November 8: The Finals Are Set!
Dancing with the Stars 3, November 8: The Finals Are Set! by Jill Jones -- 11/09/2006 Last night on Dancing with the Stars, each of the three remaining couples performed a ballroom and Latin dance. The judges loved all of the performances and as a result, the goobers flew like mad. Currently, our celebrities are tied for first place. Unfortunately, one of these fine gentlemen and his professional partner must be eliminated tonight. Let’s find out who that is and who is moving on to the finals. Tom and Samantha welcome us and review the semi-final performances. Instead of listening to their recap, you can read mine; it’s now meatier and 99% filler free. As I already mentioned, there is a three-way tie for first place: RANKING STAR SCORE 1 Mario 59 1 Joey 59 1 Emmitt 59 Len tells us that he, Carrie Ann, and Bruno selected Karina and Mario’s tango for the encore performance. Whatever Len wants, Len gets. Get it? Ha! The performance is again sharp and enjoyable. Mario looks especially serious tonight. Some of the pros are back to dance for us. Jonathan Roberts from seasons one and two, and his wife and dance partner Anna Trebunskaya from season two perform as well. The couples dance to the James Bond theme song. The routine is mysterious and fun. I love watching these professionals dance! Samantha interviews Joey, Emmitt, and Mario backstage. She asks the typical questions. To sum it up, the men are supporting one another and a good time was had by all. The audience members tell us what they think of the celebrities. One lady says that Emmitt’s smile caused her to lose her panties. Might I suggest double-sided tape? A man with no hair wants to see Joey and Emmitt in the finals for obvious reasons. Another fan says that whoever is eliminated tonight can go home with her. People, this is a family show. Settle down. Scenes from the rehearsals for the Dancing with the Stars tour are shown. Joey McIntyre reminds us that he was on season one and that it took place a while ago. Lisa Rinna, who is reuniting with MY Louis van Amstel, her partner from season two, says that she wants the jive that they are performing to knock the audience’s socks off. So far tonight, we’ve heard about people losing their panties and socks. At this rate, we might be naked before we learn who is going to the finals. Lisa, Louis, Joey, Kym Johnson, Harry Hamlin, Ashley DelGrosso, Willa Ford, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy perform in preparation for the tour. The routine is energetic. Lisa even does a split. Holy cheese, it’s impressive. Tysonia and Christian are in the audience tonight. Shots of her practice for the Slim—Fast Dance Challenge are shown. Tony Dovolani visits with her and helps out as she faces her first competition. She is extremely nervous about it, but performs a sexy rumba with Christian. He’s very proud of her and with good reason; she and Christian win second place! She says that she is going to keep dancing. I hope we get to see her perform live. The Pet Shop boys are singing “West End Girls” for us. This song takes me back to my high school days. (Yeah, I’m that old.) It is still as fun as it used to be, but the funky dancing that accompanies it frightens me. Different members of the press tell us about the show. Hey, we’ve been watching it, so they don’t really give us any information that we don’t already know. The dancers now talk about… the dancers. At least they aren’t discussing undergarments. Edyta calls Emmitt “cool.” She then says that nobody puts his or her heart into the competition like Joey does. Emmitt says that Mario has the skills necessary to win the competition. Finally, Tom and Samantha are ready to reveal who will be competing in the finals. I’m nervous. All of these couples deserve a shot at the disco ball trophy and I’m dreading this elimination. The first couple advancing is Karina and Mario. The couple with the lowest total score is… Edyta and Joey. Emmitt and Cheryl have made it to the finals. The couples hug and Emmitt tells Joey that he loves him. That is sweet and sad at the same time. (These emotions remind me of when Lisa and Louis were eliminated last season.) Joey is such an appreciative person; he even thanks us for our time. Clips from his time on the program are shown. I don’t think anyone has had as much fun as he has. At the start of the competition, I assumed that he was going to be a pompous jerk. I don’t know why; I just had that feeling. I couldn’t have been more wrong though. He seems like such a genuine, caring guy. I’m glad he had this experience and gained so much from it. Our finals have been set. Cheryl and Emmitt are taking on Karina and Mario. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite couple; every vote counts.
