Paula Abdul
This was from Paula`s journal... I thought it was interesting to hear why she`s so nice all the time. 9th February 2004 9:15pm: *gasps* an UPDATE! All right, so you haven't seen me here for a while. *shrugs* I've been busy, so busy that I almost forgot (God forbid it) that I had a blurty journal. So anyway, good God, I already hate AI Season 3. Some of these people are absolutely dreadful (yeah, I suppose I agree with Simon sometimes) no matter what compliments I dole out to them. Remember that one girl who sang Route 66? I thought I was going to die of terminal brain cancer after being subjected to that. But honestly, Randy and Simon were so cruel to her, so I figured I needed to say something to uplift her pathetic spirits. "Lovely colors, dear!" Oh yeah. Right. As in, gag-inducing blue. But whatever. Au revoir, my friends, and keep watching American Idol. No matter how much the new con-*test*-('")ants suck and can't remember their lines. *rolls eyes* Arrivederci.

22nd April 2003 10:35pm: six down, five to go Kimberley can sing. I mean, that girl can sing. So can Trenyce. I picked her as a Wild Card and I knew she'd do well. See, Randy picked the rocker who's a big performer but doesn't have much of a range, and Simon picked the sweet little high schooler who can't sing, period...and I picked the professional-sounding grand robber. I keep lying to Carmen every week. I feel so bad for her, though. She's so cute and sweet, but she just doesn't have the voice. It's actually quite sad, if you think about it. I wonder why America keeps her in. Ruben. Nice as usual. 205. Teddy bear. What else can I say? Clay. Broadway musical star. For once, I think Simon is right, Clay has a beautiful voice...but it's more fitting to something like the Phantom of the Opera. Nice guy, though. I see the way he and Ryan Seacrest look at each other, too. Maybe that's another reason why they're keeping him on. And Josh...I hate to say this, but I wasn't at all fond of his performance tonight. Sadly. He's a Marine, but he is no American Idol.

Support for Paula Simon, Randy, producer and Clay Aiken Simon Cowell, the show's more critical judge, defended Abdul on the syndicated entertainment show "Extra" Tuesday. "Paula, to be fair to her, will spend more time backstage with the con-*test*-('")ants giving encouragement. But that's not a bad thing," Cowell said. "I think (the accusations) are rubbish. I think this is a guy who's out there to publish a book." The third judge, Randy Jackson, and host Ryan Seacrest also appeared on programs Tuesday to defend Abdul and "American Idol." American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has spoken out about the alleged affair between judge Paula Abdul and former con-*test*-('")ant Corey Clark. "When it comes down to it, the kids make their own choices," Lythgoe said on American Idol host Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show on KIIS-FM, Los Angeles. "And I know for a fact that a lot of the con-*test*-('")ants have got Paula's phone number and contact her and she contacts them." Lythgoe went on to liken Abdul to the show's "den mother" and said that he has no problem with the con-*test*-('")ants talking to her behind the scenes. Clark, who claims that he and the judge engaged in sexual relations, spoke about his claim on a special edition of ABC's Primetime Live on Wednesday. Lythgoe said that he is currently investigating Clark's claims, however he said he was unimpressed with the evidence presented on the Primetime broadcast. An official statement provided by the FOX network and various production companies responsible for the American Idol franchise was released Thursday. The statement said that the network has contacted Clark and asked him to detail his claims to them. It went on to say that Clark has not contacted them as of yet. "It's a shocker that I think a lot of us have been hearing about for the past week, preparing ourselves for," Aiken said in an interview on "The Early Show" Thursday morning. "Last night kind of threw a lot of curveballs our way." Aiken, Clark and other con-*test*-('")ants lived together in the Idol House during the 2003 season. He said that they could not leave the house without checking in and out. Aiken called Abdul a "nurturing and caring person" who gave con-*test*-('")ants support and advice. "She was like that for everybody on the show," he said. Aiken also suggested that much of the evidence for the supposed affair was either circumstantial or came from Clark's family and close friends.

