Chloe Dao Age: 33 Hometown: Houston, TX Education: Fashion Institute of Technology Biography: Chloe Dao, a Vietnamese born in Pakse, Laos, is living the American dream. Born the sixth child of eight girls in her family, she emigrated to the U.S. with her family in 1979 and settled in Houston, Texas. By the age of ten, Chloe saw her first episode of “Style with Elsa Klensch” on CNN and knew she wanted to be a fashion designer. She majored in marketing at the University of Houston, but after one year in college she realized her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer had to be fulfilled. Inspired by her mother, a successful business owner, Chloe began her pursuit of becoming a designer and enrolled in the fashion design program at Houston Community College. After one semester, she took a week vacation to New York City that turned into an eight-year career. In 1992, Chloe enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology with a focus on pattern making. Before graduating, Chloe worked with Madame Rossuel, a costume couture shop where she was first exposed to couture details and techniques, the art of window displays and the management of a sole proprietor business.

Tim's Take: Episode 1 Chloe designed a stunning, form-fitting full-length evening dress with a scooped back and a dramatic flare from the knees down. Without any alterations in the unbleached muslin -- no dying, no embellishing her look resonated with my mantra: quality, taste, and style. Superb showing, Chloe! Auction Bid : $ 150.00

Tim's Take: Episode 2 Chloe wins! Chloe was one of the more challenged designers, because she had relatively little material with which to work. That makes her win even more of an achievement. Using the short jersey dress of her own design and a jacket, she created a halter dress with exaggerated pockets that was worthy of Courreges. A fabulous showing, Chloe! Auction Bid : $ 385.00

Tim's Take: Episode 3 Chloe, last week's winner, has another excellent showing. Her dress was like a frothy dessert, a flowing confection made of lacey white cotton over bubblegum pink. I loved the asymmetrical hem that cascaded in the back. This sophisticated teen look was headed for a hip club’s dance floor. Auction Bid : $ 256.00
