August 7 live feeds Big Brother: All-Stars, August 7 Live Feeds—Arrogance, Thy Name is Danielle
by Joel Hardy -- 08/08/2006
Janelle may have acted like a queen during her stint as HOH, but Danielle is making Janelle’s reign look like a democracy. Will all of her planning and scheming come back to haunt her as she faces the possibility of not only making a replacement nomination, but also seeing her own plans backfire as the rest of the house plots something near mutiny? It’s not all ugly though. Watch as a few houseguests truly do bond together. Warning: This article contains spoiler information.
Before I get to the fun that is the Big Brother house, I would like to thank those of you that responded to my questions about the houseguests’ sleeping habits. You gave some good suggestions as to why they stayed up all hours of the day. Including that they feel more active when they think that we, the internet watchers are not watching them. If this is the case, they are delusional, as we are always watching them. Another point raised was the heat. Since they are in California, the heat there is pretty intense, or so I hear. Heat makes people want to sleep during the day when it’s the hottest and be up at night when it’s the coolest. It’s a fair point, but who knows with these people. Now, on to the recap!
Mike is the first one up. He goes to the kitchen, makes a small meal, eats it loudly, and then goes to the storage room for a battery change.
Everyone starts waking now, grumbling and complaining about sleeping on the cots and the floor. Mike complains that it’s really cold outside, then proclaims that he is going to do laundry today, and proceeds to do just that. After getting that started, he jumps into the hot tub, to warm up I suppose. Janelle asks Mike if she can throw her laundry in with his. Umm, no. Mike asks Janelle if Howie was sleeping next to them. When she replies in the negative, he accuses her of snoring. James chimes in and tells everyone to wake him up if he snores too much; he was woken up several times the previous night. If these people are complaining about a little snoring, I would be in so much trouble if I were in the house.
Mike and James are sitting in the living room. James is whining that he doesn’t have strawberries for his parfait. This makes him curse Big Brother and the living conditions in general. He justifies his Janelle bashing by saying that she brought it on herself. Danielle would not have gone after her had she not nominated Diane. I really do not think this is the case as I really doubt that Danielle would have really cared about Diane’s nomination had James not gone ballistic over it. James mumbles that he might be going home this week, and then looks over to Mike for reassurance, which Mike does not give. James tells Mike that he and Will need to prove to Danielle that they are here to play. Mike tells him that he plays all of the competitions to win, but he does not know about Will. James points out that Will throws competitions because if he tries and does not win, then it makes the winner look better than him, and he cannot stand that. That’s a fair point. Big Brother interrupts them by announcing that the veto ceremony will take place in two hours.
Danielle and Mike are whispering in the backyard. Danielle is telling Mike how wonderful he is and that she is telling Marcellas to try and make nice with Mike, but she is “keeping him close to her to watch him.”
Now I have seen it all in this house. Someone please call the FAA to report pigs flying because now we have Chill Town Jedi training! They are in the kitchen quizzing each other in the event that there is a competition that will require some sort of knowledge in the future. Maybe Will will actually win HOH for a change. I don’t see it happening though, since he will have to reveal his allegiance, but it would be nice.
James got his phone call to Sarah this morning. He says that she told him to give hugs to everyone. Then he clarifies, and says that while she did say everyone, he assumed that she meant just Danielle and the season 6ers. He thought that the phone call would make him weaker, but it only made him stronger, since he found out that his grandmother, while still in the hospital, is doing a lot better.
Danielle says that this is all a game. If she goes home now, she is happy because she has a family that loves her. James agrees emphatically. Danielle mentions that it must make Janelle feel better to hate her; that she will understand that it was all game and not personal when she sees the tapes. Of course, Janelle already understands the game, what she does not know is that James is working with Danielle as a pawn. When Danielle told Kaysar that he was going up as a replacement nomination, he told her that she had to understand how he felt. Danielle wonders if that means that they cannot be friends outside of the house. She tells James that that would really hurt her. James wants to get rid of Marcellas, telling Danielle that he will cut her eventually. Danielle agrees, but cites numbers as the reason why she is not putting him up now.
This goes on for awhile, but nothing much of importance is said. With the veto ceremony around the corner, most of the houseguests spend this time getting pretty, or trying to without hot water, and generally just banter about normal everyday things. Although I am sure that James made more than a few enemies when he bashes democrats. Then we get flames as the veto ceremony starts.
