October 11: Fooled Around and Fell… Out of the Competition Dancing with the Stars 3, October 11: Fooled Around and Fell… Out of the Competition
by Jill Jones -- 10/12/2006
Tuesday night on Dancing with the Stars, our couples performed either the samba or rumba. Everyone did fairly well, including Willa and Maksim, who tied for first with the judges. So whose time on the show has come to an end? The only thing standing between us and finding out is 59 minutes… and some filler.
Tom and Samantha start off the program by welcoming us to the show. They also recap the performances from last night, but if you missed them, read our recap instead; it’s more interesting and contains no MSG.
During the post-show interviews, Louis makes a Kama Sutra joke and Mario discusses throbbing. Please, ask your children to leave the room now.
As other clips are shown, I consider how gracious Joey is. Even when the judges are berating him, he is polite and respectful. Nobody has been rude this season, but Joey does stand out as being a true gentleman.
Next, Tom reviews the current standings after the judges’ vote:
RANKING STAR SCORE
1 Emmitt 27
1 Mario 27
1 Monique 27
1 Willa 27
5 Joey 25
6 Jerry 24
6 Sara 24
Len now tells us that he, Bruno, and Carrie Ann have selected Kym and Jerry to give tonight’s encore performance. They will once again do the samba to “Eso Beso.” Jerry shakes and shimmies his way through the routine. I think it is even more entertaining the second time around. The couple receives a standing ovation for their efforts.
Rod Stewart is now set to perform “Hot Legs,” while Edyta and Kym dance. I’m just glad that Jerry isn’t out there showing us his spray-on tan on his hot legs. As you can imagine, the routine is sultry and shows off, well, Edyta’s and Kym’s hot legs, plus Rod’s trademark voice.
Joey, Mario, and Jerry are backstage with Samantha. Joey says that he feels vulnerable each week. Mario tells Samantha that he wants to learn from the judges’ critiques. Jerry can’t believe that he might eventually have to learn two dances each week.
The audience now weighs in with their thoughts. Basically, everyone got a kick out of Jerry, and thought that Monique and Willa were sexy. There are also several celebrities in the audience including Tia Carrera from season two and John Salley; to this day, he remains one beautiful man.
It’s now time to find out two couples who are advancing. Karina and Mario are safe; I don’t think that surprises anyone. Monique and Louis are also returning next week! The two are obviously shocked and pleased. I have no one to celebrate this moment with; Yoko is in bed already and not watching the show with me.
Tom tells us that next week, the stars will be doing a group disco dance. They are also allowed to do lifts during their performances. To get us ready, a group of professional dancers entertain us with a disco routine. It’s a fun performance with a lot of typical disco moves and others that only pros should attempt.
Samantha is accosting Karina and Mario, and Monique and Louis. Karina explains that her mom had a dream and in it, she and Mario were eliminated tonight. Monique says that she and Louis did well this week because they simply had fun.
Tysonia and Christian check in with the Slim·Fast Dance Challenge. It appears that Tysonia is having trouble with the quickstep. She is an extremely busy woman and the pressure of life is affecting her practices. She performs her routine in front of her choir members and receives a lot of support from them. I wonder if we will get to see her perform live with Christian during the finale? Since we have only seen short clips of her routines so far, I hope we see more of her then.
Rod is back with another song. He’s now performing “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” I only have one thing to say: more dancing and less singing. The clips of our couples playing in background don’t count. OK, so I had two things to say!
The professional dancers explain to us how challenging it is to work with the celebrities. Kym says that she teaches through positive reinforcement, while Maksim gets playful during practice and pretends to bite Willa’s finger. Edyta states that dancing is more than just a physical activity. You get the picture.
Tom and Samantha are ready to reveal who else is safe this week. Sara and Tony are moving on, and Kym and Jerry are in the bottom two. Based on what my readers have said, Sara and Tony should be standing under the red light, not Kym and Jerry. Sara’s fans have spoken, though.
The celebrities now explain to us that the day of the show is stressful for them. I know what they mean; I have to check my e-mail, log on to my computer, and get a snack before the program starts. It can be hectic, but I do it all for you, friends!
I referred to Joey’s child as a little boy last week. Actually, he has a daughter. I apologize to him and his family for the error. I was once mistakenly called a boy when I was little and I’m still traumatized by the incident over 20 years later. Refried beans and cream cheese help to ease the pain.
Back to the results… Cheryl and Emmitt are safe; he looks so pleased and relieved. Willa and Maksim are in the bottom two, so that means that Edyta and Joey are still in the competition. Bravo!
After the commercial break, Tom and Samantha tell us who has been eliminated. The couple with the lowest score is… Willa and Maksim. Holy cow! Audience members are booing and expressing their disappointment, but Willa tells everyone not to be upset. She states that the experience has been a blessing. Maksim says that Willa may have become his favorite student. Enough already. These two crazy kids should just continue whatever it is they have going on and be done with it.
I can’t say I’m completely disappointed in the outcome. I was never as entertained and captivated by Willa as some other people were, but over the weeks, she certainly worked hard and earned her votes.

Sara should have gotten the boot!! She is nothing but a BORE!!! I enjoyed watching Willa much more. It's also time Jerry got the boot. His antics will only take him so far.
