Episode 10 (11/15)
After a brief recap that ended in Shannon's elimination last week, we go to the house where Bob is grilling the girls about "what happened" at the elimination. He tells Adrea that he's 'happy to see her but wasn't expecting to see her. She mimics his awe in her ability to stay in the game after facing elimination numerous times. She then starts to tear up at the notion that nobody considers her a threat. Bob informs the girls the "game is ON". He repeats it over and over in case they miss it. This is when it dawns on me why the girls kept losing week after week. The game has been OFF until this point." Now that Bob has flipped the switch to ON, we should see some decent results from the two remaining broads. Over in the big gym, Jillian has the boys on the treadmill. She tells them what she knows about the upcoming challenge... “Endurance. Strength. Balance. Focus. In a bathing suit.” She tells the boys to up their incline and their speed and to let go of the treadmill and just GO! Matt starts muttering about something. Jillian calls him out and he throws one of his temper tantrums and leaves the gym. Jillian informs us that Matt is heading toward his normal self-destruct mode as we get closer to the end of the game. In the courtyard, Bob is leading the girls through a pre-challenge yoga session. Suzi tells us she hates yoga because you're supposed to focus and she can't because she's too busy arguing with the voices in her head. They are in the middle of a normal yoga pose and Suzi's jaw is trembling. I immediately hit mute on my television in case she's going to go into one of her high-pitched speeches again. Thank goodness she doesn't. Both girls end with a backbend. The next morning Matty, the boy's team crybaby, has decided to go for a hike. He tells us he needs to clear his head. Matt is probably scrambling to remember what it was that he had to do to make the 12 pounds he gained last week disappear along with another 10-12 more. When he comes back he asks Jillian to have a heart-to-heart talk with him. He tells her of his fear of going home. He's afraid he'll slip right back into his old habits of alcohol, overeating and being a couch potato. Jillian assures him that he can beat those demons. After the commercial break, we come back to carnival music. The five remaining contestants approach the scene with groans. Like the rest of us they all have a fondness for and weakness of carnival food. They walk by funnel cakes, cotton candy and other delictables and stop in front of a skee ball game. The temptation is they can all take a shot at voting to keep somebody from competing in the next challenge if they get their ball in the right hole. However, the other holes are labled cotton candy, funnel cake, popcorn or hotdog. If the ball goes into one of those holes, they have to eat that particular item. Seth tells us that he would probably aim FOR the funnel cake. Andrea, per the usual, is looking VERY tempted. She tries to rationalize that it would be nice to have one less person in the challenge to worry about. Nobody else is going there though so she walks away with one last look of longing at the delectables. Night falls and our zaftig contestants are summoned to the pool where Caroline awaits them. They walk the plank over the pool and stand next to a huge stainless steel pole. Caroline tells us that there is no immunity this week. Instead, the winner would be whisked away for a night at some new hotel. Oh yeah, the winner also gets to ADD 2 POUNDS to one of the other contestants weight at the weigh in. Caroline has everyone get set at their resepctive poles. Their arms just barely fit around the poles and there is only a small lip for their feet to stand on. At this point, I realize just how small Matt's feet are. As expected (at least by my daughter and I), Doc Jeff falls first and it only took him 4 minutes. Two minutes later, Matty is acting like a baboon and bouncing on the pole. Suzi is looking a little concerned but Andrea isn't phased. Next in the water is Matty. Seth tries to strike up a conversation with Andrea who is rigth next to him but she doesn't even acknowledge him. She's found the zen zone and is determined to win. Forty-five minutes later Seth takes a bath. Suzi managed to hang on for another 15 minutes but the voices in her head kept telling her to jump so she finally just did. Andrea has won the challenge! We get to watch her check into the Sheraton and then we see her husband upstairs getting the candles lit, champagne poured, etc. Andrea comes in and he sneaks up on her and surprises her. She tells him "I knew you'd be here". Awe! They really make a cute couple. The following day we get to see the "last chance workouts" before the weigh in. Matt is really pushing it because of the whole 12 pound gain debacle of last week. We get the obligatory scenes of contorted faces, sweat-stained shirts and bizarre workouts. Pan to the moon and back to the ranch where the weigh-in parade has begun. Andrea opts to give Doc Jeff the pounds. She alleges strategy made her do it but I can make a sound argument towards stupidity on her part. Granted, I thank her after the weigh-in that she didn't give it to Suzi because we would have had to endure the octave intense siren of her voice. I didn't get all the details that lPatrick normally does, but here's a breakdown: 1st Place Matt who lost 26 pounds! This cannot be healthy! 2nd place was Seth who lost 8 pounds. 3rd place was Suzi who lost 4 pounds. Below the hell line were Andrea who lost 3 pounds and Doc Jeff who lost 3 pounds but only got 1 because of the two pounds Andrea gave him when she won the challenge. Bottom line is Andrea and Jeff are up for elimination. Back in the weight room Bob is giving Andrea this great motivational speech about how he's sure she can take care of herself at home now and he's not worried. Andrea comes back with "I guess is a bad time to tell you I had a couple of brownies last night?" Black and white footage of Andrea with a bowl of bite-sized brownies. Bob asks her how many she ate and she responds (unconvincingly) a couple. Matt chimes in with "I know how many...9! Bob is flabergasted and you can actually see him starting to get pisssed! Jillian and Doc Jeff are walking outside and Jillian is reminding Doc Jeff of all his accomplishments and broken records he's had since he's been at the ranch. Doc is feeling good and looking forward to going home and continuing with the rest of his life. Suzi votes for Jeff and as expected Matt gave another one of his patented "so-and-so is the most amazing man/woman I've ever known and they are my hero and I'm better for knowing them, E-I-E-I-O" crap he serves every week before he gives that person the axe! This week his new personal hero is Doc Jeff! 24 hours after elimiantion we see Doc Jeff returning home to his family. He has an absolutely beautiful family inside and out and I am not ashamed to admit that I cried tears of happiness for Doc Jeff. When they show a current pic of Doc Jeff my first thought was GOOD GOLLY HE's HOT!!! He's no Dewberry or Bobby John but dang who'd a thunk it? The next thing I noticed is that Doc Jeff has a lot of skin still hanging from his belly. My question to those of you who may be in the know is will this eventually disappear or is surgery something that will have to be done to lose it?