When we return, we find out that Janelle is not as dumb as she looks, and has taken herself off the block, but it comes at a price. Kaysar has been nominated in her place. James and Danielle are in the HOH room, complaining that “they” meaning Howie, Janelle and Kaysar just got up and went outside together after the ceremony was over. Danielle just rattles on and on about how she wants to play a respectable game this year. She wasn’t respectful in the diary room the last time she played, and it cost her the game. So being disrespectful outside the diary room is the right way to go Danielle? Danielle is also saying that it was hard to nominate Kaysar. James says that he is going to pretend to be depressed about Kaysar’s nomination. Danielle is surprised, she asks if he really is, since Kaysar is his friend, and he says that he is not anymore, so he has to pretend. Danielle changes the subject and says that this plan that she and James have come up with will go down in Big Brother history as the greatest move ever, even better than the six finger plan. At this point I have to ask; just what are they putting in that hookah? James says that if Chill Town gets HOH next week and gets rid of Janelle and Howie, they should change their name to the Untouchables. He chuckles a bit at this and then tells Danielle that Erika and Marcellas swear that they have his back, but he isn’t so sure about George. He can tell George what is best to do for himself. Danielle suggests that he use the vote nullifier this week, not to take a chance. James says that he will indeed use it on Janelle’s vote. They finish up their conversation, and as James walks out the door as they both say “final two.”
Elsewhere, Will is listening to Kaysar vent. They think they have four votes because of George. Kaysar says that Will has to start stepping it up, and Will says that he will start playing. Janelle calls Erika, George, and Marcellas followers. Kaysar makes fun of Marcellas saying, “Who thinks like that”? He then wonders out loud what he is doing there. The three talk, and suggest making Marcellas the new Busto. Howie explains that they did not make any bad moves, as they took out Alison, Nakomis, Jase, and Diane.
Kaysar and Erika are talking in the backyard. He tells her that he will not beg for her vote. Why the heck not? But, he reminds her, he had her back the entire time she was on the block, even getting into fights with people over her. She keeps repeating, “I know, I know, I will try harder.” He asks her if she is going to vote for herself or as part of a group. She does not give him a straight answer. Kaysar tells her that he will not treat her any different now that he is on the block. She stupidly says that she does not think that her vote will make much of a difference. He then comes out and asks her for her vote. She doesn’t answer, so he starts expanding on his request a bit more, but then some idiot in the background starts singing, so we get flames.
Erika is in the HOH room, telling Danielle that she was up all night trying to figure out why James would take a margarita party over the veto. She says that something about that just does not sit right with her. She suspects that James is backdooring Kaysar! NO! Color me shocked. She is not happy with the idea of booting Kaysar. She just cannot figure out why James would throw the veto. Marcellas comes in and tells Erika to stop crying. Kaysar just spirited George away. Can they trust George? Danielle tells him not to worry.
Kaysar is telling George not to feel like he owes Marcellas anything for giving him the slop pass; that anyone would have given it to him. Kaysar explains what is making him and his alliance so mad—that the others were throwing them under the bus and George’s name was mentioned. He hopes that George doesn’t hold it against him that he went so far in that veto competition that George won. He plays this game based on respect, and he gained a lot for George that day. George says that he would never hold it against him. George tells Kaysar that Kaysar was willing to carry him through the game, and that meant a lot to him. He knows that he was the next choice after Diane to go. They both share a laugh when George says, “You never nominated me.” Kaysar vows that if he is around next week, he will continue to look out for George. George tells Kaysar that he will never forget that Kaysar was always supportive of him but James was not. It sounds to me like Kaysar and George have formed a pretty strong bond.
In the backyard, Mike asks James if Kaysar will campaign for votes. James says that he has already seen Kaysar do just that. Danielle says that Kaysar asked her what she would do in the case of a tie, but she would not answer him. Speaking of Danielle, she and Mike are spying on season six. She tells him that they cannot stand it now that she is the queen of power, the black widow. She tells Mike that it’s all Kaysar’s fault, that she told him to go for veto.
In the bug room, Kaysar is talking to Mike. He proposes aligning with Chill Town and then going full force against the floaters. Mike thinks that’s a good idea, but thought that Kaysar wanted to go home. Kaysar says he did, but now he is ready for war. It’s amazing how a nomination can wake up someone’s fighting spirit. Mike says he will talk to Will about it. What? Can’t think on your own Mike?
Howie asks us, the internet viewers, not to bring anyone back into the house. He says that we can keep them. Then they go to outside lockdown.
