what is your favorite game and why? How good are you at it? Is it a game that you play individually or with other people?

I don't think the games get any harder as you move up in ranks. You can earn game badges in addition to wining badges from personal challenges. In Rainy Day Spider Solitaire, I believe you get a new game badge for every ten ranks. I've loved Spider Solitaire every since I started playing it years ago. My uncle gave me a copy of a Bicycle Card Games for the computer and spider quickly became my favorite. I wasn't able to win the game for a whole month but once I got it, I won every time. I play Spider Solitaire at Pogo on the difficult level and try not to use any of my free spaces so I'll get extra points. Sometimes I lose, though, because you can only undo up to the previous deal or the last deck cleared from the board and I can't always get out of the mess I got into, even with the free spaces. When I first started playing solitaire games, I started having dreams with numbers in them and sometimes I would even be clearing stacks of cards in my mind. I don't really have a clear favorite Pogo game anymore. Rainy Day was my favorite when I first joined but now it's one of many games I love. I always play individually. For games like checkers, I'd rather beat a computer than know my winning meant another player had to lose.

I play Spider Solitaire at Pogo on the difficult level and try not to use any of my free spaces so I'll get extra points. I play on an easy level since I am new, and my main objective is to get the badge. I also try not to use any of the free spaces because it is more challenging. I noticed that you only get 5 tokens for each free space not used -- doesn't seem like much of a bonus to me. Do you get more tokens if you are on a more difficult level?

pika- 04-26-2005

Yes, you get more tokens for free spaces and more points for winning the game at the harder levels.

w00t!!! Got my 3 badges this week in only 3 days!! I'm looking forward to the start of tomorrow's badges. Will the Tri-peaks solitaire and Panda Pai Gow Poker challenges be difficult? I don't know what to pick as my personal challenge, and don't want to get something too difficult if the others are going to be difficult as well! I'm gonna go check out some games and see which I want to do! woot! This is fun!!

pika- 04-26-2005

The challenge for Panda Poker shouldn't be too bad. You don't have to win the hand to advance up the steps, you just have to guess whether your hand is going to win, lose, or push. You can always pick the worst hands possible and say you're going to lose each time. Tri-Peaks will probably take a long time to finish so you might want to get started on that challenge right away. The Poppit challenge is only this weekend, not all week like most challenges, so keep that in mind.

Princess Poopypants- 04-26-2005

Do you like to play poppit? I played several rounds a couple of nights ago (before I had the membership), and it seems like it would be pretty difficult to pop every single balloon. I am going to check out squelchies right now. I think that I may do the "Soc Fu" Pop Fu challenge as my personal challenge this week if you say that the other challenge may be difficult.

pika- 04-26-2005

I just realized I was thinking of Pop Fu when I saw Poppit. I've only gotten the bonus for having under ten balloons or whatever it is in Poppit once. I don't remember if I got all the balloons that time or not, I might have had one or two left. That's going to be a tough challenge. If it was Pop Fu, I could for sure get all the balloons in one game at least once.
