Better yet...he zings the racers.
BJ & Tyler are unlike any another team. They could get arrested for their clothing choices.
And you get cool inside views of production -
My team and I were on the delayed flight, so we’ll never beat the first Teams there. We’ll come back later to do the stand-up. We’ll head straight for the Detour. Just been on the phone with the producer at the Detour who has some local shampoo, apparently bright green. Also, a rubber ducky, yellow towel. I like the bed-head look, but I’m going to need to wash my hair on the street before shooting. The cold water will be a good wake-up call.
I *heart* Phil.

Phone just rang, the first Teams are expected here in 35 minutes, so I need to get this shot before they get here. Also, heard that Fran and Barry have walked past the clue box numerous times. I’m keeping notes for the “Mat Chat” later on. The cameraman has a great shot where he clearly shows them walking right by the clue box. I always knew that Phil was kept abreast of what was going on as the teams raced. I'm still perplexed as to why poor Lena in TAR6 had to work in that field rolling giant hay bales around for TWO HOURS after the last team had checked in. Surely someone could have notified her to quit. The poor girl spent EIGHT hours unsuccessfully searching for a clue, and watched team after team come along and find one with much less effort.
It’s not just US media that has such a strong influence on how we see the world. The old adage that, “If it bleeds, it leads” is true for news all over the world, so the Race also serves to give international audiences a chance to see the incredible diversity of Americans. Race is now playing in close to a hundred countries around the world and wherever I go fans always remember the tremendous human spirit of teams like Uchenna & Joyce. Obviously, to make a great TV show you need to show contrasts and we have certainly had some teams who don’t exactly embrace their surroundings. I love watching how different teams react to their environment. I met a teacher once who told me she was using the Race as a way to teach her class about manners. I like this quote.
