Episode 4 (10/4) After a recap of last weeks show, the teams found out that eating out doesn't payoff. There was very little weight loss last week and it showed on the scales.
As of week 4 the teams have lost a total of 386lbs.
Seth lets us know the guy's spirits are down after the vote off, but they will try to use that to their advantage.
Our host Caroline Rhea appears to the teams while they are sitting around outside the ranch. She reminds them that they have been in a controlled enviroment. It's time to go to the "ultimate city of temptation" Las Vegas. Suzi tells us on her vacations anything goes. (that's a little too much information Suzi). On their way to the bus I think it was Shannon that says,"this is a great way to get me to run." Ryan mentions she's the music director at her church (she should be alot of fun in Vegas)
They yell and squeal all the way to the bus, on the bus, out of the bus, into the hotel...
Caroline is waiting for them and reminds us once again that they are in Sin City. They will be staying at the Aladdin Hotel which will become the Planet Hollywood Hotel. They will also be having dinner at Planet Hollywood.(everyone say it with me...shameless advertising plug). The team members will be staying on the 50th floor of the hotel which is usually reserved for the "biggest winners," but as Caroline jokes,"now it's for the biggest losers."
At dinner it looks like everyone is eating smart. Protein and veggies. Except it looks like Seth is stuffing a big burger in his face (maybe not, but it sure looked that way). Matt has lied and told the staff that it's his birthday (always good for some free cake). They bring him a piece of cake the size of a quarter which he shares with... no one! After dinner the gambling tables are waiting. Suzanne says she's lady luck. Matt says now he has a new bad habit as he shows us two empty chip trays. Suzanne takes her last $20 to the slots and wins a little over $1600.
The next day arrives with the trainers showing the teams how they can work out in their rooms. Even if the gym is closed, you can't take a vacation from working out.
The teams walk into a high stakes room with money piled on the tables. A lady holding a "big card" deck tells us that the biggest temptation in Vegas is gambling . The deck has cards worth $1 to $5000. They can decide to sit at the table and choose a card and win big or not. However, if they sit at the table they will gamble away their trainer for the week. That means no help from Bob or Jillian before the weigh in. The guys talk it over and decide that they won't hold it against anyone if they do gamble and that Matt will help them work out. Ryan is whinning, "It could be a dollar without Bob." Suzanne says do it or don't. She tells them they don't have to do it as a team.
Who's in: Seth, Mark, Shannon, Suzanne, and Jen decide money over their trainer. Ryan is crying and just can't do that to Bob. She's afraid he will take it personally. Pick a card, any card.
Seth-$1000
Mark-$2500
Shannon-$1000
Suzanne-$2500
Jen-$1000
Now the dealer gives them a chance to double their winnings by playing high/low. Mark, Seth and Jen decide to stay. Shannon and Suzanne will go for it. The dealer draws an 8. Shannon with her $1000 calls higher and gets a Jack and wins another thousand. Suzanne with her $2500 calls lower and gets a 4. She walks away with $5000 for this temptation challenge (five thou will go along way to purchase a trainer at home).
It's time for the trainers to find out about the challenge. Jillian goes crazy asking why they would give up their trainer. If you want money-go home and work (but Jilli this was easy money for these characters). Bob is disappointed. He feels they've lost sight of the goal. In a private meeting with the girls who didn't gamble him away Bob listens to Andrea tell him that their is already division in the team (camera spans to Shannon, Suzanne, and Jen). Andrea is crying to Bob about the team falling to temptation. Ryan is crying and tells Bob that she chose him over her family and money. (oh great, another cry fest)
It's time for another challenge: Pool, scales and flashing lights. Caroline greets the teams poolside. (I had almost forgot how windy it is in Vegas until I say Caroline's hair flying all over the place). She lets them know that each member of the winning team wins a trip back to the hotel in 2006- a prize worth your weight in gold. Plus they choose which losing team member will sit out at the weigh in. Inside the pool are stacks of gold bars on mats with each team members name. The stacks weigh what that person weighs (are we all confused yet). One at a time each member must bring their gold bars to the poolside scale. Jen sits out of the challenge. There's alot of splashing and yelling. It's a pretty close challenge, but the men pull it out and win.
