Episode Recap: Week 2 (3/6)
The 17 remaining candidates met Trump, former Apprentice Bill Rancic, and Ivanka, Trump's daughter, to receive their next task: they were to work with the Gillette Company to promote the "Gillette Fusion razor system" through a text-messaging marketing campaign. Whichever team got the most cell phone customers to text message a key word to Gillette, would win the task. Pepi volunteered to lead Synergy and began by holding a brainstorming session at Gillette headquarters. Brent had some ideas, but Stacy kept cutting him off. To resolve this, a very-animated Brent pulled Stacy into the hall to talk it over, but she wouldn't listen to anything he had to say. Back in the room, Stacy told everyone that Brent just "threatened" her. Lee, Gold Rush's project manager, held a brainstorming session of his own. Without Lee's approval, Lenny left the meeting early and took Charmaine and Leslie with him to start promoting the product in Times Square. With Brent out of the room, a decision was reached to send him home. Pepi gave Brent the news out in the hall. The news didn't go over well, and Brent talked his way back into the meeting. Finally, Michael arrived at the idea of wearing bathrobes in public: when people asked why they were doing this, they would tell them to text message the keyword to receive an explanation. Lenny called the team and demanded that Lee and the others join his group immediately. Lee wanted to rendezvous at the suite to go over their game plan, but Lenny was insistent that they all had to get together in Times Square at that moment. The conversation ended when Lenny hung up on Lee. The next day, Gold Rush was already out the door and on the job before Synergy even woke up. While Synergy was still eating breakfast, Gold Rush was setting up in Times Square. With signs in hand, the team began promoting Gillette to get people to text the keyword. In their bathrobes, Synergy pounded the pavement to get as many keyword messages as possible, but no one seemed to be stopping to ask why they were dressed in robes. Brent decided to try another technique to attract people: he danced around like a robot to get a crowd together. Because of his antics, people started to gather around to see what was going on. The teams arrived in the boardroom to receive the results of their promotions. Ivanka thought that Gold Rush was "smart and impressive" – they received 683 text messages. Bill felt that Synergy's late start and poor location were the reasons they only received 458 messages. For their reward, Gold Rush went to Trump's signature Trump Suit Showroom to work with Career Gear, a nonprofit company that supplies disadvantaged men with clothing to help get them back into the job market. Trump himself arrived to meet the three men that Gold Rush helped out. Things were not as joyous in the suite as members of Synergy got together to discuss the Brent situation. They worried that Brent could "snap" at any moment, though Stacy backtracked by saying that Brent never threatened her. Synergy arrived at the boardroom to face Ivanka, Bill, and The Donald. Pepi immediately threw Brent under the bus, telling Trump that he was the reason they lost. A sweating Brent defended himself vigorously, turning the tables and blaming Pepi for the loss. Bill Rancic thought that the location Stacy selected was their main problem. Trump went around the table, asking everyone whom he or she would fire. Most said Brent, but Roxanne pinned the blame squarely on Pepi's shoulders. When team members continued to hammer on Brent, Bill and Trump jumped in, saying that this was unfair. The issue of Brent "threatening" Stacy was raised, but Trump found the whole matter to be ridiculous. Trump then told Pepi that he could ask three candidates to come back with him. Pepi chose Brent, Stacy, and Michael. The week's loss was so bad, that Trump said he would be firing two people. Once back in the boardroom, Pepi insisted that Brent was a "negative force" that couldn't be contained. Ivanka asked Pepi to explain his management style, but his answer failed to satisfy. Trump finally put an end to all the bickering, telling everyone that his decision was easy. In real estate, Trump explained, location is everything, and Stacy picked the wrong location, "and if you can't handle Brent, you can't handle my business… Stacy, you’re fired." Trump then told Michael that he had potential but did a terrible job. Next, Trump told Brent that he was a "disaster," and probably wouldn't last long, but that he wasn't getting fired. Finally, Trump turned to Pepi, telling him that he did a poor job as the team's leader. "Pepi, you also are fired." Source: http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_5/recap/week2_p1.shtml#main

BTW, did anyone hear what Synergy's keyword was supposed to be? Gold Rush was discussing their keyword "closer" and it's mentioned in the recap but I don't recall Synergy mentioning their keyword.