Huh? In reference to the first 2 post of the journal entries. I dont get it. Help me out here, you said it would show why Paula is so nice, yet those 2 entries are snotty and mean. Are they Paula or someone pretending to be her? Granted I dont know her or much about her really but they really dont sound like something she would say...or write.

Yes, these are her personal diary entries. From last year. She admits having opinions that mirror Simon`s, and explains why she is so nice always. To buffer his remarks. And I knew she couldn`t really be that nice all the time. It`s impossible, so in a way reading her journal was refreshing!! (yeah, I suppose I agree with Simon sometimes) no matter what compliments I dole out to them.

Abdul Pokes Fun At Scandal On 'SNL' POSTED: 6:26 am CDT May 8, 2005 UPDATED: 11:58 am CDT May 8, 2005 NEW YORK -- Despite the controversy surrounding her, Paula Abdul is showing she can have a sense of humor about it. The "American Idol" judge being investigated for an alleged affair with a former con-*test*-('")ant made a cameo appearance introducing the opening sketch on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." Corey Clark, a former con-*test*-('")ant of the Fox show, claimed this week that Abdul had an affair with him while he was competing in 2003 and coached him on how to do better in the competition. Abdul has publicly denounced the allegations, calling them "lies." ABC's "Primetime Live" aired an expose of the scandal, which the SNL cast lampooned Saturday night. The sketch made comical allusions to the controversy with a mock interview and stage performances. But at the end of the sequence, Abdul returned to the set making her own "Idol"-style critiques of her imitator.

I really don't think she wrote those journal entries, they don't sound like her at all! I think she really is a nice person, I can't imagine her saying such mean and snotty things. And why would she want to make herself look two-faced and uncredible anyway? Why put on the nicey nicey act if she's going to be a bitch on an internet website (which I am assuming this is from, Jilli do you have a link where the journal came from?? I don't know, I'm not buying it.

he, he.....  Facts & Figures: Everything You Need to Know About the Versatile Vixen • She stands only five-foot-two. • As a child, she spent Sundays in front of the television watching classic movie musicals from the 1940s and 1950s. • Her parents divorced when she was seven years old. • She earned a full scholarship to a dance academy run by legendary dancer and choreographer Bella Lewitzky. • In high school she was a flautist in the orchestra, a cheerleader and a member of both the debate and science teams. • Binging and purging to stay thin in high school, she developed bulimia. • After a week at California State University Northridge, she auditioned to become a member of the Laker Girls, the cheerleading squad for L.A.'s basketball team. She got the job and helped the squad incorporate dancing and gymnastics into its programs. Six months later, she was named the team's full-time choreographer and dropped out of college. • Her success with the Laker Girls led to choreographing television commercials. • One night at a Lakers' game, she caught the attention of Marlon and Jackie Jackson. She was soon tapped to choreograph the Jacksons' Victory tour and then helped Janet Jackson define the dance style that would launch her solo career. • She went on to work with George Michael, ZZ Top and the Pointer Sisters, and by the fall of 1987, she was in such demand as a choreographer that she left the Laker Girls. • The title song and "The Way That You Love Me" on her first album, Forever Your Girl, initially flopped as singles. But when a few radio stations started playing the song "Straight Up," the album took off. Other hits from that album include "Cold Hearted" and "Opposites Attract." • Forever Your Girl eventually was certified platinum seven times over. The single "Straight Up" went platinum, while "Cold Hearted" and "Opposites Attract" went gold. • The music video for "Opposites Attract" caught the attention of Gene Kelly, one of her idols. She danced in the video with an animated cat, which was reminiscent of his 1945 film Anchors Aweigh, in which he danced with Jerry, the animated mouse. Eventually she used similar special-effects techniques to dance with him in a Diet Coke commercial. • At the height of her popularity, she joined Overeaters Anonymous to help her battle her poor self-image and ongoing struggle with bulimia. • Her second album, Spellbound, went triple platinum. Although many songs rose high on the charts, only one single, "Rush Rush," sold gold. • Three days before a massive concert tour to promote Spellbound, Paula caught a heel during rehearsal and twisted her knee badly. The tour was about to be canceled, when she relied on the healing powers of an acupuncturist. Minutes after her treatment, she was back on her feet, and the tour went on as planned. • She married and separated from actor Emilio Estevez within a year's time. The parting sparked a new and intense bout of bulimia. • Her second marriage, to Brad Beckerman, also lasted about a year. • She has worked as a choreographer on such hit films as American Beauty, Black Knight, Jerry Maguire, The Doors, Coming to America, Big and The Running Man. • Her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame can be found at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard.

