Advice for the Remaining Seven Survivor: Fiji – Advice for the Remaining Seven
by Jeffrey Clinard -- 05/03/2007
At the end of tribal council, Jeff Probst pointed out that Alex could become a dangerous player. The Syndicate can’t stick together forever, after all. Will other Survivors decide that now is the time to play dirty?
Last time, the Syndicate attempted to force the eviction of either Alex or Mookie by splitting the vote between the two of them. With the number situation, it would have been an excellent decision... if one of the hidden immunity idols were in their hands. As it stood, the whole tribe knew Yau-Man had one and the other had just been used at the last Tribal Council. The only person who could have located it was Boo, who appeared to be loyal to the Syndicate, though how long that lasts is a matter of time.
However, getting the votes split wasn’t a bad idea for some members, as they inevitably have to break apart into sub groups, and that time is probably here and now. It takes four votes to control the eviction, and Alex, by selling out Mookie is suddenly that fourth vote. All he needs to do is sell three people on getting rid of the power players, and he’ll not only be on the right side of the numbers, but will become the player player himself.
The reward challenge split the tribe up for a bit, allowing time for Alex and Mookie to separately lobby. They didn’t get very far, as the split went badly for the Horsemen, but at least they tried. The immunity challenge was Battleship Survivor style, with a combination of luck, strategy, and memory coming into play. In the end, Stacy made a good strategic sacrifice to win, while others hit their own squares on their first shots. This was crazy, as while many Survivors didn’t need immunity, it’s always nice to keep the idol out of the hands of the enemy.
Still, now is the time of opportunity for everybody, as the next vote will set the tone for the rest of the game. What should each player be doing to advance? It’s advice for the remaining seven.
Alex: Well done at selling out Mookie, thus avoiding a tie-breaker and possibly losing. The Syndicate’s decision to split their votes worked out well for you, as there appears to be a natural split you can take advantage of. Your objective is to secure the votes of Stacy, Boo, and Dreamz by pointing out that Yau-Man, Earl, and Cassandra are the power players, and likely to win the jury. The four of you can take them out, starting with Cassandra (Yau-Man has the idol, and may give it to Earl if he smells something). If you pull that off, you’ll be the biggest power player on the island and can win the game.
Boo: Your biggest goal should be to find the hidden immunity idol before anybody else does. If you have it, you are golden and can look for the best deal. My suggestion is to team up with Dreamz, Stacy, and Alex, then look to dethrone Alex once you have the advantage. If you do that, you’ll have a fairly good argument for a jury in that you set up person after person to do the dirty work then take the fall. It’s always better to tell a jury you had an active strategy instead of a passive one.
Cassandra: You have a few choices, and what choice you make depends on how the wind blows. Your main source of information should be Dreamz, who talks too much, but will reveal the strategy of Alex going into the next vote. If he has the four votes needed to control the exit, offer to join up and blindside Earl or Yau-Man. Suggest hitting Yau-Man by surprise, as he holds the immunity idol. If Alex is unable to put together the votes, you can get rid of Alex, then prepare to work with Dreamz, Boo, and Stacy later. You can be the power player if you go that route. Also, at all costs keep “mothering” Dreamz. He is a source of both information and a vote, but will probably talk himself out of winning the game if he goes before a jury.
Dreamz: You also have two choices: either you sign up with an alliance to take out Yau-Man and Earl, or you get rid of Alex this time, then set your sights on the power players. Either way works, but the one thing you really need to do is stop blabbing or nobody will trust you. The only other effect would be to alienate the jury. Taking control of the game might be hard, but there is a chance you can beat Stacy against the jury as she isn’t well liked. Plot carefully.
Earl: Now is going to be the test to see how well you can control your alliance. You need to make the moves to get rid of Alex, plus secure three other core votes. I think they are Yau-Man, Cassandra, and Dreamz, but if Boo or Stacy more loyal, grab them instead. If Alex wins immunity, you need a backup plan, and I’d suggest Stacy as the target. Nobody seems to like her much, and you could pass it off as doing the camp a favor. If the vote does end up looking like it’s going against you, borrow the hidden idol from Yau-Man and play it.
Stacy: If Alex wins immunity, the vote might swing to you. If he does win it, or approaches you with the Boo / Dreamz / Stacy / Alex combination, take the offer. Your biggest weakness is that everybody else is seen as a stronger player, and to win the game you’ll need to take down all the big guns, then argue the proper way to the jury. The big guns are Yau-Man, Earl, and Alex. Ideally you want to go against Boo and Dreamz in the end, as you have better case against them than anybody else. You might even try to make the deal yourself to come across as a more active strategist. You are going to slowly lose the game if you don’t shake things up.
Yau-Man: Your goal should be to keep the status quo, with the Syndicate voting out Alex, then finding two other votes besides yours and Earl’s in order to keep things running in your favor. Indeed, you might only need Earl and Cassandra’s votes when there are six if you play the idol correctly. It might involve the reverse of the move Alex and Mookie played earlier - give the idol to Cassandra if she seems to be the “safe” vote.