Erika and Marcellas are in the backyard. They decide that Kaysar must go! How quickly Erika changed her mind! Erika says that the pawn strategy does not work on so many levels. Marcellas agrees, saying that you should only put someone up if you want them to go. Danielle joins them, and mentions that she did not know that Kaysar’s birthday is on Thursday. Wow, happy birthday Kaysar! Here is your gift, goodbye!
While on outside lockdown, there is not much to do other than work out and talk. They speculate that no one has been to the diary room today, and now they are on an extended lockdown. They think something is up. They always think something is up. Kaysar is shirtless and lifting what appears to be some very heavy weights. I am sure that the female viewers out there appreciate that view! Janelle is telling Mike and Will about all of her travels. Seems she has been all over the world. She says that she gave up going to South Africa to go on the show this time. Mike and Will seem at least mildly impressed.
Eventually, outside lockdown ends and most of the houseguests tromp inside. Erika is outside with George, trying to like him so she can be assured that he will not vote against the group’s wishes, and will vote out Kaysar. He says he will do what he said, and Erika seems satisfied with that. Erika then asks him what his kids do for a living, and she does seem like she really wants to know. Then they make a pledge that if one of them goes on the block, the other will try and save them. AWWW, how cute is that? Erika thanks him for supporting her and says he is too kind. She is being so sweet; I am getting a toothache just typing this. She goes into how she would never put him up. Is this the same Erika that has been gunning for George for quite some time now, and is convinced that he has some super secret alliance against her? She tells him to trust no one, and to go with his instincts. This is like the blind leading the blind, I swear… George says that he has never been a good strategic player, never a good mastermind, but he says, you never know what he might pull off.
James asks Marcellas to not completely alienate himself from the “four” so he can be sure that he will not go up next week. Marcellas refuses, saying that if not laughing at their jokes makes him a target, then so be it. It is taking a huge effort on his part not to call people out. Excuse him if he doesn’t want to talk about farts and money.
Kaysar tells Janelle that George gave him his vote. Did I miss something? I know George said he would consider it, but I don’t know if he actually promised him the vote. He swears to Janelle that he is out to get Chill Town. Kaysar said that Erika told him that she doesn’t give a damn. She basically told Kaysar that they banded together out of necessity. Kaysar comes back and tells her that he put his butt on the line for her and this is how she repays him? Erika told her she would speak to Queen Danielle. Janelle calls Erika a loser. She wonders if the floaters asked George to lie to Kaysar. He doesn’t think so; he thinks that George is the only honest one. Janelle wants to tell Chill Town, but Kaysar advises her not to tell them or Howie.
Howie is talking about the time that he stayed at Kaysar’s place for awhile, opened the refrigerator, saw all kinds of weird stuff in there, and ate everything in sight. He did buy some Cheerios as a replacement, but then he went and ate the Cheerios. What a nice guy. He says that he will only stay three weeks next time.
Janelle and Kaysar are in the bug room whispering. Kaysar asks her if she thinks that “they” have the numbers. Janelle responds, telling him that Danielle is trying to get James to talk to Chill Town. Kaysar rehashes the numbers, and thinks that they have enough to pull it off. Kaysar says he will never ask Erika, Danielle, or Marcellas for anything ever again. He tells Janelle that Erika had asked him what the rest of the house was supposed to do, let season six run the house? He asks how Erika can claim that she doesn’t have an alliance. Janelle says that Erika has to be babied, she is very sensitive and fragile, and has to be babied. She is essentially weak. “Her strategy was to latch onto our alliance,” says Janelle. Kaysar says that they are counting their chickens before they hatch. They never did a thing, and now they cannot even “give us a vote.” He gets heated as he says that they tried to include them, and tried to be nice, but they cannot even meet them halfway.
Janelle states the obvious and says that Erika knows that if one of them wins HOH, she is going up with Danielle, but if she wins veto, Marcellas is going up and going home. She asks Kaysar if he thinks he is staying because the house is so divided. Kaysar says he thinks so, since Chill Town wants him to stay and wants to align with them so they can go full force against the floaters. I thought Kaysar was smarter than that. He is buying everything that Chill Town is telling him. He confirms my thoughts when he says “I know they have a bad reputation, but I think they are halfway decent.” Kaysar wants to make it seem like he is not campaigning, because he promised Danielle that he would not, but he wants to see the looks on everyone’s faces when the vote is announced on the live show. I get out of the way as the gods of foreshadowing prepare to strike. He goes on to say that he wants to see Marcellas cry on the live show. Janelle tells Howie, who had entered earlier, not to be nice to Erika anymore since she is “the new Busto.” Howie obediently agrees. They all decide to go after Marcellas at the HOH competition. Janelle decides that she is going to try and work Chill Town, but not too hard. Kaysar warns her that they do not like to feel like they are being manipulated. She just says that she will tell them that it’s better to keep Kaysar. Good plan Janelle. Let me know how it works.