taped and edited?... But a source close to Abdul has told "CJ" that "Clark illegally taped" the conversation with Paula and "edited it out of context to make Paula look bad." Our source says that Corey allegedly told Abdul on the phone, "'American Idol' f****ed me" and that "I have nothing to lose." Our source also tells us that a producer from an entertainment show overheard this conversation and that at one point a clicking sound could be heard. Paula then asked Corey, "Are you taping me?" Revelations about "American Idol" from ABC's exposé are expected to include other former con-*test*-('")ants who feel they didn't get equal treatment from Abdul, who allegedly told Clark how to dress and what to sing. According to ABC, Abdul bought clothes for Clark and even went with Clark to visit friends. Clark's parents told ABC they knew about the relationship and did not approve of it. Abdul allegedly gave Clark prescription cough medicine in her name, when Clark had a sore throat. In the meantime, former "Idolers" are making the media circuit, offering their opinions. Hadas Shalev told the television show, "Extra" that Paula flirted with all the boys and all the boys flirted with her. Carmen Rasmussen said she saw Corey Clark behave inappropriately with other con-*test*-('")ants.

Pepette- 05-09-2005

But a source close to Abdul has told "CJ" that "Clark illegally taped" the conversation with Paula and "edited it out of context to make Paula look bad." Close to Abdul? Of course her friends are going to make excuses. Why hasnt this close person gone public? They went to CJ and not the mainstream press who are covering it. That should be taken into consideration. Our source also tells us that a producer from an entertainment show overheard this conversation Why hasnt this person come forward? Im skeptical about "sources" that dont want to go public. At least Clark and his witness of sorts, his mother who says she spoke to Paula came forward with her info. And before anyone asks, no I dont think his mother would lie for him in this matter. In the meantime, former "Idolers" are making the media circuit, offering their opinions. Hadas Shalev told the television show, "Extra" that Paula flirted with all the boys... The producers are saying that Paula gave her home phone number to all the con-*test*-('")ants and offered help..but I dont believe that. First of all, no celebrity, no matter how nice is going to give out their home number. Second, I havent read the rule book but I cant see as it would be allowed for a judge to offer help outside of their critiques during the show. With all these former con-*test*-('")ants talking about how they dont believe Clark and support Paula, I find it hard to believe they arent coming forward to say, yeah Paula gave her number to me too and gave me advice. No one else is saying that. Why? I'm sorry Jilli, I know you support her but for me, theres just too much evidence saying otherwise. The phone records..they cant be faked and were obtained by ABC, not provided by Clark. Calls lasting over 100 minutes? If not Paula, who would they be talking to? A friend of Paulas? Her household help? Dont you think they would have been the first to say they were the ones he was talking to? What about the guy from the Cell phone place where they activated the phone? He said he remembers them coming in to do it. Where did he get the perscription syrup in her name? I honestly dont think his mother would lie for him and she said she spoke to Paula too when she called the Clark home. Im not saying he was right to go public, quite the opposite, he is sleazy for using her to try and further himself but the fact is he did go public and now she has to deal with it. Only Clark, Paula and God know the whole truth...so IF it's true, I dont think its fair to call him a sleaze and make her the victim. It was help that was given freely and accepted freely so there was no victim. One other thing that bothers me is why does she not deny it? She keeps saying she wont dignify it with a response? Why? So that when the truth comes out she can say she never denied it? I'd much rather hear her say its all lies than dance around things with the old "I wont dignify it with a response" dodge. The above is, as always, JMHO

I honestly dont think his mother would lie for him and she said she spoke to Paula too when she called the Clark home. The evidence Corey has is his friends and family. After reading about his family, I wouldn`t be the least bit surprised if they lied. but even if the phone records were legit. SO WHAT!! I mean she`s allowed to talk to con-*test*-('")ents. She did it all the time. But him sneaking out of a locked idol house with security I don`t believe. He could very well have been in her house. it doesn`t mean she was sleeping with him too. On this one, I would just hope that Paula has better taste, but again. SO WHAT if she did? And he couldn`t prove by a long shot that she was coaching him. So what he called her alot? All of this I say a big SO WHAT, and between the two I`ll believe Paula till the truth comes out. Because from what I hear from Corey. He`s only a big fat lier! When Paula admits it, or CBS finds her at fault. She hasn`t done anything wrong. She says she didn`t do it, and Corey is a lier already. And I agree with your points about the sources. I have a hard time believing in them also.

bookie- 05-09-2005

From someone who hasn't followed AI or much of this story...... Was he over 21 at the time all this happened? Obviously Paula was..... If his family knew about it (I thought I saw an interview where his mother said they knew about it)...if it was so bad then why didn't they object??? or was it ok then since they thought they'd get something out of it...and now that they see it didn't work, they're all going to try for a little more media attention. The guy is a sleazeball for going public with no other intention that to get in the media spotlight for the release of his cd...which must be pretty bad if he's going to resort to this..

Pepette- 05-09-2005

Im not talking about the allegations that they had sex, there is no proof of that, at least not that I know of. What Im referring to is his getting extra help from her, which I believe did happen. Im sorry but if it turns out to be true, then yeah I think it was wrong of her. So in answer to SO WHAT....Id have to say there is something wrong with her working with him to get him to the final 12, esecially when she is one third of the vote to put him there. Not to mention how unfair it is to the others that didnt make that final 12 cut. So what if he called her? Why did she give just him her number? And if she did give it to all of them, which as I said before I dont believe, why isnt anyone else coming forward to say so if that could help her? My problem with all this is how people right away vilify Corey Clark and make Paula the victim of some sleazeball. Paula is no victim if any of his allegations are true, and shouldnt be protrayed as one just because she is a nice person. I look at it this way, no matter what his age, isnt this like a Miss America con-*test*-('")ant getting special coaching from one of the judges? Is that alright too? Or when a wannabe actor sleeps with a director to get a part...dont we call that director a sleazebag? Its kinda the same type of thing isnt it? If we would hear Simon gave Carrie his home phone number and coached her to get her into the final 12, who do you think is going to be labeled the sleazey one there? Im pretty sure it wont be Carrie.

slim smurfy- 05-09-2005

I agree that if Paula is so innocent than she should come right out and defend herself. Her behavior this season regarding Constatine is what makes it more believable for me to think that she possibly did have some sort of relationship with him. And I think that Pepette's agruement that if there were these types of rumors about Simon and Carrie that everyone would be calling Simon a sleazebag. She's relying on her "sweet" image to carry her through. And the question that has been asked and begs to be answered is why haven't any other con-*test*-('")ants that she supposedly gave her phone number to come forward to defend her??? She fudged the lines by giving her phone number out regardless of the situation. She is in a position to influence people and should therefore conduct herself in a more professional manner in my opinion. Speaking of not dignifying the rumors with an answers brought to mind two famous sayings. 1- If the glove doesn't fit, you must aquit. 2 - I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Yes they are over the top points, but they did come to mind reading this thread. Sorry Jilli, I can't be in your camp on this one.
