No they didn't

Rob and Amber earned the win? Joyce cut off all her freakin' hair for God's sake! Uchenna and Joyce didn't have tour guides throughout the race either. Yes, Rob and Amber ran a good race but I wonder what kind of race they would have ran if they did it all on their own.
ITA!! Rob and Amber got lost during the final leg! They didn't have a local to lead them where they needed to go. Luck was with Uchenna and Joyce in that their cabbie spoke Spanish and knew exactly where the cigar shop was.
One wonders if Rob and Amber would have even made it to the top three if they ran the entire race sans the "guided tour" help of locals.
Joyce and Uchenna earned the win.

Are you trying to start a riot?
In the end, nothing really matters but that last leg and U/J won it. End of story. R/A earned second place.....you are still a dork. yeild me again why dont you

I don't have a copy of the rules for TAR, but I'm fairly certain that cutting one's hair is not the sole requirement for winning the race. But as far as we know, Uchenna & Joyce didn't have any guides during the race. Well, there was that taxi driver that translated their clue and took them to the cigar shop. That was kinda big. Guess they're no better than Rob & Amber after all. Oops.

One could also wonder where Uchenna & Joyce would have finished without the aid of non-elimination rounds.
Anyway, Joyce & Uchenna technically won the last leg, but--going back to Matt's original post--Rob and Amber ran a better race overall. They won more legs, finished in the top 3 more than anyone else, and kept from being eliminated or even yielded by any of the other 10 teams that targeted them from the very beginning. They never needed a non-elimination leg to stay in the game. It's unfortunate that a great race overall can go unrewarded.
Not that U & J didn't run a good race. They did a lot of good things and rocked at most of the roadblocks. And, of course, the Fast Forward was awesome.
I just think--and the stats bear it out--that R & A ran a better race overall.

The things that helped Rob and Amber finish first in so many legs was Rob's conniving and lying (yes, he did...often), the luck they had in getting people to help them, and Rob's habit of getting locals to act as guides. Rob may not have broken any TAR rules as they are written but he came close and he certainly broke the spirit of the rules.
There have been other teams in past races who have lied to competitors and other people and tried to manipulate things to their advantage but no other team in TAR history was as consistently conniving. Sorry, but I don't give Rob kudos for that. This is TAR, not Survivor. Quite frankly, I think there is more than enough drama without teams playing dirty which, IMO, was Rob's whole mode. Of course Amber was right in there with him but he was generally the mastermind. Yet, he would get really mad whenever the tables got turned and he was the victim of somebody else getting a break. If you're going to play like that, at least suck it up when it happens to you!
Yes, Uchenna and Joyce got saved by a non-elimination round but what would have got them eliminated had nothing to do with their racing ability. Their cab was in the lead in the race to the pit stop but then they got a flat tire. That is sheer bad luck. Even so, they only finished behind Rob and Amber by about ten minutes.

Well, they didn't exactly go unrewarded. They won lots of nifty prizes along the way.

I didn't see Rob and Amber's past racing tactics come out in the finale. They made some mistakes, that weren't typical of their game. The strain of the race may have been getting to them. Those who say the race is rigged because U/J got on the flight, would be the same ones saying R/A are so good at their game and that was great seeing them get on the flight.
Brinna- 05-14-2005

This time, in the finale, the flight was held for Uchenna & Joyce.
When Rob & Amber were the ones getting the break, Rob was all smiles thinking it was very funny to make the other teams mad when they got on the plane. He couldn't wait to "see their faces". He was not at all amuzed when Uchenna & Joyce got on his flight. "This sucks!" He didn't exactly have a happy face.

Re: Rob & Amber Rob and Amber got a free wedding and honeymoon from CBS, so I'm not all that upset about those two not winning the race and getting the million dollars. Uchenna and Joyce needed the prize money more, they are the more needier of the two racers. I'm happy for them that they won.
Still, Rob and Amber were the better team.

Brinna, I agree with everything you wrote. Rob tainted TAR with the way he played the game.
Rob could dish it out but he couldn't take it.

Better = more effective, more consistent, and more successful than any of the other teams, while working well together with a good attitude.
Rob didn't do that much lying, and no more than some other racers both past & present. He stretched the boundaries of the game, but to say he played dirty is a biased stretch. When a football team runs a trick play are they playing dirty? Does the offense huddle up with the defense to let them know what they are about to do? No, and no. Does that make football players a bunch of dirty-playing liars?
Rob & Amber's ability to get people to help them is just good people skills. Some of them didn't even accept the money he offered them!
As for luck, it went both ways for Rob and Amber. They had airline personnel tell them there were no earlier flights when there in fact were. They arrived at a FF only to find Ray and Deana already there. Time after time they had big leads over the other teams evaporate due to "hours of operation". Then there was the unprecedented act of turning a commercial airliner around to pick up a couple of people who weren't even on a standby list. That was rather unfortunate for Rob & Amber, I think. So Uchenna & Joyce having a flat tire isn't all that bad, in my opinion. Lynn & Alex had a flat, too, but they kept going. Brian & Greg flipped their whole freaking jeep! Luck--both good and bad--is part of the game. Rob & Amber have no more a monopoly on good luck than Uchenna & Joyce have one on bad luck. Actually, the luckiest team ever is Meredith & Gretchen, in my opinion!

Hmmmm, which is more beneficial? Locals helping you out? Or an airline going against regulations at the request of the producers and moving the boarding apparatus back to the plane?
Let's face it ..... if they hadn't done that then the only race we would have been watching would have been for 2nd place. Rob and Amber could have got lost looking for that cigar shop five times over and still beaten U & J. Not that I mind U & J winning .... they need the money far more than Amber and Rob, but Amber & Rob played a great game. I'm also at a loss as to why R & A didn't get a local to help them out in the final leg? Things that make me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
