Daniel V.
Daniel Vosovic Age: 24 Hometown: New York, NY Education: Fashion Institute of Technology Biography: Daniel, a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, has traveled the world over in order to broaden his fashion technique and cultivate his talents as a designer. From fashion seminars by Li Edelkoort in Florence, Milan and Paris to working at Gorland/Ittiere in London, Daniel has been a committed globetrotter in order to find his place in the fashion world. His efforts were rewarded when he was chosen as one of two students from F.I.T. to participate in Milan’s international design competition Milano Studia la Moda in November 2004. He also received critical acclaim when critic Emilio Cavalini chose Daniel’s design for his own window display during the Pitti Filati 2004/2005 Trend Show. Daniel then returned to the United States to gather more experience working alongside fashion designer Sari Gueron as an intern for the spring ’05 season in New York City. Though designing is Daniel’s principal passion, he has also achieved professional status as a dance instructor/choreographer as well as being a competitive national gymnast for 12 years. Daniel’s zest for life continues to expose him to new ideas and people, leading him to the cast of Project Runway. When he is not designing, Daniel intends to continue pursuing other interests such as learning the violin by the time he’s 25 and learning to surf before age 30.

Tim's Take: Episode 1 Daniel V. presented a short, form-fitting halter dress, the fit of which was problematic, too. The muslin was scrunched up at his model's hips, and I believe that it was more of a construction issue than one of size. Furthermore, the poor fit took away any chance of declaring his look to be sexy. To his credit, the sequin embellishments were an excellent addition, because they gave the look a little bling and saved it from being dowdy. Auction Bid : $ 45.00

Tim's Take: Episode 2 Daniel V. took his jeans, tailored jacket, and scarf and viola! produced a halter top and knee-length skirt with prominent pocket details. The look was young and modern, sexy without being vulgar, and it worked. Good showing, Daniel. Auction Bid : $ 65.99

Tim's Take: Episode 3 Daniel V. is disappointing me; that is, he's not working at the level I know he's capable of achieving. For this challenge, he got by. His purple dress with a vest made with embroidered trims was well executed, and I loved his addition of the embroidered trim handbag. But the overall look was so ho-hum. Daniel, have a Power Bar and some Jamba Juice and snap to it! Auction Bid : $ 191.00

Tim's Take: Episode 4 TEAM DANIEL V. Team Daniel V. includes Andrae and Zulema, and their designs receive the highest scores. Accordingly, Daniel V. WINS! Daniel's theme was "Revenge" and was based upon a scorned woman seeking retribution against her lover by raiding his closet and cutting up his wardrobe. As a result, we see menswear tailoring and collars, cuffs, and neckties in the looks. I was pleased for the team that our judges responded well to these designs, because I was dubious. I, too, responded well to the sleek silhouettes and minimalism of designs, but there was something about the collection that looked very Playboy Bunny, and that disturbed me. It brought out my inner-feminist! The designs aside, Team Daniel V. deserved to win if only for their synergy as a team. Daniel's leadership style is one that I applaud. He is truly collaborative; seeking the opinion of his teammates, listening to their feedback, and incorporating their ideas. Bravo!

I liked the concept of this lingerie collection but not the execution...especially the one with the tie. Ugh!!

Yes, the tie is hideous. *shudder* Overall his designs are so plain. If I was looking at a rack of clothes in a store or a display, I would look right past his stuff.
