Has the show past its prime? Do you think AI has reached its peak? Is it as popular as it used to be? A local radio station did a call in vote last week, asking if people thought it should go another year or just end now. Last I had heard, it was pretty even. Personally I dont know if Im getting bored with it or just annoyed with Paula's drunken-like antics, Randys one note critiques and Simons apparent need to just criticize for the sake of saying something mean. Or disgusted with the voting process that keeps someone like Scott is still in the show. Like a friend from another country ask me recently re: Scott not getting booted yet..."what is wrong with you Americans?"

It'll last a few more seasons as-is. I think. Maybe?

I voted for the last one, the voting system needs to change for sure. New judges would help, too. Get a female in there who isn't afraid to speak her mind.....like Courtney Love!!
NOT!

Re: American Idol I think it has a few more seasons left. Personally, though, I'm not as into this season as I have been in the past. I do think this year's talent is better than past seasons. But there needs to be some changes made to keep the series fresh.

I'm glad that they go the year before doing another season. If it was like the amazing race, where one season started a month after the other ended, I think we would have problems. A couple more seasons I say.

No worry there then....I wouldn't think she has any brain cells left

I don't think I'll ever get tired of the competition, but the judges need to change.

Look at how many seasons of The Bachelor we've had and they are getting worse each time! I think AI is safe for a few more rounds.

Re: American Idol I think the changes AI made this season were a step in the right direction. I like not having any celebrity judges, which I didn't think I would at first. And I really liked having 12 guys and 12 gals compete for the final 12 spots, that was pretty cool.

Brinna, back off on the Bachelor!!! This round is funnier than any one before!!
And as for American Idol, I would love to see them dump all the judges and replace them. Keep Ryan, he's fine, but ALL those judges need to go. And if they could make it so people could only vote from a phone line once, that would give a more honest representation of who should go on or be booted.

I like Simon & Randy (most of the time) but Paula contributes nothing except inane happy thoughts.

If everyone had a phone, that would be workable. If a home has only one phone line, however, how would Mom, Dad, junior and sissy each get a vote (assuming each would want to vote)? If they each had cell phones, they could use those, but then there would still be an extra vote on the house line; who gets that vote?
Not that I wouldn't like to see a different voting system implemented; I'm just not sure that "one phone, one vote" would necessarily be any more accurate or fair.

Thats the only problem with the 1 vote/phone idea, so I would be willing to go up to 5 votes per phone. This whole thing of one person voting several hundred times for the same person just isnt right.

How else am I gonna keep Scott in the competition?
pika- 04-19-2005
I wish they wouldn't even have audience voting, or only use it once in the season for audience members to vote two people who had been eliminated back into the competition. How many people voting for their favorites on the show would really buy a cd by that person? Probably not so many. I think most of them are voting for someone they know, someone who goes/went to their school, someone from their city/state, etc, not for the person they think is most talented.
slim smurfy- 04-19-2005
I think the voting is half and half. Half the people are voting for people they like and the other half are voting for the hometown guy/girl. I know of someone who votes for Scott because he is from the same state. When the one guy from Maryland was on, they talked about him on t.v. and radio all the time. I think it's some sort of misguided sense that if that person wins they will somehow make money. And I'm sure some people do/will. I don't think there is a perfect system for making the voting more honest, but it would be nice to see who America really thinks is the best.
