Episode 8 (11/1) After a recap of last weeks events, we learn that the con-*test*-('")ants have lost a total of 692 lbs.
How about last year's con-*test*-('")ants? Have they kept the weight off? We catch up with Kelly. When she started the show she weighed 223lbs. To date she has lost 80lbs. and is feeling great.
Dr. Jeff tells Jillian that he loves his teammates but thought that Pete should have been the one to stay. Jillian starts to give Dr. Jeff some words of wisdom, but he stops her. He says he is gonna give it his all, make the best of it, and not give up. Jillian said that's what she was going to tell him. Dr. Jeff the mind reader.
Next we get to see Bob doing flips off a pool diving board. All the con-*test*-('")ants are in the pool. Jillian strolls out in her tiny bikini. The camera pans to Matt. Glad I'm not a mind reader. The look on his face said enough. They soon find out it's not leisure day by the pool. It's a group workout. Seth starts whining that the workout is hard.
A huge cake awaits everyone in the gazebo. 'Dig in for your temption.' Everybody plunges their hands in and they are rewarded with a makeover at a Beverly Hills salon. Was it just me or did that "cake" look awfully runny? Dr. Jeff asks what he should wear to a makeover. Once at the salon Mark is open to change. Andrea likes the length of her hair and thinks she just needs some highlights. Then she tells the hairdresser that she's a hairdresser. (Translation: Do exactly what I say because I can use a pair of shears too.) Matt is very apprehensive. He keeps that tight lip look on his face the whole time. He doesn't want to change his hair and is doing a little whining. He tells the hairdresser that he doesn't want a mullet. ( Mullets aren't allowed in 90210 salons, Matt.) Suzi is nervous. (Hello.. I thought she was a hairdresser too.) Suzi appears to have just had her hair styled. OK guys, where's the makeover here. Shannon had her hair lightened and looked great. After the makeovers, Prevention magazine does a photo shoot of the con-*test*-('")ants. Someone has the chance to make the cover. Dr. Jeff looked really good in his picture. Matt's already complaining again that he would rather be at the ranch working out. Everyone does a really good job with their pictures, except Matt. He keeps that tight lip look. In the final piture of the group they finally get Matt to laugh and smile. (He should do more of that... he could be a real cutie.) All three ladies made the cover and it's a fantastic shot.
Andrea's crying(again) because she's homesick. She feels overwhelmed and empty. Bob is giving her another pep talk. He's afraid that she will eat alot to help cope. They are holding hands with fingers enterlocked. ( Sure she misses home, but one has to wonder if she's being overly emotional to get some touchy time with Bob.)
Reward challenge: The teams arrive to bikes with a surprise. Behind a shade is a family member. Andrea's husband. Shannon's daughter. Suzi's sister. Matt's dad. Mark's wife. Seth's wife. And Dr. Jeff's daughter. (Wait a minute... where's Dr. Jeff's wife? ) Each team member must ride the bike up a hill pulling a cart with their family member. Weight has been added to compensate and make it a fair competition. The winning team wins the Diet Rite Zero elimination pass and an evening with their family member. The "race" is on. Really it's Matt and Seth in a race. They are neck and neck, but Seth pulls ahead and wins reward for himself and teammate Suzi. They now have immunity ( for the second time in a row) and will get to spend the evening with their family members. Matt notices that Shannon is still at the bottom of the hill trying to complete the challenge. He went back and put Shannon and her daughter in his bike cart and peddled them up the hill. He wanted to give them time together and a chance to talk. ( A big guy with a big heart.)
Seth and Suzi make dinner for his wife and her sister. They are suprised that they talk so much about calories. They spend time talking and catching up. The family members get a chance to met the trainers before they have to say their good-byes.
Last chance workout. Mark thinks that he and Andrea are the team to beat. Matt realizes how focused Shannon is during her workouts. Dr. Jeff is a team of one. Seth is feeling good about winning immunity. At the weigh in I notice that Mark is sporting the popular mini-hawk style.
Again the duo with the lowest % of weight loss will be up for elimination. Everyone is fair game except Seth and Suzi.
Suzi 182 lost 2lbs 180
Seth 232 lost 1lb 231
Shannon 212 lost 4lbs 208
Matt 262 lost 8lbs 254
Duo weight: 474 Loss:12 lbs -2.53%
Jeff 294 lost 10lbs 284 -3.40%
Andrea 185 lost 1lb 184
Mark 273 lost 2lbs 271
Duo weight: 458 Loss:3lbs -0.66%
Andrea and Mark are below the yellow line and are up for elimination. Andrea feels like a pawn. As she sobs, she tells everyone not to keep her around just because they know she's easy to beat. ( She's playing a smart game.) Mark is telling everyone that he works hard and wants to stay.
Time for vote off: The duo's will again place one vote.
Dr. Jeff: A few weeks ago it would have been easy, but now he's gotten to know Andrea. She made the comment to him about thinking who needs to be here more. Votes Andrea.
Seth/Suzi: Their new team is strong and they have to get rid of the biggest threat. Vote Mark.
Matt/Shannon: Matt sees Andrea in a new light and with new respect. He and Mark are close friends. He and Shannon had a tough time making their decision. Vote Mark. At this point Matt is blubbering like a baby. Mark is voted out, but he reassures Matt that they will be friends when this is all over. Mark tells us that he's already a winner since he's lost 87lbs.
24hrs. later Mark gets a big welcome home with balloons and confetti. While unpacking Mark finds a letter from Matt. He knows that it wasn't personal.
Update on Mark: Once again WOW!. Mark came to the ranch weighing 358 lbs. To date he has lost an amazing 130 lbs to bring his weight to 228lbs. Mr. Smarty Pants looks pretty darn good. He can get on his bullet proof vest now. He also has space between his body and the steering wheel of his patrol car.