After a commerical break we are already back at the ranch (For a trip to Vegas, it wasn't very sinful or tempting. Nobody even crashed an all you can eat buffet )
Bob is working out his three disiciples Ryan, Suzi, and Andrea while Suzanne, Shannon, and Jen nap like lazy cats (yawn, purr, meow). Matt is working out with Jillian. Then he procedes to work out his trainerless teammates Seth and Mark. The trainerless girls join in on Matt's work out session. Matt comments that he hopes the girls remember that their team didn't help them and he was there to pick'um up.
Suzanne and Ryan are having issues about Ryan's comment that it was nice to have Bob to themselves. Suzanne tells Ryan that if she thinks everybody here is her friend, that's a joke (ok everybody, it's time for the claws to finally come out). Mark calls Ryan a backstabber (but not to her face) . Enter Bob. He tells Shannon that he's trying to get the weight off them, but if she wants drama, she can have it all. Shannon leaves the table. Bob turns his anger on Suzanne and gets closer to her face and actual points his finger at her and says that there's no team in the blue team. He's telling her that he doesn't leave his teammates and he wants to get the team back, but doesn't know if it will happen. He's done. (Looks like ole Bob is upset about being gambled away).
It's time for weigh in. As the guys head off they are very united. Suzanne asked the girls if they should come together and pretend (to be a team) and Suzi tells her to just go. Suzanne responds with a hearty,"Go team." (Oh the claws, the claws, meow, spat spat)
The guys pick Jen's weight to not count (because she trained with Matt).
Jen 244 loses 10lbs 234
The girls weigh a total of 1045 (without Jen)
Ryan 200 loses 5lbs 195
Shannon 236 loses 7lbs 229 (GO Matt)
Suzi 201 loses 5lbs 196
Suzanne 206 loses 7lbs 199
Andrea 202 loses 4lbs 198
Total weight loss for girls is 28lbs. Total % 2.68
(Does anyone else notice that the girls that worked out with Matt lost the most.)
The guys weigh a total of 1583. They will have to lose more than 42lbs to win.
Jeff 340 loses 14lbs 326
Mark 318 loses 10lbs 308
Matt 300 loses 10lbs 290
Seth 258 loses 8lbs 250 (Seth has put them at the 42lbs. lost)
Pete 367 loses 17lbs 350
The guys have lost 59lbs with a total % of 3.73 total weight loss. The guys win it.
Jen has immunity while everyone else is fair game. Oh here we go!!. We see a montage of the girls working out and talking about their families and how they want to make them proud. They all want to stay.
Caroline asks Shannon if things are stressed which she replies that there is tension, drama and they are feeding into the sterotype of women not getting along (ya' think) . Jen tells Caroline that this week they've learned a lesson. The red team is a team (remember the guys are the red team).
Andrea says it's a game and votes Shannon.
Suzi is crying and can't give a reason and votes Shannon.
Ryan votes Shannon.
Jen says her biggest issue is someone making excuses and votes Ryan.
Shannon votes Ryan.
That's three for Shannon and two for Ryan. If there is a tie the guy's decide.
Suzanne says she's works around murders, theives, robbers and some of these ladies could give these guys a run for their money and votes Ryan.
The guys are brought in. They have discussed their decision. They want to take out one of the lighter girls. And someone who always starts conflict... They vote out Ryan. Caroline tells her she looks lovely and beautiful. She should also be happy that she's lost 30lbs. As Ryan leaves Caroline tells the girls that they need to find something in each other that they like or they will end up back at the vote off.
As we catch up with Ryan she looks great. She is shown working out with someone (maybe a personal trainer) and being very active. She is also not using her inhaler anymore. To date she has lost a total of 55lbs.