Howie goes out to the patio and tells all gathered there that the floaters are coming after him and Janelle next week, and Will states that he has no problem going after Erika and Danielle. Howie asks Will who he wants here next week, Janelle or Marcellas. Will answers him by saying that it is Janelle. Howie leaves and James says that he is not begging for votes, he cannot campaign against Kaysar. Will tells him that it’s his funeral. Will says to Howie that they should make a one to two week Chill Town/season six truce. Howie tells him that Janelle’s butt is on the line, but he does not give him a straight answer.
Later on in the evening, Howie and James are working out with the weights and James is telling Howie that it is their own fault that season six is in the situation they are in right now. He says that they told Janelle what to do last week, and she went and did something else. Howie thinks that in retrospect, it was a good move, and James disagrees. He says that everyone broke their word, and when Howie tells him that he had his word, James agrees, but then again, Howie was talking zero strategy. James goes on to say that this is a game, and people are making up their own rules as they go along. Kaysar expects everyone to play the game the way he wants to, and wonders why season six would keep people who are actively working against them.
Will and Mike are talking strategy in the gym. Mike says something about getting rid of Marcellas, and then “we will have no enemies.” Will makes fun of the fact that Kaysar will be evicted three times, and he will not get evicted once. You know, I think I am looking forward to his eviction almost as much as I was Richard Hatch’s on Survivor: All-Stars. They decide that they need to bring George in on the contingent, not part of Chill Town mind you, so they can keep an eye on him. If he is not 100% with them, he has to go.
Danielle tells Marcellas to fold her clothes, and he says no because nominations are already done.
Then, an all time low. Mike, Will, and Janelle start planning an 80s rock video which involved Janelle wearing high heels and a bikini top, and having water splashed on her while the guys sing. Will hopes this makes it to the air. I hope it does not. Howie gets hired as a drummer, Kaysar is security, and Erika is invited to join in as the second dancing vixen. I will spare you the details of this “video,” but I will say that all of this happened when everyone was SOBER!
Kaysar is campaigning to Mike. He tells Mike that James might defect and that the only reason he and Will are safe is because of him and Janelle. Mike just tells him that he is a “sympathetic character” which tells me that Mike thinks that no one wants to go against Kaysar in the finals. Kaysar tells Mike that he is pissed at Erika and Marcellas, because he heard them talking about whom they could beat in the final two, and he thinks that they haven’t done crap in this game to be thinking things like that. Mike says that maybe tomorrow, he and Will can talk and air everything out. He asks Kaysar if Howie and Janelle are going to keep him, and Kaysar says yes. Mike brings out the obvious and tells him that he needs one more vote. Kaysar tells him not to worry, he has everything figured out. He tells Mike that if he doesn’t have their vote, please tell him now. Mike agrees to give him that courtesy at least.
Talk turns to sleeping arrangements, and the houseguests start trying to make the cots and the floor more comfortable by using anything they can, such as towels, drapes, and the cushions from the outdoor furniture. Danielle appears to be the only one drunk, as everyone else is making fun of her. Things start to settle down as everyone more or less beds down for the night. Janelle and Kaysar are talking in the bathroom while getting ready for bed. Kaysar thinks that eventually, he will have to align himself with Danielle. Janelle asks where Chill Town fits in all of this. Kaysar doesn’t know, but admits that Chill Town is in a good spot. They are upset at the floaters and the floaters are upset with them (Janelle and Kaysar). Eventually, Janelle heads off to bed, finally, and Kaysar goes off to pray before doing the same. Goodnight houseguests!
So, what did we learn today? Danielle is showing her arrogance more and more as she and her partner James plot to evict Kaysar, who was the replacement nominee after Janelle, their original target vetoed herself off the block. George and Kaysar share a moment, and bond, and while George did not promise Kaysar his vote, he did everything but do so. Erika though, at first upset at the thought of Kaysar leaving, changes her mind somehow and is campaigning for his eviction, including trying to sway George.
