Episode Recap: Week 4 (3/20)
Brent was the only one to give Lenny and Tarek an enthusiastic welcome home to the suite. Charmaine was upset to the point of tears when she learned that Theresa got fired because she didn't bring Charmaine back into the boardroom for her poor choice of comedians. In the morning, the teams assembled at Trump Grille to receive their next task. While standing in front of the buffet, Trump explained that the grille serves a lot of cereal, which is an $8 billion business. It was no surprise that the task involved cereal. Each team had to design a billboard for the new Post Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch. Post executives would judge the winner. Tammy became project manager for Synergy because she had a background in marketing. At the brainstorming session, Tammy asked who had experience presenting to executives and Brent said that he had done many presentations in the past. No one looked thrilled at the prospect of Brent giving their presentation. Nor did anyone want to hear Brent's idea of focusing the ad on the concept of weight loss. Instead, the team decided that their ad would show an older person passing a box of Grape Nuts to "the younger generation." Charmaine stepped up to be project manager for Gold Rush so she could prove herself to Trump. Ideas flew back and forth, but all of them fell flat until Charmaine chose Bryce's concept of showing a young woman "chugging" a box of cereal. Roxanne, Sean, and Allie were tasked to track down professional models for Synergy's ad. Instead, they decided to look for regular people they came across in the city. After talking to a few candidates, they found a young woman and a 44-year-old man to play her father. Meanwhile, Leslie, Lee, and Tarek set out to find a model of their own. They ran into someone "natural looking" and very "girl next door-like" after only 10 seconds of searching the city streets. Brent kept getting in the way of Synergy's design work by standing over the designer's shoulder and throwing out multiple ideas that no one paid any attention to. Other Synergy team members oversaw the photo shoot with their two models. Everyone was excited by the outcome, until Andrea's group emailed the graphic they had put together to go with the photography. Sean felt that it was lackluster and didn't mesh well with their concept. Gold Rush's excitement came crashing down when they saw the results of their photo shoot. None of the team members felt it was coming out particularly well. Even Bryce, who came up with the concept, didn't think it looked right. In the morning, Synergy was ready to leave the suite for their presentation at Post but there was one little problem: Brent wasn't wearing any pants. Andrea scolded him like a petulant child for always being late. He fought back by calling her an "unappreciative you-know-what." Rain came down on judgment day as the teams arrived to hear from the Post executives. Both teams were confident as their banners unfurled for all to see. Trump thought that the banners looked very good, but upon closer scrutiny, he felt that Synergy's banner was slightly off the mark - the model playing the "father figure" looked more like the girl's boyfriend than her dad. Sean stammered his way through Synergy's slide show presentation until Trump mercifully cut him off and passed the floor over to the Post executives. The execs felt that Synergy's banner was too complex for a billboard, but they thought that Gold Rush's was "brilliant." For their reward, Gold Rush got to cook with Jean-Georges, one of the world’s best chefs. Everyone had a great time, but there were plenty of raised eyebrows when Lenny added his own "finishing touch" of cayenne pepper to one of Jean-Georges signature dishes. Roxanne and Allie cuddled up with Sean in his bed to discuss their upcoming boardroom session. In another room, Tammy and Andrea plotted a way to ensure that Brent would be the one to go. For his part, Brent was ready to fight, referring to himself as a "nuclear weapon." A somber Synergy entered the boardroom to meet with George, Ivanka, and The Donald. The session began with both Andrea and Tammy admitting that their banner was too cluttered, though Andrea felt that Tammy was a great project manager. Other team members agreed with this sentiment. Trump pointed out Sean's sloppy presentation, which gave Brent an opening to talk about his own presentation skills and his perception that Tammy told him he was too fat to represent Post Grape Nuts Crunch. He also took the chance to viciously attack Tammy's project management skills. The tables turned when Tammy, Andrea, and Roxanne began lashing out against Brent. Brent tried to defend himself, but he only kept digging himself a bigger hole. Trump pointed out that Brent couldn't get along with anyone on the team and no one wanted him there. "Brent," Trump said, "you’re fired." Source: http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_5/recap/week4_p1.shtml#main
