Interview with Arti & Vipul
“The Memories and Friendships Will Last Forever” – An Interview with The Amazing Race 10’s Arti & Vipul by Jenn Brasler -- 09/20/2006 Arti & Vipul were, sadly, one of the first teams eliminated from the race. Many people were upset to see them go since they were so likeable. Read on for their take on their main competition, what took them so long, and what fish eyes taste like. RealityNewsOnline: I was sad to see you two eliminated so soon. I enjoyed watching you for the brief amount of time we got to. How do you feel about being the race’s first Indian-American team? Arti & Vipul: We were very excited and proud to be the first team to represent the Indian community. RNO: How did you prepare yourselves for the race? Arti & Vipul: We went to the gym more often and started eating healthy. Also, we went to libraries and bookstores to familiarize ourselves with maps and different cultures. RNO: Was there any team you really connected with? Arti & Vipul: We really connected with the Cho brothers and the cheerleaders. The Cho brothers stopped and helped us at the detour. The cheerleaders were always spirited and fun. RNO: How long did you wind up spending in the cab from the Detour to the Pit Stop? Arti & Vipul: The actual trip was suppose to be about a 90-minute drive, but due to the driver overcharging us, we had to stop at a hotel to change cabs once we translated his reasoning for overcharging us. And that entire ordeal took up an extra hour. RNO: Do you know how far you were behind the other teams? Arti & Vipul: We had an idea that we were last, but we were not sure how far behind. As soon as we approached the wall, team Kentucky had just climbed over. RNO: Was there any team you saw that you thought would be the one to beat? Arti & Vipul: The Cho brothers, because they are very intelligent as well as athletic. And they were very nice enough to help others. RNO: What did you see as your strengths and weaknesses both as a team and as individuals? Arti & Vipul: Our team strengths were strong communication, good teamwork, and being from a different culture. Our team weaknesses were lack of aggressiveness. Vipul: My strength was being very competitive and my weakness was that I lost focus. Arti: My strength was being calm in stressful situations and being friendly. My weakness was not being assertive enough. RNO: What countries do you wish you’d been able to travel to? Arti & Vipul: Australia and New Zealand. RNO: Vipul, I have to ask, what did the fish eyes taste like? Vipul: Like spicy rotten eggs marinated in expired milk. RNO: Your downfall seemed to be bad luck, but is there anything you wish you’d done differently? Arti & Vipul: We should have asked the cab driver what the fare would be before we decided to get in his cab. RNO: Is there anything else you want to say to our readers? Arti & Vipul: This was an experience of a lifetime. Although short-lived, we wouldn’t trade it in for a million bucks. The memories and friendships will last forever. RNO: Thank you! I hope you enjoyed yourselves even though you had to leave so soon.
