Uh, I'm 48 and still haven't had my first...and I'm not that old!! :razz: :wink:

I'm not saying she's too old to be a first-time mother. It's better to have a child late in life rather than not at all and some people choose to start later but preferably I'd rather have a child sooner, when I'm more active and able to keep up with the baby. Plus, if you're younger and find having a child to be such a wonderful experience, you can have another child. As you get older, your chances of having another baby start dwindling. I'd also worry about the child being more susceptible to things like Down's Syndrome since the mother's eggs are older and not as healthy.

Well, that's what they have all those wonderful tests, like AFP triple and quad screening, amnio and CVS for! :wink:
