Carmen Rasmussen's Album!
Oh my holy heck! I think I may wet myself! I just found out today that everyone's favorite former AI contestant has released a 4 song EP. Amazon.com has it for sale. Here's what some customers are saying about Carmen's album: I wasn't a fan of carmen while she was on American Idol,but when my friend bought the cd I thought that I'd give it a try. Let me tell you, it is NOT worth the money. The songs are all the same; Fluff. Garbage. Pathetic. After listening to the cd, I came to the same conclusion about carmen that I had during American Idol; she has no singing talent! I used to be a fan of Carmen's, but I was extremely disappointed with her self-titled album. It's just more of the same from a smoking hot blonde babe that charmed her way into the finals of American Idol based on looks moreso than singing talent. The biggest problem is that when you isolate her voice from her good looks, all you're left with is a rather mediocre singer with a lot of studio enhancements. To put it bluntly, I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to have her perform a lapdance on me, but I wouldn't pay extra to have her actually sing the song while she danced. So much has been made of her overuse of the vibrato in her singing that it seems like she so aware of this distinguising characteristic that she feels like she HAS to use it every opportunity she can. If you didn't already feel that she was a one-trick-pony before hearing this, it clearly becomes evident that she has no range beyond what we've already seen. You'd think that with all the time there's been since her exit on Idol, she would've received more training, but she's shown absoluetly no growth as a singer. Given that there are so many overproduced albums from teeny-bopper girls with more looks than actual singing talent, I can only believe that she'll eventualy be forgotten unless she does a stint on The Surreal Life. Vocally, there's nothing to separate her from any other bubblegum singer wannabes. I predict that based on what I've heard on this "album", that the most she can hope for is a few years as a weather girl on the local news. Save your money for the next Lindsay Lohan album. No idea how Carmen ever made it to the top 12, because she has the voice of a goat. This CD has terrible vocals, and not every person on AI should be making CDs. Stop while you can I am so tempted to buy this EP, but I think I'll show some restraint and hold off for release of her full-lenghth album this summer. :grin:
